I hope something is done about puppet management; being able to influence your puppet, giving it certain autonomies, ousting it's leader, forcing more integration, managing their states, etc.
it would be great for 'Bohemia-Moravia' to be in the game or 'General-Government'
you can get the general-government if you have Poland as a puppet as Germany
I do not usually have a lot of hope in such things, but I'm sure they're aware of the problem and if this does not fix it, it at least was a step in the right direction. Mr. Agent 47 and his team did an amazing job and I myself have to admit I'm astonished of how fast their working, skeptical even.
Why not make a puppet dlc where u can make ur puppet spend points on specific stuff instead of just hording it or spending it on stupid stuff... Never have i seen ai spend points on going from civilian to war economy when its a fascist or communist puppet... It always goes for that after like 2 years of being able to take
THIS MUST BE DONE
those puppet names are already in the game just puppet czechoslovakia and poland as nazi germany
I hope casualties done actually has a decent impact on war participation values now, incredibly frustrating to do tons of casualties to the enemy but get barely any war score while another nation, whether AI or a player, is rewarded for playing worse and taking casualties by getting tons of war score
I played as Greece once with my friend as Yug. Both of us inflicted over 1M losses to Germany and Italy each and got nothing in peace conference.
But hey, Claushewitz doesn't allow that with keeping historical accuracy.
^This.
Historically correct, the great powers would decide everything and the smaller countries could only ask
@@crimplay397 except it doesn't only apply to minors. You can play the US and take barely any casualties but inflict millions and end up with little to no war score because the AI rammed its troops against a solid front line for 4 years and took millions of casualties so they got all the war score. I'm not saying casualties shouldn't have any effect on war score but casualties inflicted should effect it far more.
EDIT: it'd probably be hard to balance but it'd also be cool if the game could take into account who you took casualties from and inflicted casualties on in the peace deal to effect what you can take more easily. Example being WW2 ends and US/UK have the same war score but UK has done more fighting against Germany/Italy while US has more on Japan, game looks at casualties of both sides and sees this based on US having done most of the casualties to Japan and taken majority of their casualties from Japan and same for UK and Germany/Italy and in response makes it easier for US to demand things of Japan than Germany and Italy and vice versa for UK
@@crimplay397 war score should be multiplied by what is left from your army at the and and propably nukes
I finally hope they fix Italy with the new peace conference system, seriously, I could never annex the UK like Germany in Vanilla if Italy was my ally.

I think it could still happen but now with the claims system you have a chance of fighting and containing it

The peace conferences will now be really hard to learn, but much more fair. I like it.
If you mean that minor nations that have contributed little to the overall success will have a say in deviding the spoils then it's possible, however considering the amount of time it often takes for players to come to an agreement with the current system, I bet that the new one will make you fall asleep during a multiplayer game peace deal - instead of taking 5 mins it will take 30 because everyone will have the option to say/stall/contest provinces etc.
@@Call_us_Legion yeah isnt that cool
problem i have is how it will affect SP you will have nations with very little participation claiming like 1-2 territories , this might even make some achievements impossible(like forming greater X nation or reforming nation like nord empire , or polish common wealth etc)
it seams that "not calling allies into a war" will be more common(who is already a case a lot in SP)
for MP this is great , but in SP this will make peace conference unusable
@@Call_us_Legion Who does peace deals in MP? It usually just comes down to WW2 and then the game ends.

I like they haven’t overhauled it too much but it should make Ironman games a lot simpler, it means playerled peace conferences will still function after it’s updated appropriately but it still makes the game more playable with it
Hopefully
All of these seems like good changes, though I have a iffing feeling with the peace conference system, I agree it needed work, but I get the feeling it will be broken in a certain way so that it will basically be the same as before.
But, here's to hoping that doesn't happen and that it works out the gate.
Same I'm also not sure about the new peace conference system
Well, I doubt AI will be so insisting on creating gore in your zones of intrest
It’s paradox. It never works out of the gate.
If the peace conference system is fixed, it might bring me back to the game.
I don't think I will be coming back to the game.
@@stoopidapples1596 Just a note. Many MP games, and especially the ones I and my friends run uses the player controlled peace conferance mod, about the best option as it stands currently. And basically argue and debate who has claims on regions and agreeing on what to do. It is a lot of fun, this update hopefully does exactly that.
Since the NSB dlc we can promote Fleet Admirals and Generals with certain traits from LVL 4 - Have you considered the option of adding the possibility of promoting Plane Aces to the Military High Command and Chief of Airforce position? This way we could create our own Air Reformer / Tactical Bombing / Air Training / etc Specialists, Experts and Geniuses - This would allow for a more flexible gameplay and improve the Multiplayer experience since nations could focus on the specifics of the Airforce most suited to their Air use / Overall doctrine - Ex of a multiplayer Hist game and thier focus for planes : Germany on ground support - Hungary on interception - UK on Air Superiority / etc (while still maintaining the option to switch your Specialists to another one instead of relying on the basic 1 or 2 )
I suggest you put this on the forums, this is a really good suggestion

@@jimao233 EZ solution, once you promote an ace to the Military High Command, he becomes the Spec / Expert but stops being an ACE. Well, I might not like the navy rework, but it does tell me that sending the Bismarck out on his own might be a new viable strategy.
i agree to not liking the navy rework. before, all ships except the biggest ones where a viable strategie. now it sounds like a heavy focus on big capital ships is about to become the only viable strategie because everything smaller than that just dies to quickly. (which also makes me worry about screens: if screenshredding lite crusers are not viable anymore because capital ships sink them to fast it might become a viable strategie to build "anti-screen capital ships", which would be outride stupid).
in my oppinion, the best way to make giant, expensive battleships more usefull without destroying the balance of the smaller ships would have been to rebalance the aa-defense system, because naval bombers are the main reason why big capital ships are just not worth it atm.
thouse might be rather grim predictions, but i just dont get why they are going for a complete rebalance of all smaller ships (that worked just fine in my oppinion. nerfing subs a little might be fine though) instead of focusing on the actial problem: its just way to easy to sink very expensive ships with naval bombers!
I would still send some AA support...
You know just in case...
@@cermiosi The naval battle of HOI4 is well break, all ships must have it's role, and i wish that IA stop spamming destroyers and comstruct a proper navy.
@@cermiosi Naval bombers werent really the reason tho, big capital ships are/were just way too expensive. Why build 1 battleship when you can have 5-6 light cruisers that perform better, and build faster?
@@bismarckandthekriegsmarine2954 i mean battleships and light crusers are apples and oranges, they usually have a different purpose. But you could make the same argument about battleships and heavy crusers, so i see your point.
But in my oppinion naval bombers still prevent most nations from using everything bigger than a light cruser (because everything bigger is to expensive AND gets sunk way to fast by the planes)
I gotta say it's very funny to have the production value this video does and one segment is just "We understand Sub 3 is strong, we have nerfed it"
I really hope they decrease the cost on larger ships. It's hard to get invested in navy when it takes so long to build one of my own.
Just make it so that you can assign more dockyards to bigger ships instead of less, the current system is unbelievably retarded.
@@tg-sj2nu yeah like why can't I put 10 dock yards on one capital?

on 3:07 you can see border art that ai still can make with this update. I hope on release this will be fixed
true, but that is the still best border I have ever seen the AI create!
Peace conferences are now (almost) actual conferences!
The Air Groups System is such a great new addition! and im glad to see the peace deals looking better than ever
Wow, this looks highly ambitious and much needed. Thanks Paradox for working on this!
Looking forward to the Peace conference changes and changes made to how war score is generated.
Its silly to me how you can do better in combat then your allies but they get more warscore because they took more casualties then you did, even though you inflicted 5x more casualties on the enemy.
Should be much harder for allies to take or puppet states/countries far from their sphere of influence, and with Soviet troops currently occupying the country.
Most of all looking forward to the quality of life improvements for air combat! I hate the constant ping-ponging of the AI bombing Germany and I have to keep shuffling my fighters around to get them all, but if I intercept them in English channel or benelux region, very few should get through. And that goes double for when i'm intercepting their strats with heavy fighters.
Hearts of Iron appears as the only Paradox game where you (the devs) understand with clear intention what it's meant to be, I enjoy the new simulations and mechanics you bring with every new update, altough it's milked through memes and alt-historical paths. I understand that delaying historical countries like Finland is what keeps the game profitable.
I mean I think a lot of a community plays the game for the alt history part, and honestly, it's just really fun war game.
Loved this presentation of your new features! Looking forward to the next one 😊
i really do love the fact that when they say they listen to their fanbase they mean it that said we really do need a better casualty and a POW system maybe not this update as their adding a lot and they have worked really hard but the game does need it
Every part of this update is amazing. Keep up the good work!
I hoped you would make an option to end the war without having to conquer the whole faction but I guess not

Other than peace treaties now possibly making sense, what I wait for the most (again in this DLC since Nordic DLC (=Finland) isn't still going to happen) is the division commanders. What I always hated about HOI4 was the army structure, as there was none. The improvement the army groups made was something, but not anywhere near enough.
I want the order of battle system HOI3 had. Proper army structure, "unique" divsions (as they have commanders that can rise to command armies). AND possibility to divide divsion in to brigades, as they would have been used. That would require the current "template change" to change a little bit. Like make it take a long time, so it battle situation dividing divisions into brigades to plug gaps or gain advantage in low supply areas for example would be awesome. (This could even be done so you can seperate single battalions from the division, because that is the structure in HOI4 instead of div consisting of briageds. That does though give even more possibility in that the div template design could have the columns represent brigades. Even though I already kind of think it that way, that would mean if you have 3 inf and 1 arty in column-> that is what the brigade would have.
I like the draw frontline attack order and activate (plus micro if you want), but it sucks when your armies are just lifeless empty 24/24 divisions with a general. I want from brigades to divisions to army corps armies and army groups. This "complexity" would make using the theatres makes sense as well.
Hoi4 having nothing more complex than the unit division level and the organisation levels of divisions into armies into army groups was contious choice and imo a good one. Introducing a system like in hoi3 would make it overcomplicated and lead to even more stressfull micromanagement
Yeah do this if you want to loose 50% of the player base. There is a reason HoI4 is so popular, it's relatively simple and fast-paced, at least compared to other Paradox games. If I want to have a relaxing gaming session with my friends, we don't have to spend an hour managing some arbitrary command structure that will inevitably fail as the world gets more cursed with weird AI choices.
I agree, Hoi3 had a much better army hierarchy. organising and structuring your army in hoi3 was so much more fun. The main critique hoi4 got upon its release was how easy it was compared to hoi3. I miss the complexity.
The army hierarchy in HoI 3 was the sole reason I never got into it back in the day. Such pointless tedium.
But I don't have a horse in the race anymore so what do I care.
It's sounds like a really shit idea
You know people are still gonna spam subs because making larger ships and cruisers in an efficient manner requires 20+ dockyards per line at hugely reduce costs. Dockyards should output more per yard or reduce the cost of larger ships natively.
I just REALLY want a change to updating and using stockpiles. I don't want to manually scroll through literal dozens of planes. Even a simple search function would be wonderful

Was just thinking the same thing lol
The bulge was too much for me
I’m surprised that no one is talking about the new air designer, that’s what I’m most excited for
It would be great to ask on the treaties , to limit their aircraft or take certain equiptment or planes and etc
The only thing I miss now, which I to some extent also missed with navy, is single missions. Like instead of sending your aircraft to a region and giving them a mission type, I'd like to tell my CAS for example to hit hostile divisions in this area to reduce their strength before battle. Or single bomber missions to destroy a specific type of building in an area. I guess it's in theory possible to do this by just giving your bomber the respective mission and ground them again, but when you have to micro on the eastern front, then that is not as viable as I'd like to spend as little time as possible on the air screen. In addition I'd like CAS and tac bombers to be able to bomb ground forces out of battle just like they can do with ships. (Historical examples: the bombing of Vemork, the bombing of Vallø, the thousand bomber raid on the Ruhr, the dambuster raid, the attack on Pearl Harbor and carrier warfare in general.) Unless it's a hidden value under attrition, in which case I'd like to make it more clear how effective my air force is in reducing the strength of hostile divisions. Finally I feel like carriers have lost their biggest strength in that they can strike with a strike force at a specific location which they can't in the game because as far as I can tell, they are only deployed when the carrier is in battle or given missions like normal air wings. They should be able to have scout aircraft which can reveal hostile ships and they should be able to send out strike forces to strike specific tiles if there is a target there. But alas I'm probably just dreaming, hardware limit is harsh.
Otherwise, it appears to be a good update and DLC, and I'm looking forward to it.
My concern with the navy rework is with the specification that ship speed won’t be a factor in battles. Are light cruisers and destroyers going to be worthless now if their speed isn’t taken into account?
Id say they would readjuct them onto a anti destroyer anti sub meta rather than just a standard part of your fleet. So for germany id say usless. But for the allies and even italy much more balanced
yeh i thought so to
Seems like battleships going to be so op
"it now matters about how fast and how much damage"
I pray for the Navy Rework to be effective. I love navy history, so I love building fleets that rely on captial ships, because that's how it was in reality. Though it is far away from meta. Spamming cheap ships and naval bombers was just too effective, and it's only thanks to mods and AI ineffectiveness, that this is somewhat effective and not just a roleplaying thing. I hope that building strike fleets with captial ships is becoming easier and more rewarding with this DLC.
In ww2 anything other than carriers was literally useless. The Bismarck was disabled by biplanes, the Yamato sank without ever seeing an allied ship
Peter barely blinked during the time he was speaking. He seems like he can win every staring contest easily.

I would like to see a revamp of army structure. Generals should be ranked into four classes: theatre commander (one per alliance in each theatre), army group commander, army commander, and finally corps commanders. Theatre commanders should be chosen diplomatically and each theatre should have a top commander among the alliance. Only field marshalls can be chosen to lead theatres. On the other end army commanders should have sub generals commanding corps of 1/2 or 1/3 of the army. These junior generals would lead sections of the army in carrying out smaller objectives. Also the higher the generals rank the less expensive he should cost to promote.

Well it would be great to have some kind of tutorial IN THE GAME about how naval-, air-, and land-warfare works. I play Hearts of Iron 4 since its release and still have no clue about navy stuff. So I have no idea how big my fleets should be and whats the difference between a destroyer and a cruiser.
I mean there's a few main things, make a death stack, CLs can give better aa performance, DD are cheap :). Slap radar and sonar have CL help spot threats, strike force is all ships except for subs.
Have subs be their own fleet instead of patrol, if you have a good fleet, send them out to convoy raid the area you have as strike fleet and go ham. Otherwise you can have damage style DD and CLs and scanning types seperate them for patrol and strike force. If you wanna be historicalish that is. Honestly for max ease, do a submarine stack spam them out and let them go ham

What about Naval AAA? I always thought it strange that the AA of escorting CL only functioned to reduce the damage inflicted on the capital ships and not contribute to the shooting down of planes (which only the targeted ship does).
In WW2, picket DD and CLAA ahead and around the CVs were critical for providing an effective air defense, especial against kamikaze attacks. Granted, the effectiveness of screen AA grew over the year was very poor at the outbreak.
