  • Solomonster ( / solomonster ) reviews WWE Royal Rumble 2015, a show that should have been highlighted by a fantastic Triple Threat Match for the WWE Title, but instead was marred by a poorly booked Rumble match and an outraged audience for the second consecutive year.

    Well i'm not angry when Daniel Bryan is eliminated, i'm not angry that Roman Reigns won.
    I am angry at Kane and Big Show just shovelling wrestlers out of the ring like shovelling dog shit out of your garden. Worse was when they just toss Bray Wyatt like that, he was going strong "This is Wyatt's year!" "NOPE". Its not even a good elimination! Its fucking horrible! it makes every wrestler look like shit! dropping them out of the ring is the worse thing you can do to kill off your steam!
    Who the fuck did Big Show went down on? What is this big push?! Kane isn't getting blamed because yeah he had enough, i'm just mad at why is Big Show booked like this.
    Either way, back to NXT.

      People might have got behind Reigns if wwe didnt book him to just sit in the corner most of the rumble taking a nap. Fans didnt feel like he earned it, because lets face it he didnt. Been around 2 years, 1 singles ppv victory and barely did anything in the match he won after a strong showing in last years rumble.
      And vince says the roster are millennials that feel entitled and need to do the work and grab the brass ring... you cant take that serious from him when Reigns just gets handed a Mania main event.

    Even IGNORING the booking for that Rumble it was easily the worst Rumble I've ever watched, including the first one where people were just walking around doing nothing. Compare it to last year where the first half was well coordinated between everyone where shit was constantly happening, and this one was just back to the basics with just "Guy enters, gets hot for 3 seconds, everyone pretends to attempt to toss each other over until the next guy comes in"... Okay, fuck it, I can ignore booking decisions sometimes but this is fucking impossible to ignore.
    Daniel Bryan gets eliminated within TEN MINUTES?! Dolph Ziggler gets eliminated in less than FIVE?! Dean Ambrose, a guy who avoids the hospital like he's CM Punk in the indies with Wolverine healing powers (kayfabe, anyways) just gets KNOCKED OUT AND LIMPLY TOSSED TO THE SIDE?! Bray Wyatt takes out half the field and HE gets KO'd like nothing?! ALL OF THIS BY BIG SHOW AND KANE?! WHO THE FUCK THOUGHT ANYONE WOULD BE HAPPY TO SEE BIG SHOW AND KANE AS THE FINAL THREE (as it appeared) WITH ROMAN REIGNS?!? Who the hell believed that Kane or Show would eliminate Reigns at this point?!
    Speaking of Reigns, I just feel sorry for the dude. Dude is underminded by the wrong people wanting his success, and now he's going to have to deal with Batista heat for the next few months. I'm not too pissy about my favorites not getting wins, so I didn't really care too much about who wins as long as a good show happens, so I'm not cursing the heavens about Reigns' win, but dude is not going to have a smooth WM trip.

    After watching this years Royal Rumble, I felt like watching the RR 2014 all over again.
    Awesome match before the Rumble but disappointing Rumble after that awesome match.
    This years Rumble was even worse and not because Reigns won, I don't have a problem with Roman winning the Rumble, hell I even like Roman Reigns and you could see that the Rumble win meant something to him, poor dude was crying.
    The booking of Kane and Big Show was the reason what annoyed me the most by far.
    Did Vince really think that by letting young talent like Wyatt or Ambrose get eliminated by Kane and Big Show was a good idea?
    They looked like fucking jobbers! Those two fucks are in their mid and late 40s, who the fuck cares about Kane and Big Show!

      After 3 years from the worst Royal Rumble match in history, note I said match and not event because I think 2014's Rumble ppv had less compelling matches, I look back to the 2015 Rumble because it was the first Rumble I ever watched live and the same thing has stuck with me the past three years: Kane and Big Show's booking.
      It was the most insulting and infuriating piece of wrestling I have ever seen produced and booked. At the time we knew Roman was being established as one of Vince's favorites because he was injured with a hernia for months and Vince was so desperate to get Roman on TV to keep him in the spotlight and he had him do stupid interviews with Michael Cole back when Roman couldn't cut a promo worth a shit.
      Some would say in 2018 he still can't, but whatever.
      This was a Rumble that had Danial Bryan returning from injury, Dean Ambrose, back when he was over, Dolph Ziggler, back when he was really over, Bray Wyatt, Cesaro, Barrett, and Ryback all in this match and were pretty popular guys. This Rumble could have even had Sting in it because this was before he got injured.
      From that list of names above, any one of those guys could have won the Rumble and it would have been fine, but had it been Bryan, this probably would have been regarded as the greatest Rumble ppv in history.
      And Vince McMahon and his fucking brass ring hallucinations and fetish with having only one guy took all that potential, wiped his shit all over it, and destroyed not just this Rumble, but every Rumble since has felt pretty flat and I think it's all because of this Rumble.
      The way Bryan was eliminated wasn't just anticlimactic, it was disgusting. He got shoved off the apron and landed on his feet. Bullshit.
      Big Show and Kane became a tag team called Troll Patrol where they were sent by the evil Irishman to dump the popular wrestlers out of the ring like losers so the strong, conquering Cool Guy with the sleeve and a goatee could destroy them to show how strong he was.
      Then the Rock was sent out to further enforce how cool Roman was because if the coolest guy in Hollywood thinks Roman is the coolest guy in wrestling, that'll make Roman look really strong and cool.
      Yeah, I can point to this ppv and say that THIS was the match that killed WWE. Say what you want about 2014's Rumble, because WM30 righted all the wrongs of that Rumble, but nothing has ever righted the wrong of the 2015 Royal Rumble and the shoving of Roman down our throats and the burial of so many guys who never recovered from it.
      And what I feel is that with the Rumble returning to Philadelphia... with Brock Lesnar the champion... in a triple threat match... and Roman Reigns going to be in the Rumble again... I feel like history is about to repeat itself.

      im not trying to be a dick here i'm just pointing out a hole in this argument's logic when it comes to reigns, and that is literally Seth Rollins this man has been prominently featured on Raw now for months,he is the money in the bank holder, he has hardly lost, they have paired him up with the authority, he won his feud with dean ambrose, has feuded with cena and currently was feuding with Lesnar. Reings literally has had one or two short sgement's on raw with either a shitty promo or a match or brawl to do with the big show for the past month. Im just saying this logic makes literally no sense to me it seems if anything Rollins is being forced down peoples throat again im not trying to be a dick the only thing that they have done is have him win the rumble which was a mistake alright I'm not saying it wasn't but lets be fair here Rollins is also being forced on us if you think about it

    • @nutzpdug
      @nutzpdug Před 9 lety +1

      chazz p the thing with Rollins is that he isnt being shoved down our throats the way Roman is, at least thats how I feel, yes he gets alot of tv time but i think he can steal the show like at the rumble he looked like a million bucks, but personally Reigns does not seem ready to me man, the way he works and his mic skills are sub par to me, dont get me wrong im not saying he isnt talented because he damn sure is, but Reigns vs Lesnar will start a damn riot, because we all know Brock is dropping the title to Roman, im just hoping Roman works on those mic skills because Roman vs Heyman will be a murder xD remember this is only my thoughts though and I dont intend to start a flame war haha

    • @CaptainMonotone448
      @CaptainMonotone448 Před 9 lety +4

      chazz p It's a very fair point. As a big fans of Rollins, I can easily agree that he has been slightly overexposed on the shows for sure. The problem for Reigns is that he is literally being paraded around as a reskin of John Cena and that reason alone is enough for some fans to resent him with a passion. The fact that Rollins is an indy darling seems to equal an instant pass for him too, which I've personally never agreed with.

    • @nutzpdug
      @nutzpdug Před 9 lety +1

      chazz p I think Rollins being shoved down our throats makes sense, because hes the Authoritys man, if the Authority is the big bad corporate group like they are supposed to be, screwing over people and all that, of course they will shove their man Rollins in everything and shove him down our throats because thats what they do, makes complete sense to me but hey thats me haha

      @tamato7607 Před 9 lety

      CaptainMonotone448 i see your point, and you know its sad that Reigns is seen that way, but in alot of ways WWE has done nothing much to change people's perception of Reigns. I love Roman i love his look, and i think he has all the potential in the world. For them to rebound from this they will need to handle this situation very carefully but i did not think he should have won. and exactly man that's where my frustration comes from, it seems as indy darling's do get free passes and i don't think it is right either or fair to a guy like Reigns, i want to stress i don't hate Seth Rollins i think he is fantastic and has a bright future

    WWE has already ruined what would've been one of the greatest stories in company history, and they have no one to blame but themselves.
    Poor Roman Reigns.
    That's not sarcasm, folks. I really feel bad for the guy. And how could you not? He didn't do anything wrong. He's only doing what the madman running show is telling him to do, and this madman has decided to push the future of the company to the moon right here and goddamn now. His victory in Sunday night's Royal Rumble, the biggest victory of his entire career up to this point, should've been his shining moment, kickstarting the ultimate realization of what is the dream of every man in this business: main-eventing Wrestlemania.
    And then everyone proceeded to shit all over him. They turned on Reigns right from the getgo, and their anger and frustration only intesnfied as the match progressed. Little by little, the field dwindled until only Reigns, Rusev, Big Show (?) and Kane (????) made up the final four. I could go on and on about the bullshit finish to this match, about how the fans were actually cheering the megaheel Rusev when it was down to just him and the "top babyface" Reigns, about how not even The Rock's endorsement of Reigns (his real-life cousin) after the match didn't sway the pissed-off Philly crowd, or about how #CancelWWENetwork became the top trend on Twitter worldwide in the aftermath of this disaster, but I'll instead make a simple statement that is painfully obvious to anyone with a working set of eyes and ears: WWE is in an ugly situation.
    Of course, the outrage directed at Reigns can be traced back to a moment earlier in the match when a certain bearded, perennial underdog, who was the fans' pick to win it all, was unceremoniously eliminated early in the match after only ten minutes and eleven seconds of action. Speaking of which, do you know what Stardust, Big E, Jack Swagger, Ryback, and Kane all have in common? They all lasted longer than Daniel Bryan. Daniel fucking Bryan, the hero of Wrestlemania XXX. The man who had won hearts of the WWE Universe (did I mention how much I really fucking hate that name?). The man who had never been beaten for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and thus had a rightful claim to the crown.
    I've seen plenty of bad booking, but holy shit, this was BAD.
    OK, now that we've indentified the problem with this match, let's have some fun and talk about how they should have booked it.
    Right off the bat, maybe let's not eliminate Bryan so early in the match. Instead let's have him and Bray Wyatt (who was an absolute monster in this match, eliminating six guys and lasting forty-seven minutes before being eliminated by... Big Show and Kane? WTF?!) lock horns for a little while longer. And by "a little while longer" I mean "they're among the final four along with Reigns and Rusev." That's right, no Big Show and Kane burying younger talent, but instead you have four young guys with bright futures who genuinely deserve to be in the final four.
    Actually, let's backtrack just a bit. The final five (I know the final four is supposed to be a big deal, but bear with me) is comprised of Daniel Bryan, Roman Reigns, Bray Wyatt, Rusev and either Dolph Ziggler or Dean Ambrose. Bray continues his dominant Rumble performance by tossing out Ziggler/Ambrose, but is, in turn, dumped out by Bryan while momentarily distracted. Yes, Bray is such a badass that Bryan, rather than confront him head on, has to sneak from behind and eliminate him in a bit of an underhanded fashion. However, Bray refuses to go quietly. He pulls Bryan out through the ropes (remember that) and kills him. He goes absolutely medeival on Bryan's ass, completely destroying him and leaving him a lifeless heap on the floor, playing the part of the ruthless, monster heel that WWE so desperately needs him to be.
    As all of this is going on, Reigns and Rusev have been going at it, with Reigns eventually eliminating the Russian (but not with the Superman Punch. We want to save that spot for later). Now, the only thing between Reigns and a title shot at Wrestlemania is a guy who's lying on the floor, so badly beaten that he can barely stand. Reigns stands in the middle of the ring a conflicted man while Bryan stuggles to get to his feet and back in the ring. The two men lock eyes as Bryan, moving slowly and clutching his ribs, walks up to Reigns. After a brief staredown, Bryan suddenly slaps Reigns in the face. Reigns' conflicted feelings turn to stunned confusion, and then immediately to rage as he dishes out of beatdown of his own. Bryan mounts a brief comeback, wearing down Reigns with a series of kicks, but is soon on the recieving end of a spear. Reigns picks Bryan up and attempts to toss him out, but Bryan miraculously avoids elimination by hanging onto the ropes. Bryan stands on the apron, clutching the ropes for dear life. Reigns goes to finish him off with the Superman Punch, but Bryan ducks and delivers a kick through the ropes to Reigns' midsection. One running knee later, and Bryan has suddenly softened Reigns enough to toss him out, winning the Rumble.
    The crowd explodes. "YES!" chants fill the arena as Bryan is announced as the winner and the pyro around the Wrestlemania sign goes off. Reigns sits on the floor, overcome with disbelief. He then re enters the ring during Bryan's celebration. After another brief staredown, the two shake hands and embrace. Reigns raises Bryan's hand in victory. Seriously, if you want fans to accept Reigns as a babyface, this is the way to do it.
    Of course, winning the Royal Rumble is only half the battle, and Bryan's next obstacle comes in the form of the seemingly invincible, ruthless behemoth with an unbreakable, ironclad grip on the company's top prize, the WWE World Heavyeight Championship...
    Actually, allow me a moment to channel my inner Paul Heyman...
    "The Man who Conquered the Undertaker's Streak... The One in 21-1. The Undisputed WWE World Heavyweight Champion... BAHROCKKKKKK LESNARRRRRRR!"
    Daniel Bryan vs. Brock Lesnar. For fuck's sake, the story practically writes itself. The Hero of Wrestlemania XXX vs. The Villain of Wrestlemania XXX. The perrenial underdog vs. the freak of nature. David vs. Goliath.
    And as for the match itself, let's just say it could potentially be the most cathartic Wrestlemania Main Event in the company's history for two reasons:
    1) Nobody dishes out an ass kicking like Brock Lesnar.
    2) Nobody sells an ass kicking like Daniel Bryan.
    I'm seeing a match where the first half is a completely one-sided affair. Lesnar just dominates Bryan not unlike the way he dominated Cena at Summerslam. Just picture it for a moment: Daniel Bryan crying out in pain as he's being mercilessly beaten down by a cold, emotionless brute. He'd have you believe he's actually getting killed out there, Maybe he gets busted open, too (God forbid anyone bleeds anymore). I can't think of a more heartbraking image you could possibly throw up there.
    Bryan somehow survives an F5, and from that point on is slowly able to turn the tide of the match. Like he's done so many times in his career, Bryan gradually chips away at the beast with absolutely anything he can throw at him. Lesnar doesn't exactly take all of this lying down, and continues to mount offense of his own, but he's getting slower, weaker and more dazed. Bryan is able to escape a second attempt at an F5 and puts Lesnar in the YES lock. Lesnar fights the hold for what seems like an eternity but eventually taps. Bryan has slayed the beast, and there are tears in his eyes as he's once again awarded the WWE World Heavyweight Title.
    Everything that happends after, if handled properly, would make for damn good television. Seth Rollins inevitably cashes in his Money in the Bank contract, either immediately after the Lesnar match or the night after Wrestlemania, and becomes champion, thus setting off a program between the two that could result in the two exchaning the title over two or three PPV matches. There's also a renewal of the Bryan vs. Bray Wyatt feud, which could take us all the way to Summerslam.
    I'm getting giddy just thinking about all this.
    The giddiness is gone. I'm angry now. None of this is going to happen.
    You just HAD to push Reigns this year. You couldn't, say, wait another year. Maybe see how he pans out.
    And Vince wonders why NXT is considered the superior show.

    Great call on the Bubba Ray entrance, easily my favourite part of the rumble. The whole Rumble match took a nose dive for me as soon as Bryan was eliminated. I knew Reigns was winning, but I was at least looking forward to seeing Bryan have a marathon run... and I didn't even get that. When Ambrose, Ziggler and Wyatt were pushed aside in such a lame way, I hit rock bottom in the amount of fucks I could give.
    As for Reigns winning... sigh... at least I saw it coming, helped to cushion the blow. Like Solomonster said, their needs to be an established difference between fans who are just angry that Bryan lost and fans who are angry that Reigns won.

    You're right. It's not Roman Reign's nor any other wrestler's fault for what happened at the royal rumble. The best way i can explain it is like this: Some is cooking a really good meal but instead of serving it on a nice plate with a salad and good drink, they put the food on a garbage lid they found outside on gabage pick up today in summer and they expect you to eat it. WWE put all of the wrestlers in that match in such a bad spot, there was no way they could salvage anything.

      HAMDIZZLE94 I actually wouldn't have minded that. With Rock as a heel, you would've had Rock with his 2003 Hollywood gimmick. That match would've been 10x better than Rock's match with Cena. Rock puts Bryan over and it isn't a bad way for Rock to end his career.

    They've put themselves in a corner. As yourself and many others have stated, this is what happens from not building multiplt top guys. Also, while i agree with your point that the booking of the Rumble was horrendous, I think most people that are angry are these Daniel Bryan stans who want him to win everything on earth and wont allow any one else up at the top with him. It was the same with CM Punk fans. I love D-Bry, but i would like for some younger guys to get a shot at the top. Ambrose and Reigns are 2 guys in their 20's who deserve a shot. D-Bry is a 30 plus guy now, and with that injury, who knows how much his career has been shortened.

    The HBK story he is talking about is that HBK was obsessed with facing the Undertaker for the 2nd time, but the Undertaker declined. At the time of the Royal Rumble, Undertaker was World Heavyweight Champ, so HBK wanted to win so Undertaker couldn't turn him down. Then he got dumped out. At Elimination Chamber, the next PPV, HBK came out through the floor and cost the Undertaker the match to Chris Jericho, which prompted Undertaker to agree to the match.

    A lot of the time, Rumbles are bad because there are only 2 or 3 guys who could win it and it would make sense. This was NOT the case this year! I would argue that they had 6 guys who they could have made win this match. SIX! Rusev, Wyatt, Bryan, Cesaro, Ambrose, and Ziggler. All could have won and build to a great match. Roman Reigns is way to green to Main event Mania! The fans feel like he was forced down their throats and don't want him. I would honestly say this was the worst rumble ever. The ending was so dumb. All the guys i said should have won were in the rumble for a pretty short time.(Except Wyatt). And yet they go with Reigns. I am so sick of Vince saying that he listens to the fans and then forces guys he picks down our throats when the fans clearly gave him a huge pool to choose from. Its sad to say, but I honestly think it might be time for Vince to step down. He just doesnt have it in him anymore.

      They're similar moves, but not the exact same move. The F5 has some torque on it, and spins like a tornado, hence the name. And yes, Cena named it the FU as an insult to Brock and his F5 in their short-lived 2003 feud, that Brock won. But since WWE is PG now, the FU hasn't been called that in years. It's the Attitude Adjustment now.

He has the potential to be a big star if they book him like a Goldberg (badass mystery man) type and let the character develop on its own. It really does seem like Vince has lost his touch and just doesnt give a fuck about what the fans want. Its a shame too. They have a roster thats loaded with talent.

    I don't give a rat's ass how the ECW "hard core" Philly fans think about Reigns. They are the same comic book nerds that bitch about every comic book movie but still pay to see the movie. I've been a fan since 91 and I don't get todays fans. I'm tired of every guy over 6'2" getting the "You can't wrestle" chant. If todays fans were around in 91-94 they would have killed the Undertaker off. 7 footer? 4 moves? doesn't sell? has a bad ass gimmick??????Let him have comic book nerds! "You can't wrestle!".....to be fair this is partly WWE's fault. They know what kind of fans are in Philly. If you're going to have a PPV in the land of angry virgins then don't put a top baby face that's 6'3" go over. If you want a guy thats over with main stream fans, thats over 6'2" to go over then don't do it in the nerdy ECW fan's back yard.
    P.S. I loved the old ECW in the 90's but the fan base is brain dead...for the most part, not all, but a lot.

Well worth putting up with 30 second ads.
