  • My thanks to lowieh3451 for requesting this.
This song has hundreds of iterations, and possibly originates from "The Unfortunate Rake" in Victorian London. Whatever, it is a happy little ditty about a young man and his lady dying from an STD. For this version, it was suggested that I base it on the Doc Watson version, but, I do prefer to make my own arrangements.
I'm playing me 1964 Martin D12-20 rebuilt by Martin in 1998 with a D12-35 trim, and adjustable truss rod - something of a one off. However, like all good 12 strings and Martins it is incredibly challenging to keep in tune. The D'addario Capo - courtesy of my friend - "Sir Robin of Wales". I use D'addario EJ37 strings (12/12 - 54/30) tuned down one tone.
As always, I welcome your comments and suggestions for songs. If you have been .... thanks for watching
