Toto XIV is the 13th studio album (though counted as the 14th album overall) by the American rock band Toto, released on March 20, 2015. It is their first studio album since Falling in Between in 2006.[5]
The album marks the return of Joseph Williams on lead vocals, Steve Porcaro on keyboards, and as well as the only album marking the return of its original bassist David Hungate before he left the band in September. The band continued without an official bass player in their lineup. Toto XIV is the first and only album with Keith Carlock on drums, replacing Simon Phillips, the longstanding successor to original drummer Jeff Porcaro, who died in 1992. It is also the first studio album since 1982's Toto IV not to feature longtime bassist Mike Porcaro, who had been inactive since 2007 due to ALS and died shortly before the album's release.

Astonishing! I and many of my friends and family discussed your post the other day. After a quick check Reggie, your right. How did this amazing band get overlooked? Our consensus was, oh yeah, it’s The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. How many times have we seen this before? Deep Purple, Rush Et al. Hopefully, like the others, this injustice will be corrected with time. Of course, none of us are getting younger, right? Let’s hope this happens soon! Thanks for the heads up.

I do not believe so! In fact, I believe that total is way above the quality of music that the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame represents. Toto is Waze superior to any of those work groups that have been considered to be “good“.

I have been a huge Toto fan since I first heard "Hold the Line" on the radio in 1978. What an amazing group of brilliant musicians, who are also very cool guys (which I can tell from all the Toto interview videos I have watched over the years). Since I am a guitar player, Steve Lukather is one of my top guitar heroes. His chording and very melodic and powerful solos totally suit each and every song perfectly. These guys were all born with the gift of musical creativity, and of course, they put a lot of work and soul into their music which makes it such a total joy to listen to! :)

Heard Toto live from 1986 to 2022 seven times. Great concerts, great memories! ❤
2015 I enjoyed hearing them again with David Paich, Steve Lukather, Joseph Williams, David Hungate, Steve Porcaro and Lenny Castro, who never was a regular member. But still Lenny brought memories back from 1986, when he played together with Jeff Porcaro live. Shannon Forrest did a phantastic job on drums! 👏
2022 the line-up was very different, but the concert was phantastic, too. Bob Searight had a wonderful approach to Jeff's drumparts, Joseph Williams is getting better and better and Steve Lukather was on the top of his game.
Would be great to have a new album and a new tour in the future. I have all records on vinyl or CD.

We’re just now discovering this short documentary so thank you in advance for sharing this with the CZcams community.🎧That being said, this video confirmed what we thought Toto were and are in the industry. We were also pleasantly surprised at how well Joseph Williams was at not just song-writing, but actually composing. I guess we shouldn’t be considering that his father is John Williams, who is a multi-winner of Oscars, Grammys and Golden Globes for his own compositions. Last year Steve Lukather announced there would be no more touring for Toto. We sincerely hope that we’ll at least get one more studio album in the future.

Amazing band. The musicianship was off the charts. Incredible talent and chops. Some may say that Toto did not break that barrier that other bands have done. I say, " Go and try to do 1% of what they did". You would think different. When I was really jamming and doing it locally, I would come across Toto music and think, "Great band", just not paying much attention to it today or looking back at it. In my 40's, I am like WOW... perhaps still not my tops ever but I incredibly appreciate them more than I did in my youth. Great band and so talented. Toto could walk into any session and play. I could not do that back when I was playing. I would have to have tapes for a few days for the most part to feel comfortable. Roseanna, Africa, Hold the line are Epics... Go binge on TOTO live especially what is left on youtube and other platforms... Crazy awesome musicianship

XIV is a truly excellent album-like a record that was produced in the ‘70s or ‘80s but that remained unreleased until 2015. I sure hope it won’t be Toto’s last studio album. But let’s be clear, as Steve Lukather himself once said, “Without Paich AND at least one Porcaro brother, it’s just not Toto.” I couldn’t agree more. The same lineup who made Toto XIV, including Hungate, needs to get back in the studio and make a proper follow-up album. If possible, it would be great to include Bobby Kimball too. And Steve Porcaro needs to be permitted to write most of the songs. I love that guy’s songwriting! Very underrated.

Great video! But Hungate should have been there right after Mike Porcaro got sick

Hungate does what he wants to do. He left after recording Toto IV, because he didn't want to be in a touring band. He wanted to be a studio musician in Nashville. And he's gained a lot of respect in the industry for his chops.
If he'd wanted to be with the band, the invitation was always open. He toured for this record, but then said that was enough and went back to Nashville.

Great band, great musicians. A real shame they were not appropriated as such in the U.S.A. I have a lot of respect for great musicians.

Seems very odd to me that they didn't talk to either of the drummers! They even talked to the BG singer.. weird. Both such great renowned drummer too
