    I've got a fully restored black with red/white interior 1961 Starliner with 390 tri-power engine and B/W T-10 4 speed manual transmission. AZ car that is totally rust-free.

      Thanks, great build..interestingly, I got a 1961 GALAXIE CONVERT/ 352/4BBL/ auto in Red/ white Top( new?) in 1964:: unfortunately it was beat a lot & real tired: Body rust with $79.95 Paint Job,etc. ( simply all cosmetic to sell)Also, interestingly, I ordered **those new **RADIAL PLY TIRES , via my MECHANIC &;put on right away ( seemed amazing &* mileage increase))…. Anyways, lot of miles to late 1966, and found ::* a low miles ,1966 GALAXIE XL/500// 4 speed/352/ dual Exh /ps, PB, in Burgandy & BLACK deluxe ( unfortunately no DISC BRAKES,ETC)…. Improved on it: metallic brakes/ Monroe SHOCKs / tires.. Oddly, ordered COOL@NT recovery System via Ford Performance @Dealer , before **AUTO Stores, etc..!! Simply it was a **great cruiser, many miles thru Pharmacy School, Marriage … thanks…ps:: always SEEN & heard about those **390/3 twos, **Interceptor engines,& Even Pursuit “ Cars” FORD BUILDS, got close buying.

      In 1964, when I was a senior in high school, I bought one for $1,100. It had the same color combination, but had the 390-300HP, 3 speed on the column. I drove it for 10 years, through college and for several years after and wish I had never sold it. It was a local California car, with no rust and was totally dependable over all the years I drove it.

    Ford of England made a scaled down version of this, the Ford Consul Capri...
    It's really cool and It's almost a shrunken version of the Galaxie..

    Super nice. Always wanted a 61, I've restored two 60 Starliners. First one I used the 427/425 FE with the TKO 600 5 speed and posi the one I have now is a original hipo 352/360 3 speed w/od. These are a tough restoration, even if you start with a perfect body, getting it straight and painting takes many hours. The stainless usually comes with 60 years of dings that take many patient hours to bump out and polish. I hold great respect for anyone brave enough to restore one of these. Of course, deep pockets can simplify anything.
    Thanks for sharing.

      walnutmanor, I'm currently finishing restoring another one that will have a 1970 Lincoln 460 in it with a C6 A/T and '64 XL interior. It's red with black interior. Also, an AZ rust-free car.

    My buddy's dad had a deep blue 61 Starliner 427 with a 6 pack. The weird thing about that car is it was a 3 speed manual on the column. Pretty quick though.

    • @sergeantmasson3669
      @sergeantmasson3669 Před rokem +2

      Zone47, tri-power bad idea for a Ford 427 engine. I've tried several different versions of induction setups and I found that a single 850 CFM double-pumper Holley carb was best. BTW, Ford 427 didn't come out until 1963 in a factory production Ford.

      @@sergeantmasson3669 That's good to know. I first knew of the car and it's specs in 1975. It probably explains the 3 speed on the column too.
