      I enjoy sharing the emotional value of some pens, besides than just a writing instrument.

    I had never used a Parker before (apart from trying my brother's Vector when we were in school and I remember really dislinking it) but I got the new Deluxe one in plum, with an F nib like yours, and I really enjoy it.

      I like Parker pens a lot, but I have to confess that I don't really like the Parker Vector!

    Thank you very much for your excellent review. I’m a user of a P51 Mk2 and was thinking about getting the new model. After watching your video I decided not to spend €260 on a pen that will not have the original P51 feeling. I might settle for the cheap one with steel nib though.

      Thank you for watching. I don't expect the steel nib version to perform very differently. The differences will be the price, the colour of the cap and also the colour of the barrel/section, as some are exclusive for the gold nib version.

    I have a pair of original P51s; one is the steel nibbed aerometric ‘Special’, the other is a 14k gold/vacumatic filler. Now, I also have the new P51 with the steel nib.
    My steel nib Special writes beautifully and first time every time. The 14k is just as good in every way, thank god.
    And I’ve already told you Paulo, I’m liking my new steel nib P51 quite a lot. I would have preferred a snap cap, but I really don’t mind the screw cap too much. I also don’t like the metal band on the section. And not providing a quality converter with the pen was just very cheap. But the new 51 writes excellently, if a little dryly, which I have remedied with a particularly wet flowing ink.
    If pressed to choose, I’d say my 14k 51 is my favourite. But I like all three a lot.
    Thanks for this nice and necessary review.

      I think the ink flow is much better on the 2021 than in the Aerometric version...

      Oh wow I’ve been trying to find someone who would mention the Special (it’s often overlooked), how similar is the experience between the Special and the new version of the steel?

    • @sajjadhusain4146
      @sajjadhusain4146 Před 2 lety +1

      @@TheRealOfficialGator ..I’d say the Special and the new steel nib 51 are very comparable and quite similar in the writing experience. But my Special writes a visibly wetter and a slightly wider line. Both nibs are very smooth with a hint of nice feedback. If pressed to choose, I’d pick the vintage Special one.

      @@sajjadhusain4146 thank you! It’s actually interesting that they did this too. I actually emailed them about 4 or 5 years ago asking if they might do a rerelease so I like to think I might be partially responsible for their idea to recreate it 😅

      @@TheRealOfficialGator …Ha, that’s rather cool, no kidding. To wish for something and then to have your suggestion heeded and your hope fulfilled is quite something. I wish some pen makers would listen to me about what I want them to do. 🙂

    great review!
    it is a shame that they changed so much about the design, the capping system, the ring section and the nib.... it is just so far from the original

      Thank you! Changes would have been made, no escape from that. But I think it is the design flaws that make the changes to be so visible...

      Would've liked to see a piston version, agree the old cap looks nicer and I feel the slip cap meets the utilitarian feel of the 51

    I have a vintage Parker 51 Vacumatic and a P51 Special. The new version does not seem to be up to the standards of the vintage pens. I think I'll stick with the originals.

      @OdE-ObjectosdeEscrita  Před 3 lety +2

      It really is a different pen. Not directly comparable. It is a very good writer, but as I say, I think this pen was not created for ther previous owners/users of vintage Parker 51.

    Hi, Paulo! One question. My Parker 51 was made in 1952 . Will the modern one last that long? Who knows.

  • @andinogonthaler787
    @andinogonthaler787 Před 2 lety

    The new one seems to have some holes at the top of the cap (by the jewel). Some people say that the ink gets dry quickly when not used. Is that true?

  • @ichirofakename
    @ichirofakename Před 3 lety +4

    Good review, thanks. Interesting that you prefer the new nib. To me the deal-breaker is the ugly modern clip.

      I do prefer the new nib, but not the new design. This pen performs well, there is no way to not like the nib, in my opinion. The screw cap, the section ring and some other details are not as good.

    I still have not decided whether to buy or not. The only thing that bothers me is the large gap between the upper surface of the nib and the apex of the section.
