Everybody say their style is not real bachata, no one dance bachata like this in Spanish caribbean islands et cetera. I agree that argument, it's true. But this is sensual bachata and sensual bachata is different from traditional bachata. I love the views of figures and there are a lot of wonderful poses inside the movements. I think it looks very aesthetic. We should know the difference about traditional bachata and sensual bachata i think. Love and respect from Turkey 🇹🇷

I prefer La Alemana's and Ataca's style of dancing. They are more true to the essence of bachata and their passion and emotion doesn't scream unrealistic and theatrical. You can go to any Spanish Caribbean island and NOONE dances bachata like in this video.

Agreed. This is more of a zouk fusion with a bunch body rolls and hair whips that real bachateros would never do outside of a show.
I am a huge, huge fan of Bachata. Actual Bachata. English remixes are all well a good to bring new people to the Latin scene, but let's not forget the origins. It's basically the beginning of ballroom types white washing yet another cultural dance to make it acceptable to people who are not of that culture. It's why ballroom versions of so many dance are noticeably different from the way locals dance. Look at salsa, tango, rumba, chacha. All Caribbean/Latin/African based dances that have all been made acceptable to the rest of the world because rich white people "cleaning" them up to make them what they want.
This whole sensual Bachata fusion is great but at least call it what it is. It's a fusion of mostly some other style with just a little Bachata thrown in as an after thought to all the body rolls, waves and hair whips.

just for me stylistic preferences. 👍🏾 I was at this event. This was mean to be a performance. A and A’s style has always been more social dance based. You used the word “theatrical” in similar fashion there’s theatrical acting and acting for the camera. There’s every adaptation from historical Broadway to Hollywood to modern. In same fashion everyone has their personal preference and approach but don’t think the ART shouldn’t be limited by tradition or origin. There will always be innovations but tradition will also continue to live as well

Sra. Iadanza Sra. Iadanza who by definition is a “real bachatero?” 😊 I think everyone is entitled to their preference of style but I think when we start throwing “real” around it limits the ART. True, I think there is a westernization of many cultural things but don’t think this particular performance is trying to do much more than express their unique style. I was at this event and this was mean to be more of a performance than a social demo as they turned on the lights interrupted social dancing to record this. 😂 Nonetheless I think it’s a contribution to the ART as a whole

      @@ryanjtolbert Agreed.
Still doesn't mean I have to like "westernization" as you call it. I love fusion of culture and style, but I would acknowledge that fusion. It is not limiting to label items more accurately in order to make it clear that a fusion is not the original but a tribute or an incorporation of the original plus the new.
That is my point. Real means actual, as in not an overt mixture that uses the original as a backseat to the additions. I do not enjoy this as a Bachata because it is not a Bachata. It something else with Bachata thrown in as an after thought to a boyz to men song.
I am not knocking the performance or the dancers. I am not so naive as to not know the difference between performance dance and a social/workshop dance.
I'm just saying label it the fusion that it is rather than continuing to call it Bachata in the standard sense of the word. Plenty of Bachata fusions already exist, so why not continue honesty in labeling?
