Short chassis Volante. Introduced when the DB6 had not long been launched. A limited edition series built up on left over DB5 chassis. Shorter than the DB6. The first Aston Martins to be called Volante as they were not assigned a DB number. The name was then applied to all convertible Astons from the DB6 to the latest DBS models.

The amount Felix doesn't watch the road and looks at Peter
    is alarming

A good opportunity to stop by that DB5C and compare the differences, surely? You chaps are in an SCV (over 3 times as rare) and young Archer would select a ten-a-penny Porsche!...At least Peter chose the Ulster.

Why would it be pronounced Volonte, when it is clearly Vol-A-nte?
