Jurong East Info:
Jurong East is a planning area and residential town located in the West Region of Singapore. It borders Jurong West and Boon Lay to the west, Clementi to the east, Tengah and Bukit Batok to the north and Selat Jurong to the south.
The development of Jurong started in the 1970s when estates such as Boon Lay, Taman Jurong, Bukit Batok, Bukit Gombak, Hong Kah, Teban Gardens and Yuhua were built, mostly due to the resettlement of Hong Kah (present-day Tengah) and surrounding villages. Yuhua, Teban Gardens, Bukit Batok and Bukit Gombak formed Jurong East.

Visited Jurong east back in 2017. This walk through is bringing back memories, Singapore is literally a mall.

Yeah the major neighbourhood town centres "all" have a mall these days. In some towns there are multiples of them (like tampines with 3 malls). It's nice to know you don't need to go to the city centre to do some shopping 😊

Thanks C&E I used to hang around Jurong East when I was in my teens. It looked way different from then. The 3 shopping malls were all built "recently".

Hi Alan, Could you tell me what do you local people call the place where a lot of people sit together to eat after ordering food from snack shops.

Hmm. In the last part of this video, we locals call it a "kopitiam" which also means coffee shop. If the kopitiam is air conditioned and within a shopping mall, we call it a "food court". If its in a large area with alot of food stalls (typically not air conditioned), we call it a hawker centre.
