      @@SJH22 Yeah, he's just a smart vet. We saw with Peyton and Favre that washed out players can still get to Super Bowls as long as they're "game managers" and have a great defense.
      That said, Flacco's deep ball is still pretty good. He probably gets resigned next year.

He's a better QB than many guys who have better stats or even won MVPs during his heyday like Matt Ryan or Cam Newton. he's the very definition of game manager.

    Flacco is throwing and scrambling as good as when he was at the top of his game. He has rested a few years so he is physically healthy and has a lot of experience. Can read defenses better than most QBs currently playing. Is fun to watch. He could have easily had 1 or 2 more rings, not for drop balls by his receivers at key moments against the Patriots and Steelers

    "Upside" is valued way too highly in today's NFL, to the extent that quality veterans are being passed over for younger unknowns who end up not panning out. You do not need upside at the backup QB position, you need someone who knows how to perform the role at the NFL level.

    • @cday0075
      @cday0075 Před 7 měsíci +2

      The thing is, Flacco is bringing the upside here. He’s throwing TDs and plenty of picks, he’s actually being a high risk/reward QB right now rather than just a game manager/role QB. But that’s exactly what the browns needed, because the QBs before were already throwing tons of picks and the defense could bail them out a bit, they just weren’t putting up any points with them. I think what’s working so well for Flacco right now is he can just cut loose and make mistakes so long as he puts up a couple pretty balls too.

    A lot of his picks are nothing burgers. The two he threw in the Texans game were in the 2 minute of the first half. One was a 3rd down arm punt, and the other ended the half in the endzone. Others were learning the offense and not on time with WRs

    Flacco was extremely accurate when feet were set and he could follow through. He got to a point where I could just watch his release and know we were about to get a first down. The line in front of him deteriorated after he got the bag in Baltimore though and his play declined with it.

      Joe was always a top QB if you gave him at least 3 seconds. That's not asking a lot. Maybe only one of two QBs could deal with 3 seconds or less. Brady. Manning.. and even they had their worst games with 3 seconds or less

Not saying the guy was hot in 2018 before Lamar took over . They wanted trade bait instead of a superbowl. I seen joe play good ball and he played excellent ball under Garry Kubiac! Flacco can play with the best of them. Everyone wants a runner but this dude holds records in the playoff win category! Joe has weapons again with a defense that’s screaming Super Bowl. This is the perfect situation for flacco. It's his last shot to prove he can still do it. Stefanski basically is squeezing every bit left out of flaccos arm right now because our defense is good enough to bail us out most of the time if he throws a pick.
