I just started pruning trees, two weeks ago and watching videos. You’re the only one that explains what happens to the branches after its cut. And that’s what I need. Thank you so much for helping me as a beginner.
This is by far the best pruning video I have watched. I’ve seen dozens and this is the only one that shows examples of what happens for each type of cut. Well done.
Same thoughts, is an excellent video and teaching technique !
Straight to the point, easy to follow, very clear and informed, terminology and definitions, UGH, thank you!!!!
I just started gardening and am so happy that I found your channel! Need to binge watch as much as I can so I can soak in your knowledge. Also, ❤❤❤ Tuck!!!
Hello James, I don't have fruit trees but it's so enjoyable to listen to you AND to See Tucker ❤ He's the cutest !!
Thanks Shelly! Yeah he is the cutest, I love that little guy so loyal and so dang sweet! 🐕😁❤️
@@jamesprigioni You guys are quite the "Pear", lol.
My thoughts exactly. ❤
Hi James! Great video! Love seeing Tuck enjoying his carrots. I hope you’ll do a video on how to prune blueberry bushes. I don’t know if pruning techniques for trees translates over to fruit bushes? I’m a garden newbie so appreciate any tips!
@@jamesprigioniYour dog wanted to help
This is the best pruning video I've seen. Can't thank you enough, James.
That was probably the best and most informative pruning videos out there! Thanks! I hope, you will put out another one that would explain the proper pruning strategy for the different types of fruit trees.
Check out Orin Martin's pruning videos from UC Santa Cruz, I've learned so much from them!
Thanks, James and Tucker. ❤❤❤ I've got some neglected fruit trees and a grape vine I can apply this to. This is a good explanation of what the cuts actually do.
Grape vine is a bit more complex as grapes will only develop from last year canes.
@@keyd33Thank you. I'll keep that in mind.
Great Solid Video! Thanks and all the best from Weimar, Germany!
Thank you, James. Excellent. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ for Tuck lying down to eat his carrot.
❤❤❤ for Tuck , thank you James for everything, God bless you.
Terimakasih sudah berbagi cara memangkas pohon buah buahan. Ilmu yang manfaat
I'm not sure why I clicked on this video. I guess I wanted to see how much you knew. I was a professional for years and had an orchard in Indiana that I was responsible for. I'm now in upstate NY. Pruning is an art form. I really enjoy doing it. OKay, I got to say you did a great job. You hit all the points. If there was one thing I would add it would be to show the people how the bud you select to cut back to changes the direction of the new growth. You kinda mentioned it but perhaps showing how the buds point in different directions I think it would help those new to pruning fruit trees.
But honestly, you did a great job.
Orin Martin from UC Santa Cruz explains this very well in his videos 😊
I love these videos that give instruction on tree pruning. It's rather complicated when you factor in all the different trees types and how they grow. Thanks for the information and please do follow up with more pruning examples.
Love Tuck! Thanks for the pruning advice. I'm a seasoned gardener but the difference between thinning and heading has not sunk in till now. I appreciate your repetition.❤
God I wish there are more videos like these on my feed every day
James this is the best explanation of how and why I have seen. Thank you!
Thank you!! The other hard part is to decide what kind of pruning to do. On the side note, I'd love to crochet a sweater for Tucker. I just finished crocheting sweater for my senior 16 and 2 month old P:omaranian and Lhasa Apso mixed (he's 9 lbs)
thank you. I've got 12 fruit trees that I don't know how to prune. ill be getting to work in winter 😊
Glad to see that Tuck is still doing well! Always enjoy your videos and your energy! Thx for the update. 👍
Thank you for simplifying pruning for this beginning tree owner and garden grower! Love to Tucker 💗❤
I love plants and growing but have difficulties in central Florida with the soil, but this video was so clear and detailed and was pretty cool learning these cuts and what they do and you showed it in detail. Very great video thanks
Thanks a lot Mr. James, for such a nice presentation on the techniques of pruning a young tree by the various cuts, just keep it up.
💙💙💙👏🏽💙GOOD JOB HARVESTING, CARROTS, TUCK!!
James, could you please teach us how to find out if the buds are flower buds or leaf buds on the different kinds of fruit trees that you have? And should the tree be sprayed with dormant oil and copper fungicide before and after pruning? Can’t wait for your next tree winter care video. Thanks!
Yes I need to learn about spraying my trees too had leaf curl last year and got no fruit on my Nikita’s gift persimmon :(
Look at google images for your specific tree. On my peach trees the fruit buds are larger and fluffier than the leaf buds. As for leaf curl he has many videos but a Google search can help you with that too
First buds on my plum tree are flower buds
@@DiggingDeepVlogyup. My peach trees have fluffy buds that flower. The smaller ones are the leaves.
Good job my friend
❤❤❤❤Tuck is the man! 😊
“Pruning is a stimulant” is an insightful comment for me…the right way to think about pruning! Thanks…very useful new knowledge…
❤❤❤ for Tuck and his people! Good information as always thank you.
I. Love. Tuck! I need a gardening companion like that. Great video James. I have an ancient pear tree that could benefit from those two cuts. Thanks much.
Your videos and your enthusiasm for growing food rocks @JamesPrigioni ! XOXO
This was so helpful! It’s been hard for me to understand how to prune my trees and roses to give them a good shape, even after watching many videos. This is a great explanation. Thank you❤
You are an excellent teacher and you share such important information. Thank you
This is the best pruning video I’ve seen! Thanks for doing what you do. Lots of ❤❤❤ for Tuck.
Hi, James. I loved your "best seeds" video and shared it as I will this one. Congratulations on growing your following as well as a magnificent garden! Glory to God for the abundance we enjoy from the earth. Love to Tuck Tuck. He's the boss! ❤
Thank you, James! Just what I needed to see before pruning my two trees today! You are the best!
Your explanation is so simple & clear, now I can prune my persimmon tree confidently! Thanks!
Best explanation I ever heard about pruning for effect desired and for the various varieties! Thanks. I needed this right about now here in mid-winter.
I always learn something when I watch you - and as a Yorkie mom? Of courseI LOVE Tuck!!!
A great explanation of what happens with different pruning cuts.
the terminal bud/apical dominance segment was worth the price of admission all by itself ty James!!!
Really enjoy your videos with you and Tuck!
Thank you.
You are my favorite gardening channel and I love Tuck!❤❤❤
Ive watched a lot of pruning videos and this was the only one that gave helpful information. Thanks!
I have watched so many other pruning videos and yours really simplified it and really put it all together for me. Much thanks
I moved from New Jersey many years ago. I first went to PA. now I am in Illinois. Wish I knew you when I lived in Jersey. You are very informative in pruning trees. Off I go to prune my apple trees. Thanks again!
❤tuck is so cute looking for his own carrots. Nice video for pruning apple trees.
There is a lot of how, but few explain the why the way you did. Thank you (and to Tucker)! Thinning, Heading, Bench (advanced Heading), Terminal bud, Angles, “Apical Dominance”… it all makes sense now. Can’t wait till winter to shape the trees.
this helped me SO much. I've been trying to get a handle on pruning for so long. Thank you!!
When winter goes away, i'll start mine. Thank you! ❤❤❤
Cool lesson. He is so happy and human ❤ Tuck.
Yes, thank you!!! I’m in AZ and need all the help I can get understanding the Apple and peach tree that are in the backyard of the house we bought. Can’t wait for the next video!!!
Excellent instruction James.
Thank you!!! That was super understandable. I have an apple tree in my backyard and have researched how to prune. I've always loved your channel and this is why.
Always great useful information. WTG Tuck and James ... hearts hearts hearts hearts to you two.
This has been the best video on this subject I’ve seen! More of these, please!

Hi, First time, last few yrs planyed nectarine, peach, citrus, apple. Pear. Then i discovered pruning ive benn on a journey, learning for each tree. Your up close video, of the small model, clear simple explanation and results of two cuts has helped very, very much as i travel a little in February to prune a little more with what i have learned. Your a good, clear, fast teacher. God bless you and your life in Jesus name
❤❤❤❤for Tucky! Thanks for another great video James!
I love the dog especially! So smart.
Hi James 👋 thank you for the video and the info on looking after fruit trees .I did learn quite a lot from this video which will now put me on the right track for my trees.which were being trimmed wrong by my self. Love all the videos a very big thank you to all. Thanks😊
❤❤❤ Tuck is so clever! Thanks for simplifying the pruning. Will be reviewing your video, again before pruning our apple trees.
❤❤❤ for Tuck
Thank You for the pruning lesson.
Спасибо!!! Ваши объяснения просты, наглядны и хорошо запоминаются. Успехов Вам и всем здоровья...
This a fantastic lesson on pruning. The repetition is helpful to set it in memory and I appreciate it!
Thank you for sharing the cuts you made in previous years. Seeing the outcome makes a huge difference. 🌳 🍏 🍑
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ for Tuck! 🐕
Go Tuck! Nom that carrot!
Such a great way to explain cutting back fruit trees, thank you! Going to trim my fig back soon since it has gotten huge ❤️❤️❤️
Ok James, I have watched all of your pruning videos and always appreciate each new one! Thanks from Kristy in Missouri zone 6b 😃🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Man, you're making me wanna go outside and prune my peaches... frickin freezing out! 😊
Hey James, well done! A very nice and informative video. I love the way you first use a small brench, acting as a tree, to show us viewers what you want us to know. A very creative way to clarify how pruning can be done by just about anybody. Great and good to let us understand what happens when you cut back a brench or even just a part of a brench, so people understand a tree(the roots) will always compensate what you have cut away, either by blossom/fruits or by new brenches.
Excellent video. My limited experience has taught me to prune the tree (after 2-3 years) as if to envision its final shape. You can always cut too little, but if you keep the upright & 45 deg branches intact, the apple tree can be magnificent.
TY for the very timely video as I was just about to go prune my mini orchard
Perfect! 🐕😁❤️
Thank you for this pruning video… very helpful ❤
Thanks so much for all this info; it’s so helpful, as always! I can’t wait to see the second part and go prune my own trees! Btw love that sweatshirt! And always awesome to see The Boss chomping away enjoying everything he helped grow. ❤❤❤
I used those felco 7 pruners when I worked for grounds maintenance. So worth the money if you’re doing a lot of pruning. Much less fatiguing
Thank you for making this so clear. Other sites’ pruning videos have not helped that much. I’ll watch your videos about peach tree pruning next. It’s time to do that in N. Cal. Much love to Tuck!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🥕
Thank you for the simple clarification
Thank you! You are a great teacher!
I love little boss , he is vegetrain like me . Good Boy .
❤❤❤❤❤ Love seeing you and Tuck!
Happy makersakrankti 😊

Over 1M subs now...wow, I've been away from this channel too long. Best pruning vid I've seen...and I've seen quite a few.
❤️❤️❤️love the yorkie
Awsome video once again James and Tuck, pruning is always an issue for me and you again set a reminder as to why it has to happen.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ for The Little Boss and an informative video!
I always struggle with pruning my many fruit trees. This explains it all in simple terms!!!! I can do this!! Thanks heaps
Let’s Gooo!!! 🐕😁❤️
Best part of the video was the carrot digger. Great info on the cuts. Vary helpful.
My late aunt bought me a pair of those rotating handle Felco pruners almost 25 years ago (before I even had a house). They're still going strong and I think of her whenever I use them.
Always great gardening info ! Tuck of course is awesome ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Great info. I live in Thailand and have about 100 lamyai trees. I never know how to prune them. Until now. Cheers.
Very clear explanation James. Super
Thank you so much. I was thinking about trimming my trees.😊👍
Very very NICE TRAINING YOU GAVE THANKS.
