Isra' and Mi'raj: The Transcendent Journey

- During a special sirah lesson for Zaytuna Honors students, President Hamza Yusuf beautifully expounds on the Isra' and Mi'raj, the miraculous journey in which the Holy Prophet ﷺ traveled from Masjid al-Haram to Bayt al-Maqdis in Jerusalem and then ascended to the Heavens. We are delighted to share this talk with our community around the world on this blessed occasion.

I learnt a lot from shaykh Hamza may Allah bless him, those who are present in the Dars are so lucky!
Salaam Alaikum Great lecture. It is a recorded in the history that priests and the management of Baitul Maqadis run by christian tried to close the main door trying few hours even using horses power but could not close it and remained open for the rest of the night. And in the next morning when they entered the premises and found great scents and lots of pearls and rubies on the floor and they were bewildered and they could close the main door effortlessly as they used to do. Great is the Supreme Allah who is near to us without the concept of distance and countless salutations on our Master the Seal of the Prophets who is Mercy for all universes in motion.

Masha Allah, immense hikma in this lecture. Shaikh Hamza’s lectures have been soul food for me, but for some reason he seemed distracted in this one. May Allah bless you for your efforts

I do love sheikh hamza yusuf's speeches and though I have never met him in person, he does appear to be consistently very sincere in his speech, tone and delivery. Like with everyone, I do not agree with all their opinions and in my own ignorance I chuckle at things I believe to be untrue - like where he claims obesity might be due to people not eating together/ out of the same plate, however I am still always drawn back into his lectures and find more parts where I say 'you've nailed it'. I guess what I am trying to say is that, with a little bit more honesty, transparency and humility we can look past trivial flaws to allow learning to prosper across the wider islamic network and upcoming generation, which I believe is a shared goal of this sheikh and others. Salaam! And thank you so much for the valuable teachings. If I may, I would suggest to our beautiful teacher Hamza to choose just one language for his talks because to keep changing from English to Arabic in the same sentence is too difficult for the listeners to keep up.
