  • This large family home in Bardon, Queensland, is an excellent example of a ‪@SolarEdgeTechnologies‬ hybrid system in action.
This customer contacted us after experiencing a significant increase in energy consumption the past few years. Determined to offset as much of their usage as possible, they requested a hybrid system with solar and batteries.
Joe Springer designed a system with 33.4kW PV capacity, with 76 440W ‪@TrinasolarPV‬ Vertex S+ N-Type modules installed flat-to-roof to overcome complexities in concrete installation and make the most of the available roof space.
SolarEdge DC Power Optimisers were installed on each PV module to enhance performance in shaded zones, which this home is susceptible to. The DC Optimisers also allow both the Springers after-sales support team and the customer to monitor the system’s performance at an individual-panel level, granting peace-of-mind and early detection of potential performance issues.
Three SolarEdge Home Batteries were integrated and enables the customer to store up to 30kWh of solar energy for use at night or during blackouts, reducing his home’s reliance on the grid by almost 80%. For a large home with high energy consumption, the self-consumption from solar and battery storage will lead to substantial savings on the customer’s power bill.
Based on data reviewed by Joe Springer one week after the system’s installation, the customer has already achieved an average self-sufficiency rate of 78%, with 58% of consumption offset directly from daytime solar, 20% consumption offset using the batteries, and 22% purchased from the grid overnight once the batteries have been depleted.
We install residential, commercial, and off-grid solar energy systems in Brisbane and its surrounding areas. If you're considering a hybrid system for your property, contact us today to consult one of our experts - we'll arm you with all the knowledge you need to make an informed decision.

Looks like a great system .. Another question ..Whats the no cost solar companies advertise ? Does that actually exist in Queensland ?

It's leasing basically. Although some people are strongly against it, if you do the math yourself you can figure out if the cost are worth it. Usually they have a escalation ladder so you pay more later on. Also breaking the lease typically means you have to pay full MSRP upfront and is typically extremely disadvantageous. For example, selling your home you might have to buyout the lease, or convince the buyer to take it on if permissible. That said, its a financial instrument, solar companies use it to allow more sales and consumers use it because of convenience and they probably still save money over time. Have to decide whether the pros are worth the cons.

Hey there, thanks for the question. Yep, sure can and cost-wise, it's $10,950 for the first SolarEdge battery and $10,450 for subsequent batteries. Cheers!
