Arrma Senton - My New Truck and fast laps for the leaderboard

- So I could not resist any longer and picked up an Arrma Senton Mega 550. It is not the cool brushless one but I saved a ton of money on it so if I were to add a brushless later on I would still break even!! First look and its first run. It goes up on the leaderboard as well!
You guys are all awesome and I appreciate all the great comments and questions from everyone. Really enjoying talking to you all in the comments section.

Thanks Mark!! It is a fun one and just about the perfect mix of power and speed for my track so I think it will be used quite often!! It was too good of a deal to pass up and glad I went ahead and got it. I am telling you that horse fly had marking and tail lights on it!!! It wasn't even buzzing it was so big it was just making a humming sound!! Any bigger I could have seen the landing gear and pilot in there!!

Sir you truly did get an awesome deal with that Senton, My Granit 4X4 Mega has gone through a lot of changes to what it is now. and it is a beast of a vehicle. Seems like you had something that did not want you to have fun (Horse Flies) but I think the Senton did a awesome job running the track. Thanks for sharing your video with us.💯💯💥💥💥💥💥💥👍🤜🤛
Yeah, I am very pleased with the performance. It is almost perfectly powered at the moment for the track. Just enough to get loose but not too much so you are always fighting it. It was a great deal that was made even better by the really great track run !!! That horse fly was ridiculous! I am pretty sure it may have been a small drone or something!!
I saw this and almost got one too . Great trucks, but at the time think ( last week) I had just previously bought something else I had been looking for!Glad you got one! These are great! The 540 motors are kinda slow both in 2s and 3s , but you get that Arrma torque and toughness! Brushless can be added cheaply! Super great buy. Always good to watch T.H. Sales! Yeah, the brushless ready is one big reason I went ahead and got it. My problem with going brushless in many cases is the truck is already expensive and then the brushless system on top makes it real expensive but with this one I can add a $100 brushless system and still have paid the normal retail price for the standard Mega 550 truck!!! I plan to keep it brushed for a while to get used to it and wait for a great deal on a brushless system to come along and then upgrade it. Have a great weekend my friend!

Yeah for $150 it is a great deal and share a lot of parts with the Granite so since I already had that I can swap out parts if needed to keep going! It ran surprisingly well right out of the box too! Thanks for stopping by and checking in!
Just got mine delivered from Tower today. Can’t beat that price.
I mean you really can't. Not for something this tough and with this amount of parts support. I do suggest grabbing a couple fans as the electronics do run hot in there. I had no problems with overheating but they were toasty after a full battery. It should be a lot of fun, have a blast with it!!
Hi Addam, a great Arrma indeed. The three prong mains pins is the UK (thats the + & - the middle one being the earth connection) the other round two prong is the European style connections. I have the Arrma Typhon Mega 550, it’s a great RC and runs either 2s or 8.4v and is my go to 1/8 buggy for serious thrashing around. Absolute bargain at only $150! if only I could get that here in the UK! Have fun my friend. Take care and best wishes to you and the family 😊😉😁
Maybe they will goof and send a pallet or two over there with US only chargers!! I had no idea of the charger plug to be honest... My only stay in Europe was in on-base housing in Germany so everything was wired for US standards. I do like this truck and they had the Typhon on sale prior but I think I had just bought something else and held off and when I went back they had sold out of them already. but they also had them on clearance sale super cheap too. I think this one is perfect for the track and it was a blast to drive. Some practice and maybe some more appropriate tires it may be the fastest one I have for the track at the moment!! This was about the third or fourth rc I ever bought and I was really impressed. Built like a tank . Did find stones could jam the steering but baring that spot on . I keep eyeing up the mega infraction 👍
Thankfully this one will mainly be a track truck but I did notice it had some chunks in the chassis when I got done so I may look into once of the chassis covers as long as it won't interfere wit the fans I am putting in. I think I will have a lot of fun with this on the track and eventually will probably upgrade to a brushless system. There larger basher and street basher look fun but get expensive real fast and think for me the Mega editions are just about right!
Mega infraction is fun. I converted mine to brushless but actually miss it as brushed for bashing around flat dirt areas etc.
That's a tremendous value Addam! Can't beat a RTR ARRMA for $150. Looks like a solid performer out there 👍🏻👍🏻.
It is a heck of deal and I had been eyeing it for quite a while... like 3 months maybe! I had held out until they dropped it the additional 20 bucks! That was my breaking point!! It did really well on the track and it has just the right amount of power for my track.

I was very impressed with it right out of the box! I felt it was going to be good but it still surprised me with the great lap times and no practice with it!!

These are a lot of fun and tough as nails. I have this, the granite (now brushless) and the Typhon 3s and all of them are a blast. This one drives and handles well and it is just a great time out running it on the track or bombing it around in the yard. The Arrma lineup had some issues early on but I think they have worked out the bugs and are making some great stuff.
Both the brushed and brushless Sentons are really good rigs Addam and for that price you made a awesome deal🙂👍

Wow that's a great bargain Addam. I love the 3s Arrmas and they will take such a beating compared to the Tamiyas. I would definitely go brushless with this if you are planning to run it in a larger area but it's fine for your track as it is. Btw the chunky 3 rectangular pin plug is the UK one and the 2 round pins are for Europe. Like you say that charger is no use anyway!
It was a great run right out the box and should only get better! I do think it will get a brushless system in it at some point but not right away. I can still toss in a $100 brushless system in there and still have only paid the same as a regular Senton 550!! so I will be one the look out for a goo deal on a decent system. We are coming up on the holiday sale season soon enough!! Yeah those wall chargers are only good for taking up space! It took a while to charge the battery on my regular charger, it would have taken all night to charge on that supplied one! Thanks for the clarification of the plug types... I was guessing at best. When we lived in Germany it was on base and all that was wired for US standards so I have no experience with them other than what I have seen in the movies!! Obviously those were not terribly accurate!

Sadly they do not offer international shipping... Sorry my friend! It did run really well for its first time out. I only drove it around like 4 laps before I started the timed laps so it put in some really good laps times being fresh out of the box! I am sure once I get used to the lack of traction from the smaller tires and get my throttle finger under control those times will get better!

I have wanted to get another short course truck but was planning on getting more of a race level truck but when these went on sale it was hard to pass up but then when they dropped the price again another $20 I had to get one. I like it and it runs really well, I was surprised by how stable it was on the turf section. (Keep this between us but there may be a chance to win one of these in the future!)

I tend to go for the build kits as well but since they did all that hard work for me and are selling them at a kit price I kind of couldn't pass it up!!! I absolute best thing about RTRs is not having to paint. I am getting very tired of masking, painting, fixing issues, cutting decals and then applying them. I can enjoy this one for what it is... A lazy break from things!! Also it gives me one I have no time investment in in getting all that stuff done so scratches and crashes don't phase me at all!! I really love the builds but the painting lately has gotten me tired. Mostly due to issues which I'll cover in upcoming videos.
These are a great value, I picked up the Granite for my father-in-law at $169, then grabbed a Typhon for myself at $149, saw that same second price drop on the Senton, and snatched it up as the new friends & family rc at the $149 price, I was on the fence when it was $169, so obviously they made up my mind for me when they dropped it to $149, lol 🍻 We have noticed the same clicking in the driveline with ours as well.
Yeah, I was holding strong at the slightly higher price but when they dropped it the extra $20 I lost the will to hold out and went ahead and ordered it! I am only so strong!! I am really pleased with it and it seems to be just the perfect amount of power for my track. Just enough to get loose and squirrely but not so much you are always loose and squirrely! I may upgrade to brushless eventually but for now I am really tickled with the deal I got on a great track truck!! It has been clicking in my granite for a while so I am not sure if it is in the gearbox of the drive shafts but it seems to not care and be an issue so I am letting it eat! Others have said the same thing so I assume it is a normal thing and it is just the "Arrma click"! You did well to get a good roundup of cars for a great price!!

The Arrma Senton Mega is a very good 4WD Set and at that price you can't beat it. By the way I just checked and they're still in stock. The ticking noise is common. I bought one of the Infraction Mega and it does it sometimes. As you probably know, there are some CZcams videos about it. Your speculation about the European destination is probably correct. On my Infraction shipping box I think the destination was stated as Hamburg. It was since of you share the bargain and I think you'll have a blast with it on your track. Keep up the good work and having fun.
Well I feel bad that folks over there may not be able to find these easily as they are all sitting over here but I surely lucked out and got a deal!! I think t is a great truck and it is fast enough and stable enough to have a ton of fun but slow enough to be suited for my track just about perfectly. Much more power and it would be too difficult to drive and any less it would not be as exciting! I may upgrade to brushless eventually but for now this is a lot of fun and I hope others can benefit from the deal! There will be more on this truck in a little while, something really cool I hope!!

Thanks, I am impressed with the punishment the Granite has taken so I had no concerns in getting this one! It is just about perfect for my track size too. Not too much power and speed but enough to get you out of control so the excitement is still there!
Bought same one for my non-RC addict brother and I got it for the same reasons you did. Plus I can supply him with spare parts from my Granite if his breaks.
I mean it is hard to pass up on such a great deal and like you said they share many of the same parts. Hope he has fun with it and doesn't need to many parts for it! That was also really nice of you to share the fun with your brother!
The damned horse flies, they seem to get bigger every year! They usually hunt me when I cut the grass, so I need to stop and fight!
It's a cool truck, I'm pretty sure it will get below ten seconds pretty soon, just practice and try not to sweat!
I'm a big Arrma fanboy myself, I've watched hundreds of videos with them, I don't own one yet though, ha ha!
This horse fly was no joke, one of those big boys that almost hums when flying around! I got him with my hat but he flew off. I won the fight, that is all that mattered! I was surprised to see the times as it didn't "feel" that fast and I only drove it around like 4 laps before I started the timed laps so no wheel time to speak of. Other than the smaller tires letting it get out of shape when I was trying to accelerate down the straight or out of the corners it was golden. I just need some more time with it to get the throttle control down for it better. I like watching the bigger Arrma trucks run all over and do all the stunt but I hate breaking things and waiting on parts! Plus those thing get pricey real fast!!! I think the biggest one I may get is the Big Rock. I have been eyeing that one for the last year and from what I have seen it is really tough and not crazy fast like the bigger ones! I think that would be at the top of my speed demon scale for me anymore!

Awesome! I had a regular senton V1 I think, I bashed the living daylights out of it then sold it to "make room". I regret that choice... However, I am chuckling imagining you running around swatting at the horse fly with your radio. :) The senton loves the track it seems too. Cheers!
Dude, that horse fly was huge! It was one that no longer made a buzzing sound but one that made more of a humming sound flying around!! I gave it my best kung-fu moves and swatted it with my hat! It lived but flew off and left me alone so that was the biggest thing! The truck did do very well being fresh out of the box and not tuning or practice with it. I think those times will fall more with some practice and throttle control, I always ant to pin the throttle too soon and cause it to get squirrely!
I'm also not much of a fan of RTR (just because I enjoy the build so much) but you can't go wrong at that price! 👍Great deal and the truck looks like a lot of fun. 🙂I sometimes miss driving my HPI Savage just because you didn't have to worry to much about breaking anything! 😁
Exact same thing here! RTRs are not my normal thing but it is nice to get one every now and then as there is not that sentimental attachment from building it or wanting it as a kid . This is just one to run hard and not care about scratches or if something breaks I don't feel that need to fix it right away! I could not really pass on the deal, I was holding strong at the initial $170 they had it listed for but when they dropped it to the $150 I caved and bought one!

We had a rough week of surprise spending so I am also on a bit of a restriction as well!! I have plenty to keep me busy so it is fine and we needed to knock the other stuff off the list so worth it. The truck is just about perfect for the track. Just enough power to get you out of shape and mess up but not too much so you are always fighting it!! It was a great first run and I am sure with some practice and a watered down track it will get even better lap times!!

I don't mind them from time to time as I don't have that attachment to it like the Tamiya kits and have no issues about tossing it around and scratching it all up. Especially at these prices! I almost bought 2 as the sum of the parts for replacements alone is more than the truck costs but since I have only had one thing go bad on the granite so far I thought it was never going to be needed for parts! I will probably be putting in a brushless setup once I can find a good system for the right price and upgrade this and the granite. For now they are plenty of fun on the track! Plus having this one I can have both on the track at the same time if someone comes over and wants to run something.
You should see if the 8.4 volt battery fits your ground pounder.
Good choice I bought the senton and the Typhon off the scratch and dent. I do like the Typhon more. I'm a sucker for 1/8 buggies
I had seen the Typhon on there but I think I had just bought something else and thought I would wait a while and when I got back t it they were gone! O'well, I am pretty happy with this one and it is just about perfect for my track for the power and speed it delivers. Just enough to get you out of shape but not too much where you are always fighting it either. You made out pretty good as well for getting two kits for around $350.... that is a great day too!!

It really is a great deal. Funny enough they just released their 2wd version of this truck, which is their budget entry level version, for $199! so you can get the full 4wd setup for $50 less!! I love my Tamiya and other kit cars but Arrma and Traxxas both have them beat in parts support and toughness. They don't have that emotional attachment the kit cars do to me which sometimes is nice because I don't care if it get scratched, beaten and broken. Parts are easy to find and cheap vs Tamiya that are next to impossible to find or find for a reasonable price!
That Arrma mega/3s (now 4s) platform is awesome! Super durable, easy to work on and all the parts are cross-compatible.
That was one of the bonus selling points is that is shares a lot of the same parts as my granite. My local hobby shop sells a ton of Arrma stuff so when I break something I can get it same or next day and not have to deal the shipping delays! The granite has proven to be tough and this one I am sure will be equally as tough.

I converted my Senton (that I bought used) into a Vendetta and back into a Senton/Vendetta hybrid running 4s.
@@canuckchuck8836 Yeah, I understand that! It is super easy to walk into a LHS and get parts and also order from any number of online retailers. Fining Tamiya and Kyosho parts is like going on a quests where you need a special map and pouch full of gold coins to find what you are searching for!!
@@AddamsPlayground No kidding! It is worse in Canada because Tamiya does not have any direct sales here and we cannot buy directly from Tamiya USA. We would have to use a shipping service that will forward packages from a US address to Canada as Tamiya USA cannot ship to Canada. We have to go through a supplier that has product exclusivity. They own the rights to distribute Tamiya in Canada. It is hard just trying to find Tamiya wheels and tires here!

I picked up the Arrma Infraction Mega scratch n dent but I was so tempted to pick up the Senton at the same time and you're making me wanna go back and grab it 😩
I worked really well on the track and other than that motor and ESC running hot in them their are terrific trucks! I saw the Infraction sitting there toying with my emotions but onroad is kind of a pain for me as I have to pack it up and take it somewhere to run. it does look fun though!!
I’ve been eyeing their 550 typhons.. they’re 159 I think right now.. they do 3s and for a 1/8 buggy that’s a heluva deal
They actually had them on clearance as well a while ago but those disappeared quick! It was the same thing that they had that international charger in them. I almost got one of those but they went too fast for me to make up my mind. I am happy wit this one but compared to the buggy it is kind of huge so space saving it is not! Money saving it is a heck of a deal!

I thought we had some dangerous creatures like Tiger snakes, drop bears, Funnel Web spiders, crocodiles etc that will chase a person down for dinner here in Australia but thank God we don't have people eating flying horses 😳😂🤣.

Yeah the lightening dragon help it off but just a little bit! I just got the parts in I order for it a while ago so the rear sway bar set is going on soon and I will see if I can shave off any time from what is already some pretty solid lap times! You guys do hold a solid lead on sketchy animals over there! That horse fly was a big one and no longer had that buzzing sound of a bug and more of a humming sound!!! I do not like flying things around me, especially the biting stinging ones! I gave it my best kung-fu moves and swatted it away with my hat... it lived to harass me another day but left me alone through the rest of the run! Australia is a wild and beautiful place and I think I could deal with the snakes, crocs and spiders abut have seen some of the plagues of flies in some parts of the country and I would loose my mind!!! I can't stand buzzing about my face and those things would keep me indoors at all times!!!

Yep we have the horse flies here in the warmer weather, they hurt and usually leave a welt, little buggers!.
We're heading into some warmer weather soon but already find ourselves looking down before we step outside the door incase of a snake, generally they stay away from the house but we have a couple of resident snakes living down the back that are use to our presence now and it's interesting to watch them hunt for frogs etc.
I had a very close call with an aggressive Funnel Webb not long ago hiding under the front of a pair of thongs outside the back door, it was fast and aggressive. If I had been bitten it wouldn't have been a good outcome.

We are finally cooling down some here and have had a nice stretch of weather compared to the horrid heat and humidity previously. a few more months and I'll be complaining about all the leaves falling but not the cooler weather! Actually I don't mind the leave falling as it means the end of hot weather!!

Awesome run I just got something from them to. I have the 3s senton they are definitely though trucks but it likes to blow tires out with the 3s power
Yeah, I am content with the slower trucks now. Speed if excited but it comes at a cost! I totally get it though, I used to be all about how fast they go and high they can jump!! I love my nitro stuff for that but I have gotten lazy I guess and don't wanna fix stuff all the time. I am kind of surprised the 3s stuff is coming undone especially with how good they are with their larger 4,6 and 8s kits... maybe the junior tire gluers are assigned the 2 and 3s line of tires!!!

Yeah sadly the Voltage and the regular series one are vastly different. I know you have not had a great time with that truck. Hopefully not you have gotten all the bugs out of it!

Thanks Fred! It is not a typical one for me but I do like running my Traxxas Slash around (it needs new tries badly) and when I saw this great of a deal on the Senton I had to try it out. I runs circles around my 2wd Slash but that is not too surprising being 4wd! There will be more about this truck later on, something really fun!
How long before the shocks leaked I had to upgrade mine I also had to upgrade the servo to a servo that's about 30 years old and it's never given me any problems but the stock one burned out
I have only driven this one twice now and everything is fine still. I need to get back out with it but just have not had the time. So far everything is holding up but I will keep an eye on them!
Lower it and put the right tires and it will be a 9 to 10 second truck on your track.
I am sure with some more practice and watering the track I can get it regularly into the 10s easily and with some better track tires it could be the first to get into the 9s!! I thought it did pretty good right out of the box going around the track considering the loose nut behind the wheel and only a few laps of practice. It is going to be a fun running truck and a heck of a deal!!!
Looks like an awesome deal. I have already got two Traxxas Slashes, one 4wd and one 2wd and both of them are brushless. On the other hand, I do not own any Arrma models and you can still get one for $150.00. I wish you wouldn’t do things like this to me.

I am sorry(ish) to be a bad influence!! Believe me it happens all the time to me as well! If you like the slash I think you will like this one. I only have the 2wd slash and it is way better than it is on the track but I have not driven the 4wd slash so I can't compare. Good thing is this one is brushless ready when you decide to give it that bump in speed!

LOL! I had been holding out when they were listed at 179 but when they came down another $20... that was my breaking point! It is hard to pass up a 1/2 price sale on a truck like this. Having had the Granite 550 for a while I confident the Senton will hold up to whatever I throw at it!! Thanks as always for checking in!!!

Hello are you still there or did thoose nasty horse flyes eat you up 🤣😂 150 bucks for a new rtr truck is a great deal, they seems to run and hold up great too.
I am still here! It was a really large and persistent one that I was able to swat with my hat! He lived but left me alone after that! It was a great deal and if it holds up as well as my Granite has it was well worth it! I am sure it will as it is a very similar platform.

It does take all the concern away and I can just go out and let it eat and don't care about scratches and breakages. Parts are so easy to get and pretty cheap I don't have to worry about stuff like I do with the Tamiya cars. I have had to order parts from the UK and Japan as they just are not available here. It is kind of sad but for the most part i build the Tamiya kits for the collection and not to run hard so these trucks fill that void and let me go beat on something from time to time!

@@rc-dom-uk I have no idea.. some very common things are easy to find but replacement parts for some kits, tires, wheels and shocks are extremely hot or miss. They show up from time to time but are usually from someone buying kits and breaking them up and selling parts for profit. Getting stuff from Tamiya or retail outlets is really bad and often out of stock notices for many months if not indefinitely...

I was not sure or not, Arrma goes through so many versions of the same kits I don't keep up with them all. I do know with the included wall chargers they could not sell them at regular prices so whichever it is or combination of both made them a heck of a great deal!!
