Great review. One slight correction; the Parker 25 was released in 1975. I had one when I was at secondary school in the UK during the 1970s. I was really upset when someone at school stole it but I've acquired a replacement recently at a pen show and it looks (and writes) almost as if new. I agree about Quink ink. I never liked the stuff but, back in the day, there were few options available from the retailers where I lived.

Thank you for the correction! Would have been cool to have that as the daily school writer!

As a school kid in the UK this was the most desirable pen you could ever want. I still have my mine. It was a never ending battle to stop them from being pinched. You never lent it to anyone. It never left your sight, your hand, or your pocket, when not in use. It must be the most highly defended pen ever, except for the jotter ballpoint. No other pen is like it.

That's so cool you had this as a school pen, and that you still have yours! I had a jotter at school, got lost in a one of my moves over the years unfortunately. Thank you for watching!

What a lovely review. You did quite descriptively well. Thanks a lot.

Thanks for watching! I’ll put that video idea on the list, it’s a pretty cool object, need to find out a bit more about its history!

I bought a Parker 25 and really enjoy using it. I like the unusual barrel shape and how it allows the pen to be posted perfectly. Of the two models in your video I prefer the medium nib. I have found my Parker 25 is a nice writer and very dependable. Your 'outro' was funny to watch.

Thank you for watching! I wish I could use medium nibs more, my handwriting needs to improve for that!

Thanks for an excellent review. I have owned one of these since the 1970s - it was "the"school pen to have at the time! Mine is still being used regularly by me, as it is a great design and writer - like my 45. BTW, most Parkers will take a Lamy convertor or cartridge as well.

Thanks for the Lamy tip! I don’t actually own a Lamy so would never have made the connection.

Alas, it appears to be available only on ebay or from specialty pen sites, and commanding at least $105.00 for just one. They made a matte black too that would be nice to have.

They've gone up in price since I recorded this video!

Nice! I don’t have an italic nib in my collection. On the list, thanks for the idea!

Is it easier to write in cursive? The strokes felt very scratchy.

    • @BlankFirstPage
      @BlankFirstPage  Před rokem +1

To be honest I don’t ever try writing in cursive because my cursive is terrible! I think the sound makes it seem scratchy but the feeling in the hand is very smooth.
      Thanks for watching!

the pen looks good once the cap is posted. but i hate how scratchy it sounds. scratchiness is the one thing that makes most fountain pens unpleasant to me.

Agree the pen pretty much only looks good when it's posted. I love a bit of scratchiness, the goldilocks amount.

I’ve just bought a NOS mkiii. First time filled/ used at almost 40 years old and it’s a pleasantly smooth writer.
I have a new Jotter fountain pen which is very scratchy

It was something my grandfather kept from when he had a pharmacy in the 1950s. Very interesting object.
