  • BTW this is me showing you how I pruned this Specific Tree, all Tree are different and require
Special care based on the trees needs.
    This is a Mango Tree.
    first time Prune.
Pruned 25% the goal is to not Prune a Tree more than 25% per year
✅ I am a Member of the ISA, Over 6 years in the industry and I study Arboriculture Daily.
I am looking forward to seeing this Beauty fruit!
    Never make a Flush Cut!
it's likely it will not be able to close the wound.
Never Cut beyond the branch Collar!
in the Branch Collar there is a (branch protection zone) you want this area to heal properly so be sure your cuts are not opening the Collar.
    Angle
Make cuts at a 45° angle to the branch, facing away from the trunk and in the same direction as the bud. This allows water to run off the cut, which can help prevent disease and injury to the branch
    collar.
    Distance to the next bud
Cut about ½ inch from the next bud. Cutting closer or farther away can damage the bud or leave a stub that inhibits healing.
    Inward- vs. outward-facing buds
Cutting limbs ¼ inch above a bud that faces away from the plant will encourage new growth in that direction.
Here are some other tips for pruning trees:
    Large limbs
Use a handsaw or pole saw to start cuts away from the trunk, removing small sections at a time. For branches over an inch in diameter, make a three-point cut to avoid tearing the bark.
    Branch angles
Try to establish the shape of the tree while it's young, with branch angles of around 60° for a good balance of vegetative and fruit growth. Wider branch angles can make trees stronger and better able to hold fruit.
    Drop-crotching
To reduce the size of large trees, you can remove a main branch by cutting it back to a large lateral branch. Make the cut parallel to the angle of the remaining lateral branch.

Good stuff man. Your channel popped up when I was searching for ISA cert prep. Did you take the test yet? I’m prepping to take it soon. This looked like a fun climb

Yes its Pretty long, and definitely worth taking a lot of time going back through the courses and fact checking your work before taking the final. I'm pretty close to the Final but there is so much to learn I am probably going to go back through all my work and refresh.

Test is pretty easy just study the 4th addition and take the practice test on the isa website to highlight any of your week sections and study the crap out of those
