      Hey, man, glad to see you back on here! Actually, these (with the exception of the 1988 Trans Am Long Beach race, which belong to Buggy Boy, whose channel was also deleted) were from 11Reynard11's channel, which I didn't notice until a few days ago was suspended by YT's Copyright Hounds. I happened to DL these just in case, so here they are. Just thought I would point that out.

    I am from Germany and was born 1988. My dad told me about the quattros when I grow up and were older. Told me things like his first ride with a Audi 90 2.2E and quattro. He said it was a lot of fun and especially the 20V Turbos. Of course he told me about the Gto and group B. He said it was a great time, so many things were much easier than today. When I see the imsa or trans am series, man what can I say, its so sad I couldn't see the awesome races. Of course the 5 cylinder sounds so great but also the massive V8 sound is wonderful

    Also, if you would like to experience these on PC, there are free to download mods for Assetto Corsa. Audi, Cougar, XR4Ti, 300ZX,. Also the GTO Mustang and RX-7 from later seasons. Plus early 90s Trans Am so you can add those as well.

    Thanks for posting. This was a great race and a great series. A truly golden age of motoesport. The problem was many times these races were tape delayed then shown at 11pm or some odd tune slot. Could have been much bigger with a live TV schedule like NASCAR enjoyed. Once in a while this or Trans Am would get a live network race but not enough.

    If you have any IMSA related videos or even some of the Sebring or Daytona events in the 90's, i'd love to see them! Any way to help out if possible?

      Don't kid yourself, Imsa was slower than Modern GT3 in terms of overall laptime.
      The Audi was not the fastest of its class, that was Mercury Cougar that was several seconds faster.
      What Audi did was better Tire wear due to the better Chassis and AWD system, their 1 lap pace and straightline speed wasn't that good compared to the competition, much less modern GT3.

      @@Vazin The Audi cars were built for Group B Rally that completely changed the rules after the Fans in Portugal were killed and the death of 3 drivers in one year. The Audi was lighter, had more power and 7 years of development. With AWD these cars had an advantage with tire wear. You could see the Cougars were faster, could stop and turn better. Unfortunately the tire wear for non AWD cars was not as good as the Audi. The Audi was not a very sophisticated car. Just well developed. The Ferrari was MUCH more advanced than the Audi. An F150 had a better AWD system than the Audi. The Audi had Rally racing for 7 years to develop the car.

    • @Vazin
      @Vazin Před 4 lety +2

      @@dohcsmr1175 But the Audi's were some of the heaviest and lowest horsepower cars on the grid, especially in Trans Am. They got handicapped left, right and center with added weight and restrictor plates. Plus, Quattro system was actually pretty damn amazing. Torsen limited-slip diffs, viscous couplings, and torque vectoring units were employed based upon the circuit’s needs. They left the V-8 brigade at a technological standstill. Not to forget that the Audi 200 Trans Am's were unibody shells up against pure race-specced tube-frame cars.

    • @dohcsmr1175
      @dohcsmr1175 Před 4 lety +4

      @@Vazin I worked for Roush during this era. NOTHING you just said was true except for the AWD system. Where do you get your information from? The GTO cars were 150lbs lighter than the Cougar. There was no “restricter plate” on the motor. The waste gate determined the power. Again your ignorance is typical. All series made BoP adjustments. As I stated earlier the biggest advantage was tire wear. If you want to know the truth about this era I have a book for you to read.

      @@dohcsmr1175 Oh dear oh dear. You did see I wrote "especially in Trans Am"? The SCCA tried to dial back the 200 Quattro's performance first by increasing the weight from 1,100 to 1,200 kg and later by mandating a tighter air restrictor.

      For this race, and other tight courses, the "Cougars" had a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. The one source I found said it was a 2.5L engine with 600hp.
