Jurong East is a planning area and residential town located in the West Region of Singapore. Over the years, it has transformed from swampland into a major regional centre, thanks to various developmental efforts by the Singapore government.
Jurong East is strategically situated, bordered by Bukit Batok to the north, Clementi to the east, Jurong West to the west, and the southern waters of Jurong Lake. With the Jurong East MRT Station at its heart, the area is a significant transport nexus. The MRT station is an interchange between the North-South Line and the East-West Line. Additionally, the area is served by an integrated bus interchange.
Jurong East is known for its extensive shopping options, with major malls such as Jem, Westgate, IMM, and Jurong East Mall (JCube). These malls offer a mix of retail, dining, and entertainment venues. The government's plans to turn the Jurong Lake District into the second Central Business District (CBD) of Singapore have led to significant developments in the region. This includes plans for commercial, residential, and leisure facilities around the scenic Jurong Lake.
The area boasts Jurong Lake Gardens, a massive combined garden that includes the former Chinese Garden, Japanese Garden, and Jurong Lake Park. It serves as a recreational space for residents and visitors alike. Ng Teng Fong General Hospital and Jurong Community Hospital are modern medical facilities serving the healthcare needs of the western part of Singapore. Jurong East is home to several schools, ensuring educational opportunities for residents.
To the south of Jurong East lies the International Business Park, a major industrial estate housing various multinational corporations. In conclusion, Jurong East has grown from a swampy region into a vibrant town bustling with commercial, recreational, and residential activities. With ongoing plans for the Jurong Lake District and its transformation into a major urban centre, the future of Jurong East looks promising.

Ah IMM. I still remember a long time ago, the fields surrounding IMM were flat and empty haha
Yeah, last time we used to take shuttle bus from Jurong East MRT to IMM. Now no longer needed. Time flies 😊👍
@@BDWTravelTV A lot of things has been changed then.
First, overhead bridges are used to connect buildings, whereas service 990 took over the role of shuttle buses.
Anyway, Pop Mart in Westgate replaced Rubi (opened in 2013 and closed down in 26 February 2023; this is the second last Rubi store to close down. The last Rubi store to close down is City Square Mall. Before 26 Feb 2023, 4-language poster (with the title "Closure of Store from 26 February 2023") was used to remind customers that any refunds, alterations or changes can be done at Jem or IMM Building. Uniqlo uses English language for closures, Cotton On always believe in multi-racial society.) And on the day of closure, I think they gave commemorative medallions as well - like "Westgate 3/12/2013-26/2/2023", "Tampines Mall 19/8/2011-13/8/2022".
So sad no Jcube that mall was a go-to spot got ice skating rink ,shopping and just another msll sad it gone though
