Silage 2017 | Kidd Double Chop

Lifting silage on our own farm using a Kidd double chop. The footage is a mixture from first and second cut this year. There is a Same 90 Top on the harvester with a TS 115A and Fiat 566 carting in. The trailers are a mixture of a 8.5 tonne Marshall and 10 tonne Johnston which are on loan from neighbours along side our own 8 tonne Fraser.

Ahh the good old days. When machinery was built to last. We had 16 years of silage with the Kidd another 6 years after for topping grazing fields. Purchased a Kverneland double chop after the Kidd ,two years it was up the road. They had a bearing on inside of flywheel where grass would get into and burn out the bearing. Kidd mounted two bearings on the drive (outer) side. Which worked flawlessly. I was 14 when I got promoted to operate the harvester due to road travel to fields. Very good machine as long you didn’t turn left sharp with a trailer, otherwise you take the tyre of the rim.🤬😞🤣

Nice turnout there, what's the fiat? Haven't seen many like it.Looks very similar to my 80-66.

It's a 566. Yea they are pretty rare I'm yet to come across another one round here. My Grandfather bought it new out of Riddell's in '83.

Aye she's been here for 5 years. Does well on the double chop just gets a bit warm at times.

Them kidd blowers leve the half of the grass in the field. Never liked them. Newholland 342 better cutter but bit soft. Needs mowed down for a nice cut.
