One of the coolest Impalas I've seen in a long while.
I watch this and it takes me back to 1960's when here in the states it was the muscle car that brought all you young guys a sport to love and get involved in. This video is real 1960's drag racing. I had a sweet 64 corvette 340 h.p. with extras that ran strong. Best dam time of my life, but went to war in Vietnam was wounded and by the time I got out of the V.A. hospital just a little short of a year and a half later nobody was drag racing much anymore. I said screw everything I'm staying with drag racing. You can type my name in followed by LS 1 and see the car I have now at 74 years young. You'll have to jump ahead about 1 minute. A friend of mine takes wildlife videos and came over a took a video of my hot rod. You guys down under God bless you and I will say it again, your video is really how it started in the 60's nice job and great running car.
Thank you for your service
Thank you God Bless you George H. glad you made it home and still doing what you love. Keep slammin' those gears and don't red light.
Thank you for your service George. Too all the men that went over there you are Americans heroes especially the ones that gave all to keep us free🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
2:07 what a heck of a race. Ole Heavy Chevy doin some work haha
Love those old dads them old 4 speed guys will forever be missed 💞
Yes
People today are "STICK STUPID" they for got how to drive a standard transmission. Now a days the automatic is considered the standard!
Had a 63 Impala with a fo speed and a 409 used to race it till a 68 charger ate my lunch. Mopars are fast. Fo sho this 63 in da video is a sweet ride. Took me back to 68!
Very happy I ran into this. In hi school I had a 62 black impala with the red stripe and red interior. Bored out the 283 to 301cubic inches mildly built with a muncie close ratio 4 speed. I loved that car. That was back.when all the kids cried Bellflower and Whittier Blvd. On the week ends. Problems among the kids was very rare.
Sorry...cruised.
That thing hooks up hard!
Love it. I built a 63 SS. A red one. Supercharged 383 TH400. This video warms my heart.
Hell yes!! Go guys, what a great car! Good on you for all getting it to this level, and more power to you!
My dad owned a 63' Impala and a 64' SS 409 back in the 70s fun cars to ride in
Check this bad bitch out czcams.com/video/ugINI7WAK-k/video.html
Simple yet bulletproof 😚
Great work guys, that's a cracking ride
Luv the car !! Thanks for keepin the ole Chevy alive !!!
Congratulations on the family effort and bringing this old car to life.
Those old big block Impalas of that vintage have a rich heritage in super stock class.
Those old big vlocks of the day were either a 348 or a 409. It wasnt a 502.
+MotorsbyShooter
Correct, those big blocks were Gen-1 W series 348, 409 and 427 which was a stroked 409 with a limited RPO code Z11 available only in 1963.
The 502 in this car appears to be a Gen-2 Mark IV engine.
Nice ride there !
That thing gets down!
go the old girl...bang shift heaven love it
oh oh, how Love these cars my goodness
Hell yeah, ain't no tires left.
i dig it , clutchin each gear and movin the orig 4spd lever is old school proper.

What a fun car.
Great quality video. Had the camera in just the right places, at just the right time. Love them V-gates. Had a Mr. Gasket V-gate in my Ponchos back in the 70s-80s. tough to miss a shift with them. Thanks for posting. Can smell the rubber from here.:)
Thanks for the kind words. Hope you clicked subscribe
Yup . Vertical gates !
I f*****g love this car...we don't need no stinkin clutch/synchros!
Ultimate "fresh air" intake on this SS... My '63 SS was a 327/340hp 4-sp-- a bit weak on at the low end but OK when she was wound-up...
Check out this car czcams.com/video/ugINI7WAK-k/video.html
His isnt SS. LOOK AT EMBLEM,CHROME,SEAT...
Real men shift gears!
i love it😆
Cool car
Sweet
Monster
Those old GM X Frames could absorb sum torque!!

nice car. :)
Love that car

Like Bill Black said, technically it's not flatshifting it's actually clutchless shifting.
Badass
Yes!!!
What rear axle ratio are you using?..I love those hard launches !
Top end baby
Wow, fuckin awesome
What a meat axe!
Nice ride though!
Getting that tank launched is remarkable.
My 230 c.i. 1bbl 3 on the tree 4 door sedan will never go like that, but it doesn't want to. Mine is smooth at 25 or 75, but I doubt it'd get up to 95!
1:25 look at the rear tires. That thing just squats and goes lol. Pretty sure that car weighs like 3900-4000lbs so I’m not surprised it hooks decent

Simple and Mean....❤️it.

Aussies don't half ass their burnouts do they? Haha BAD ASS car I love it. Really like the plain ol' white steel wheels looks great
kevs56chev Aussies know how to roast the tires. I love the way they do the rolling burn outs
I give a shout out to the burnouts
You could melt down a Hyundai and make a good hubcap for one of those.
Hell yea. Aussies have it covered over there.
chevy nuff said.
Where did you get the headers?
Sanitary!
What are you running for a driveline and reared and gear ratio
Im curious about that shifter.....and trans....could you take a minute to explain what manufacturer that is?
that's awesome. is the gear box similar to a Pro Stock shifting wise?
It's a v-gate. Handle in, forward for 1st. Handle in and back for 2nd. Push forward without handle, handle releases and it goes into 3rd. Straight back no handle for 4th.
Went to a burnout contest and a drag race broke out.
Definitely an awesome car - I've always loved fast full size cars, possibly because that's what I grew up around with several raced by the family, myself included.
One thing I can't understand about his driving, while that transmission is designed internally for the abuse, for the quickest shifts possible and the same for the inline shifter, the only reason I can come up with for him lifting the throttle on the shifts is fear of breakage somewhere else in the car.
We don't lift - we make damn sure we don't miss shifts and shift quick enough that we don't waste that power/time.
And what the hell is "flat shifting"?
Yep, once the go pedal hits the floor never lift till you want to stop. Flat shifting seems to be what some call POWER SHIFTING.
I'm with you Mike. I never let up on the gas. I also destroyed a lot of gearboxes, and especially gearbox schyros, and the occasional axle, and once in a while, the diff. itself. Many dollars later, I moved on to sports cars, and driving for fun vs ET from light to light. But it was fun.
I subbed you
Stock rear differential and suspension would never hold up to that kind of abuse, must have major upgrades done to it .
The old saying is if you can't find them grind them !
8 pops and a clutch "A" roo1
hi , can i whats the rear end set up ?
can i get wheel and tire specs for my 64?
FOR THAT MUCH MOTOR WHAT A DOG . WE RUN STOCK 428 COBRA JET 69 MUSTANGS IN 1973 WITH 7 INCH TIRES MILLED HEADS LITTLE CAM AND RUN 6.93-7.00 . AND NEVER LIFT ON THE GAS AND USE THE CLUTCH WITH STOCK FORD TRAN,S
2:13 the freight train pulls away
1/8 mile ?, thats my driveway
Ronnie Sox down under.....
Over kill on tire warmup .
yeah, probably for showing off for video. probably use a lil more air pressure in slicks
DT Hellland for sure 2nd pass wheel looked like it was almost on the ground. Still a sweet ride anyways.
Fun to do!!
why doesnt he have to use the cluth pedal when shifting?
Nice. But not "flat shifting" if you let up on gas.....
True
Dick Landy could
Clutchless shifting, flat shifting still uses the clutch pedal to burp it into gear, but requires a lower shift RPM to prevent over revving.
Well One thing is for sure you guy's certainly do some rather lengthy burn out's.. But then nobody on earth does better or longer burn out's then you Aussie's bar none...
Hes not flat shifting hes letting off the gas. Id be more impressed if he was power shifting a gated 4 speed (tremec 6-speed in my 600 hp 65 GTO) but real nice car.
Very nice car! However, I saw no flat shifting.
Check out this car czcams.com/video/ugINI7WAK-k/video.html
bad fukin ass!
Does he have to let off the gas between shifts?
You don't use the clutch after launch with his Jericho transmission, but you cant stay on the floor and shift it, you must lift a little before it will come out of gear.
he must have not seen RONNIE SOXS shift
No power shifting but Flat Shifting..
That engine should go in a cool car Camaro
We would say the engine is already in a cool car
And add another one to the probably thousands of drag raced Camaros out there? Boring. That wouldn't be very cool or unique.
@@STREETMACHINETV love your impala man .. those white steel wheels look proper on it !! You have to be running at least 4.11's ?
It is a cool car I like it alot but that could be done with a 406 small block Chevy and 200 pounds less that's 2 tenths
1/8 MILE DRAGS ?
Yep, best kind, because it doesn't have to be NHRA Certified.
Could use a bit of rear suspension work
Roy I noticed that. Really mashes down in every shift and take off.
Why? It's called weight transfer and the car hooks great because of it!
More squat than yo baby momma
Does too long a burn out and gets his tire too hot no wonder it doesn't leave very hard
That is not "Flat-shifting". He's lifting.
4 speed all the way............... Nothing better than a real streetcar with a muncie 4 speed.......................no jerico for me........ I dont have that kind of money
........
Cool car but no real skill involved shifting without a clutch
Someone needs to learn how to shift. Driving it like grand ma going for groceries is costing you time.
You don’t know shit
You don't use the clutch after launch with his Jericho transmission, but you cant stay on the floor and shift it, you must lift a little before it will come out of gear.
Did the sign show it only did 94 mph in the 1/4 mile? My Lexus will do better than that.
1/8th mile
car runs 12.00 s sucks....
Sweet
