    Lols, I just love how well mixed the concrete mix look.
    Maybe I might have missed a video of that, but what's the measurements of your mix?

    Do you use admix in the mortar? I've noticed you lay bricks without tapping the bricks. Only time I've gotten to do that was when we worked in the rain and the mortar was extra wet (those specific bricks soaked up water like a sponge so it was perfect)

    • @richardstetson8221
      @richardstetson8221 Před 2 lety +3

      You are supposed to be able to lay bricks without tapping them down if you have to hit them down with your trowel it means the mortar is too stiff or you are spreading too much it's called gauging your mortar and it takes practice I know what you mean about the admix the guys in the uk use a plasticizer and the mortar looks alot more creamy than what we use in the United States

  • @justanotherfuckingvegan6740

    Bro, great video. Where do you buy the sill in the GTA and do they make it to size or cast it? Biggups, inspired me for doing some home diy

  • @johngrondin8258

    Those voids on top the brick are ment to be layer downwards so In water does not sit on the brick and get inside or in colder climates freeze

    • @martini.b1888
      @martini.b1888 Před 2 měsíci

      The void is known as a frog and (in the UK at least) should be laid frog up and filled with mortar. The BSI code of practice explicitly stated this. Frog up gives a stronger bond and better acoustic performance. The practice of frogging (laying frog down) does apply for a top course of an exposed exterior wall (such as a garden wall) for the reason you mention, but even then, solid bricks (without frogs) for the top course (or engineering bricks, or a cap-piece) would be better - but more expensive.

    Did he put another wedge in before he removed the first wedge, to hold the sill up? I see him tapping on something else with his hammer before he pulls his first wedge out but can't hear what he said because of the jackhammer.

    Great stuff guys! It is just shocking what technology is still in use in UK! This stuff is pretty much banned in other parts of the world.

    Usually l will use squeeze bag.
    Add some bonding glue to mortar so it squeezes nicely and just tuck point it tight

    Did you know that stihl makes a pump can so you can hook water up to the saw without having to connect a hose and it works good because you can control the water so it's just enough to keep the dust down without getting you soaked and you don't have to hook up a bunch of hoses to get to where your working

  • @bobrat

    Will you cut a drip edge on the bottom?
    Maybe sell the owner a multi year tuck pointing arrangement.👍

    Bought a property that had two damaged window sills similar to this. Hard to imagine why previous owners didn’t get them fixed after seeing this video
