  • In this video MineTheFab showcases a totally new encoded Multi Item Sorting System for 1.20. It's a continuation of the FabMiss 3 system - but it's also something quite different!
    The categorizer system, the FabMiss 4.0, utilizes several Minecraft mechanics to achieve higher speed and reliability. Actually it's faster than hopper speed. Don't forget to leave a like! Thank you!

    Yeet is a slang verb that means to chuck or throw something, usually recklessly or with disregard for whatever is being thrown. It came from vine and its meaning has slightly changed over time. The items get "yeeted" by the minecart being broken by the lava cauldron.
    This system is awesome and way simpler than some of the other minecart sorting systems ive seen. I will be building it ♥

      @@MineTheFab To add a bit more context, the motion of the minecart (which is full of items) looks like it suddenly came to a stop and threw all the items into the water stream due to inertia. Thus one can say the cart 'yeeted' all the items.

    I really like this system. I've been on the fence when deciding to build a MIS in my world, but your design got me finally convinced to take the plunge. Main reason is that it's actually simple enough that I can understand what's going on with it without a PhD in redstone and minecart mechanics.
    Sure, it might not have all of the bells and whistles or blazing speeds some other systems have, but it's also not relying on tons of "black magic" behaviors that might change with a minor Minecraft patch.

    You can make the slices cheaper by an observer, a hopper, a powdered snow, and a powered rail or two, while also being one block shorter if I'm not mistaken.
    On the slices will less rails on top: Water logged scaffolding with a powered rail on top, hopper with a powered rail on top, that hopper is pointing to the side into a dropper with an activator rail on top and a single powder snow beneath it (one is all you need to kill all horizontal momentum), that activator rail is slanted up onto the soul sand with a detector rail on top of it.
    On the slices with more rails on top: Scaffolding and hopper are the same as the other slice, this dropper has a regular rail on top of it, then a solid block next to it with a detector rail on it, that detector rail is slanted up onto the soul sand with a normal rail on top of it.
    If you try it, let me know if you find any problems. Btw this change does not work with the stair version of the minecart yeeter that someone else mentioned.

    Appreciate the design with the filter underneath the storage and a focus on minimizing the footprint. It seems like most of these have to be underground because of the bulky build, but this gets it easier to put inside a building. Why 2 powdered snow per slice?

    I built Lummie Thief's MIS on the server I play on which uses a similar lane selector (if a somewhat more complicated yeeter system) but it kept breaking and the water was disappearing from the rails. It looks like yours with the fail-safe features might be a much better bet for me, but just wondering if you know of it might be susceptible to the same failure condition by any chance?

    • @MineTheFab

  • @PCHSwS

    You could save yourself one comparator at the staggered section for the indicator by swapping the second comp with a solid block, since a comparator can read through a solid block.
    I really like this new design btw, I also liked the 3.2, but now it's at a point where I can really recommend it to people that want a MIS but nothing complicated!
    One question. Why do you use a stack of the filler item instead of another third unstackable?

    • @MineTheFab
      @MineTheFab  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Hi 😊 Yeah! I’ve been told already about the comparator - but thanks! And keep the observations coming if you see something - I’m collecting tweaks for the 4.1 😊
      And the reason is that if you have several items that stack to 16 in a chest (where you take out 3 filler items) you need to dip into that stack.

    • @PCHSwS
      @PCHSwS Před 3 měsíci

      @@MineTheFab ah, I see, makes sense. I'd never expect to have a whole double chest of different item in a MIS slice so I didn't take that scenario into account :D

    Could you just skip the detection system for the item returning and run on a timer based on this retourn time? I think is possible, and it would make the thing faster, meaning you dont have to wait for the minecart to get to the last lice (suposing it was sorting there) and complete the sorting, you would run at a constant rate and give this timer a bit of margin so you ensure that when te minecart passes by previous sorting slice the item will have allways retourn there

    • @MineTheFab
      @MineTheFab  Před 2 měsíci

      Hi 😊 There should be no problems with this on non-vanilla servers, that’s part of the design considerations - but individual server settings may have an affect. Hard to think of all possible scenarios. When talking “lag” it’s a complicated talk; there’s passive lag, active lag, server side lag, client side lag … what I can say is, that there’s more deliberately “lag proofed” systems out there that locks the hoppers in the “silo” part. However they are usually much more complicated, tend to use more hoppers and other things that may cause lag. So … what I can say is, with the recent update to hoppers, this system should not be able to cause any significant lag to a server.

    How feasible would it be to install a section filter for large storage systems so minecarts only ever need to search 15 chest filters? It would require a second set of filter items but might speed up sorting for large systems without the need for additional input chests. You could just add section filters on the first few sections as later time savings might not be worth it. This could mean the sections that can be skipped might also be the bulk storage sections that take most items.

    • @puttanesca621
      @puttanesca621 Před 3 měsíci

      @@MineTheFab Thinking more about that idea seems less likely to save much time as minecarts still need to travel. Maybe instead each section could have a Pause station to halt the minecart if the previous cart is being sorted. Each section locks itself. Start->LockStart->Pause1->UnlockStart->Section1->L1->P2->U1->Section 2... The first minecart goes through as normal. If it sorts in the first section your locking system will lock pause1 so that the second cart pauses there, which in turn locks the start so a new cart is not filled. Once the sorting is complete Pause1 is unlocked and the 2nd cart unlocks the start. Lets say 2nd cart goes all the way to Section 27. We dont have to wait for it to get there and sort. New carts can travel and attempt sorting in sections 1-26 with no issues. Timing would also not need to scale as you are only timing the first section.
