Who doesn't love painting some Splittermuster Camouflage? I had a lot of fun painting this! I also hope you enjoyed the longer format.
I forgot to mention that I put a dot of white within the lens of the binoculars and scope. I then finished it with a small dot of gloss varnish, that'll give the area shine or that glass look we are trying to achieve.

Nice idea on the binos. What gloss varnish do you use? Agree about cartoonish stuff - can't bring myself to use BA figures so make and play 1/35

@jeffkeith637 thanks a lot buddy. I use Vallejo Gloss Varnish, it comes in the same bottle as the paints. Yeah, I think people ace splinter but it always looks very 'unrealistic' for my tastes. 1/35 is something I'm yet to attempt 🤣

Breadbags were a wealth of different 'military' colors most commonly greens, browns, tans and, of course, feldgrau. They were made by different manufacturers and the specifications for color etc. weren't precise - so they varied quite a bit.
Interestingly this is often NOT the case with Luftwaffe units. A great many/most of theirs were made by one manufacturer and as a result were more uniform. They were a soft of blue grey color. Obviously they were sometimes damaged or lost and replaced with whatever the soldier could get, but the issue ones were pretty uniform for the Luftwaffe.

Thanks a lot for the information buddy, I was aware that things changed a lot but this comment has definitely made me understand the process a lot more. Thank you 🙌

NIce painting. I think the "extra" strap is meant to be the lower gasmask canister strap. The gasmask canister had two straps; a shoulder strap which attached at the lid end and a belt strap attached at the other end. It looks like the sculpter has got confused here and made them both come from the lid end.

Ah well that makes sense. I couldn't really make out what it was so I just painted it as something different 🤣 I appreciate the info and kind words 😊😊

My first Bolt Action army was Fallschirmjagers. However, I struggled so much to get the camo don that I eventually painted up in the Tropical scheme & incorporated them into my Africa Korps. My second attempt was to create a Luftwaffe field div using some leftover DAK & Fallschirmjager parts which looked better & I found that a toothpick was the perfect tool for getting the sharp edges of the pattern.

Oh that's awesome and what a great idea with using the tropical uniforms! Sounds like you've got a good technique 👌

I just keep doing triangle style markings. But I do pull off the small linear stripes too. It's tricky , but perseverance is the key . Test out on an old figure first too. Excellent painting btw .

Thanks a lot buddy 🙌 yeah it really comes down to what works best for each individual. Definitely use a test figure first 😅 the amount of times I've gone straight into it and then screwed up!

Another great video and also splinter in 28mm....yay!!!! Thanks for all your help and advice mate, it's been a perfect video for me that's for sure. Have you considered Vallejo's Black brown instead of straight black? Once I discovered that it made me appreciate just how stark black truly is. The Black Brown is 1000 times better (IMHO) I was interested to hear your take on flesh too. I went the Army painter route but ended up switching their base coat out for a warmer tone. The thing is, they have a wash like Vallejo too but it's too red. I guess for 1/35 it's perfect so I would thin with water, but it really wasn't ideal. THEN, I discovered their medium that you mix into that red wash and hey presto, what a huge difference again! Overall, I'm more a Vallejo guy but AP do have some great products. Anyway, thanks again, great video, wonderful presentation & an awesome finished model to boot.

Thank you so much buddy 🙌 🙌 I'm so glad you found this useful. I have considered black brown but I wanted to try black this time round. I used the technique shown in the video on my Knights Hospitaller and I really liked how it came out so thought I'd use it on the webbing. I think in my next video I'll use Black Brown so I can compare the two together 😉 that's interesting about the flesh, I'll look into it as I like the sounds of how you rectified your issue 🤔
Thanks again for the lovely words, it's amazing to hear such positive feedback!

How do you film your work without the camera getting in the way? It's something I still haven't figured a solution for my own set up.

    • @paintingpanzers

Thanks mate 👍 👌 honestly, my method is terrible lol. Its literally my camera on a tripod, I have to work around it and its incredibly frustrating. I'm intending to get one of those arms that you can attach to a table 🤣
I put the front two legs of the tripod on it's tip toes (if that makes any sense) and point the camera as far down as I can. I can send through a picture if you message me on FB or Insta 🤣
