We have the 800 depicted here, and it is amazing. It cleans SO much better than the Frigidaire dishwasher that came with our house and is so quiet it is hard to know when it is on. We've had ours for about 2 years and have had no problems with it at all. I will never go back to another brand.

Nice review. While I like the time display on the floor, it’s not worth $450 to me. And I much prefer the top drawer like the 800 series over the benchmark top drawer. One thing you forgot to mention about the top drawer on the 800 series is there are wings on either side than can be lowered to accommodate items that might otherwise not fit up there, like a wire whisk, for instance.
A couple months ago I replaced a 13 year old SHE68E15UC with an 800 series, SHXM78Z55N/20. The crystal dry feature is the real deal, much improved drying over the older Bosch it replaced. And like all Bosch dishwashers, there are no concerns about plasticware in the bottom rack warping or melting because there’s no bottom heating element for drying like in conventional dishwashers.
I feel like the older Bosch DW door was more substantial, the new door doesn’t feel as solid as the old one, but I’ve not had any problems with it and the new DW works great!

Unless you have a water softener for your house, I would argue the built in water softener makes it worth it. It will end up paying for itself over the life of the dishwasher. With the water softener, you can use 1/2 the normal amount of detergent for the cycle, it won't etch your glassware, all residues (detergent, food, scum, etc) wash away easily, and it will greatly extend the life of the appliance since it won't have hard water buildup in the internal components.
I recently added a whole house softener and I can't tell you enough how much of a difference it made.

We’ve had our water tested and don’t need a softener. I use a powdered detergent and use about half the recommended amount and quite happy with the results at the end of the cycle.

When I saw that $467.99 price when you walked over to the second Bosch 800, I was pretty surprised at inflation over just the past year, when I realized… that was actually for the Whirlpool above 😅 The $1.1k price is higher but far more reasonable for that particular dishwasher. Those Benchmarks though… phew! That’s a hefty premium. $450 isn’t as bad, but ‘round here (Portland area) they’re closer to +$1k more.

Glad to see someone has had success; have had mine for over six months, tried EVERYTHING, just unloaded, a typical load...RESULT: 5 Bowls, 1 Spoon, 1 Cup, and 2 Plates have to be rewashed, i.e. HANDWASHED...that's about average! I'd show a picture/video if I knew how. I know it looks good, but bottom line...at least the 500 series...SUCKS.

I wanted to buy a Miele or, Cove by Sub-Zero. The problem is that when I read the reviews for those two, people who bought them all complained how unreliable they were and said they eventually had to go back to buying a Bosch dishwasher that they owned previously. So it looks like the Bosch 800 series is really the best out there for the money. If you want a good dishwasher that is going to be used personally and not for a rental property, this is the one to buy. I had the 800 series in the house I just sold and when I buy a new house, this is the exact model I plan to buy and install to replace whatever is supplied by the builder. My previous Bosch 800 was $2000. This one is a deal for $1200 at Home Depot. This is a NO BRAINER to buy.

A HUGE buyer's remorse purchase. I need another Bosch, but I will lose the $900 or so I spent on this thing. It looks nice on the outside but is not as quiet or made as well as the Bosch. My last Bosch was nearly $2000.
