It actually works !!! Not hoax at all. I did it myself for an iphone 5, unused and stored for 5 years. I don't have hair dryer, so i boil water and put it in a plastic container, close it with the lid, then place the iphone on it for 5-10 minutes while charging it. My drawback was when the iphone turns on, it displays system warning of overheating. But it is ok, remove it from the heating source and let it cool down itself and continue charging. The iphone alive again.

Do not place directly to the phone. Heat a particular place and place on it as ur heating another side of the fabric to place on it as it getting cold
