Saw Rooney as a 16 year for Everton vs Fulham in a League cup match. The guy battered pros twice his age and had a mouth on him on the pitch. At 16. A class act.
@Vodoo Child Means he was talking s&!t to the older players.
Vodoo Child he means he was loud, always shouting etc.
And now he’s the dad of a team. Incredible
He could have been greater.. got the raw talent trained out of him I feel
Me and my dad always loved Rooney because he seemed to us (some Croatians, so we could be wrong) the quintessential English footballer. We would say he played with the real "bulldog spirit" (roughly translated) - a stubborn player not afraid of physicality or the tackle, putting in work even at the front end of the pitch, with skill on the ball to make him world class while not prone to overcomplicate play through excessive touches. We would joke that he looked less like a footballer and more like some tough English fisherman you would see in the movies, and we meant that in the best possible way. A scrappy player who plays with his heart in the game. I was never a ManUtd fan but I always enjoyed watching Rooney play for them.
From deadly striker into intercept master, great passer and fk takker
He was always a great passer and free kick taker
He almost scored a free kick hattrick against arsenal when we won 8-2
He was all of those things at united
Typical old school man utd player
Can I get some long ball from you?.
Rooney :ok.
34 and he can still pick a pass out like it was nobody's business
The problem with a lot of people and those who managed him is that he was made to fit in a position on the field. Street footballers don't have 'positions' they just play. They bruise, jostle, run non stop and play.
Underrated, misunderstood, relentless, way more intelligent than how he's represented
Of course Prasanth from the internet knows more about football than Alex Ferguson 😂
He plays in the back because he's old and has to adapt. A player of his class could always pick a pass as shown
Yup . He got his raw talent trained out of him at Man U. I liked what he was doing at Everton and his first England performances when he was just an animal.
Josh R no. But on individual points, and with hindsight, it’s possible.
@Josh I don't pretend to know better. But are you gonna tell me that in his prime he can't play multiple positions? He was put in on the wing to accommodate CR, plays CM, CAM, CF, wing and there's a video of him playing goalkeeper during a Man Utd training session. Street football does not have positions and he's a through and through street footballer. Still he was the most industrious player on the pitch. The CL match against Bayern Leverkeusen in 2014 (I think) when he covered 18km over the course of the match comes to mind. Any player who's only gonna stick to his position can't do that. Anyone who's seen him play will tell you outright that he was a guy who hated standing by and letting the game come to him. I remember multiple instances when he tracked back deep into his own defensive half to defend and then get on a counter attack. That's a classic street footballer move.
Where ever Rooney goes
I go
Okay, martial.
So United are going down to the championship
I remember him in the Nike Total 90 ad from 2008 like it was yesterday. Gosh, how fast this time passes...
It’s scary as soon as you pass thirty it’s like wtf just happened?!
Was always a brilliant passer! His passing skills was not talked enough about. His ability to create space for himself when controling the ball was exquisite as well.
Rooney's been elite.
Rooney is legend
True
Legend is rooney
bruh most overrated player. Dumb tommy
Facts
Yeah he is legend for his hair transplant.😁
I couldnt care less what others say about this lad,... in his day world class. Even now...better than most. Pure class
Pirlo striked my mind watching this video both players fine like wine !! Getting better as they get older🍷
He's like a scholes-lite. Looks so similar. You can clearly see where his inspiration comes from.
16+16 = 32 rooney... maybe it was carrick rather. Nr 16 holding midfield with great long pass ability and intercept
@@Djart2809 no not Carrick ,Scholes why would it be Carrick??
@@Djart2809 based schizo carrick fan
God i miss the golden days of football (2002-2008
Just by watching this, rooney's composure, intelligence & vision of the game has gone so high only a few players have reached that level in this generation. Best English player of all time. I've always preferred South American style of play and I always felt that media heavily overrated British players but Rooney is something else.
Maturity and calmness can b seen in his gameplay which have came from his experiences
I M A JUVENTUS SUPPORTER. BUT ROONEY. WHAT A PLAYER. SAME LEVEL OF TOTTI, PIRLO, DEL PIERO. WHAT A CLASS!
Two words. Legend & Underrated.
The man is a genius. His vision, his passing , tackling , strength. OMG , we as Derby Fans are probably still in cuckoo land . I know I am and I’m 58 years old 🤣 . Reminds me when a certain “ champagne Charlie George “ arrived at the BBG . Proper players . Love the actual game itself. 💪❤️🖤🐑🐑🐑🐑.
Still No utd players in the current squad has that ability to pass long balls and such vision like him except pogba..
This is the reality...
Love u forever wazza....best player ❤❤❤🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩
My Favorite Player Of All Time Man Utd Legend
I remembered Rooney when he was still in Everton breaking Arsenal winning streak with that stunner. Man, what a journey he had.. definitely one of the best..
Almost scholesy-like. And he even said once, scholes was his inspiration. A legend here as well
Class is permanent
Wayne Rooney.. U will never be forgotten
under Ole, he would be a real BEAST in the PL right now. Some of the chances he created in this video were just squandered by his teammates because they just don't see the game the way he does or don't play the way he expects them to. At that age, he's still at a much higher level than anyone on any football field he steps on over there in Championship
He would be terribly out of his depth. He plays against janitors and postmen ofcourse he will Look decent against "players" who have the football talent of a paralyzed goat. 😬
Tuomas Rauhala 😂😂😂 is you think the championship is janitors level, you don’t have a clue.
@@ticker2687 is you think... What does that mean?
@@tottereff8615 You are totally ignorant those players at championship are playing football as a career those are not janitors and postmen playing sunday league football, Leicester came from championship and won the epl the next season. And till today they are a solid sustaining top table team, probably you watch football casually. Wolves is also another great example go look up on the championship division.
@@SacristScorn lol. Neither of those teams have barely any players who played for them during their championship era. Go back under the bridge from where you came idiot
Ronny is a legend,Ronny will be legend
He just relax and calm controls of his ball when enermy rush on him 🔥🔥🔥👍
Who cares about being in bottom 3 ...got Rooney. Pure poetry.
A king is always a king
Rooney was always a elite world class player and at one stage IMHO the best"all round player"in the world¬e I said"All round player"Messi and Ronaldo have always been attacking players, but Rooney could play anywhere, but was the "victim of his own success"at Man Utd&was picked to play in so many positions by SAF,to accommodate other players, which he did, without complaining(And he wasn't given much credit or appreciated enough by the fans for this, for some reason? )
And this might seem strange to some fans, but i always felt confident that if he had gone to play in Italy&mostly certainly Spain,he would have adapted&enjoyed his game, becoming a absolute massive success.
Playing for Real Madrid or Barcelona would have been easy(under the right manager of course)
And it's sad to say,but we won't see his like again..Football is just about the Money these days, players chopping&changing all of the time, for massive figures&,contracts..It's unsustainable and ruining the "Beautiful game"as the true legend"PELE labelled it..
Still different class. What a player Rooney has been. Unbelievable quality.
Always thought that we found Scholes replacement in him. You can see his vision and his long range pass even when he plays upfront in his united days ( oftenly drop deep and playmaking )
LVG was using him in that role also back then. That "Scholes" role was crucial for united, simply making simple pass or spray the ball to forwards or wingers which suited our attacking style.
But well at least now we have Pogba as he can do long range pass and Bruno to do playmaking upfront as Rooney did when he got Scholes behind him.
Yes he was closest thing we had to that after carrick retired. But even from this video you can see that his passes whilst amazing aren’t like scholes or even pogba in terms of the target not having to break stride
Rooney is a legend ✌
. sometimes in defense line, midfielder and striker... what a player! chooses to play for second divisional team to help them climb the Premier League table. LEGEND
Respect to Wazza, But Ronaldo is older than Rooney, kept himself in better shape, still on top of his game at one of the top European teams. Really puts a perspective on just how good he is
Exactly
Rooney started to play at least 30 games every season on Premier League at only 16, which Ronaldo did not.
Emilien Thry Ronaldo was playing for Sporting at 16, they both joined United at 18
@@emilienthry6238 He's on about the difference between the 2 at old age. Not what they chose to do when they were young.
Rooney managed to play at least 25 Premier League games/season for 16 years.
His playstyle is much more aggressive and intensive than Ronaldo's, this guy was everywhere one the field.
Also, he manager to play on PL until 2018 , Ronaldo leave for Real on 2009. La Liga is clearly not as intensive as PL is.
And Rooney played 33 PL games at 16, Ronaldo played 25 games at the same age but in portuguese league.
Playing at such a high physical level at such a young age is clearly not good for longevity.
You just can't compare how they are doing now whithout considering that, unless you are stupid.
And yes, Ronaldo is a monster and a legend for what he have done too.
Skill and class truly are permanent!
only legends play with such confidence & composure, he's evolved into more like paul scholes-ish who can read & dictate the game from midfield and provide such a beautiful long pass for his teammates. form is temporary, class is permanent. #wazza10 #legend
His passing has always been so brilliant, i remember him pinging cross field passes like nothing, not much has changed
I like how he kept his style simple
Best player this division has and will ever see. Unbelievable
Probably not. Probably George Best or Stanley Matthews, maybe others.
benrahma
I'm embarrassed for you after that comment
You know Kevin Keegan played for Newcastle in that league. Rooney is superb but Keegan was better
I'm talking about the Championship, not the old division. Let me know the next time someone with a bigger name, trophy record, Manchester United and Englands record goalscorer plays in this division.... No surprise Leeds fans disagree. He walks into any team, you're on crack if you think otherwise
From a False 9/10 at United to a Complete Defensive/Attacking Midfielder ✊... Legendary
I miss this Legend, nuff said!
great video mate
Legend 🇬🇧 ⚽
He is Professional. respect
''Wow, look at those amazing long balls...''
Said Big ol' Betty at the parlour
Rooney still do this day the best English talent we have ever had he’s so underrated
Legendes Never Die !!!!!!
He is so good when he played with an ordinary players... At 35, he played like he is still at his twenties.. Truly legend...
Legendary. Elite.
I remember watching that bicycle kick he scored i miss him 😭
This man is flipping huge
A truly special player.
His Jersey was the first ever Jersey I bought and played football in
My Legend
A team of Rooneys would be like the Harlem Globetrotters of football. You could spend a full fifteen minutes on each pass, tackle and dribble; picking out all the bits of brilliance.
Rooney and Ronaldihno are my 2 favorite players
Man is still a beast in 2020😱
And he slayed in all positions
Rooney 💕❤
Respect 🤫
The last of the great English street footballers.
My legend forevers.
The goat🙌
Derby County must be pinching themselves to have such a gifted player.
His floaters are a masterpiece!
One good thing about experience players is that they know exactly what to do and how to do it 👍
Should represent Britain next year at the Olympics and given the armband
Thinashaka Mugeri dont think we will be doing that Britain team wasn’t it a one off for the home games
I thought he retired from the national team though
olympics is dissolved, forever
Darragh Bushaway it’s a joke

34 year old footballer/athlete - very young with full potential by 21st century standards.

Legend
ROONEY ROONEY
There is no one like Rooney
I will never understand how United let him go. He is exactly the kind of leader the team is desperate for right now. And honestly, considering the current squad? He'd still be better than most.
Class is permanent...
My fav , still is
Class act
He is the Best English Footballer in the past 20 years ngl. btw he started as a striker than reformed into a attacking midfielder then a defensive midfielder he's an absoulet class
I want him back 😓😓i miss him so much
One of the greatest passers of 2020
Wow he can really pass sideways well...
Manchester god my wazza❤
So elegant
his legs may be going but he is still a class act sublime skills are helping Derby's Roonies Rats /kids are flourishing as a team.
He's still a class act
Other countries players like Rooney are kept around the national squad for their experience, doesn't really ever happen in England
When we fail at major comps we like to oust the elder statesment to appear as we are making a change for the better.
@@JakeLesser I wouldn't read to much into iit , Belgium beat yous handy in both games yous played them in . Yous do though have a lot of good players a couple exceptional , but as I always say the press in England pick the English squad and they can ruin a players career over night , Rooney would have been a great asset to that England squad
@@darrenroche9225 True but England have also in the past too often selected players based on reputation rather than form or fitness.
@@JakeLesser yeah that's the press again, when was an England manager ever allowed to manage his way, without the tabloids causing problems for them
England has been known to fit big stars instead of peak performers into the squad... that and they were once blessed with Scholes and Gerrard but didn’t know what to do with them..
Total footballer
Top video.
Plays with ease
Let’s have it right, it’s an insult that Rooney is playing in the championship. Just as it was him playing in the MLS. Taking nothing away from Derby, they’re a great club but my team Everton got rid of him and Sigurdsson, Davies and Delph are playing in the middle and are not fit to lace his boots. We’re crying out for the deep lying play maker with some aggression. Marco Silva is a clown for getting rid and that’s why he got sacked. If only Rooney was there under Ancelotti. An elite player with an elite manager. Good luck to Derby. Hope they win the playoffs
Wasnt it allardyce ?
B C were not getting play offs plus I don’t think we are ready if we did
rooney himself has already reported it was the owner who wanted rid of him.. Big Same conceded he might not play as much because of pressure from above but still wanted him to stay.... marco silva was shocked to find out rooney was already due to leave by the time he got to the club..
Try to buy Riccardo Montolivo
@@wrighj I thought it was that dickhead Allardice myself mate!!

He’d do a job in most PL teams as a Defensive Mid
Those kinda Becks long passes❤️
0:51 seems familiar
Also, form is temporary, class is permanent
The beard has let him have the master scouser rank
Wow... he soooo slooowwww now!
It's like he is changing his mind everytime he is about to pass🤣
