  • As the Sixties drew to a close, many popular bands of the time saw the need to evolve and change ... but few made it! Notable exceptions were The Beegees and The Hollies. When this release entered the UK charts in October 1969, it marked a radical new style for them. Elton John is the piano player on this one ....

      Matthew 12:46-50
      New Testament for Everyone
46 Suddenly, while he was speaking to the crowds, his mother and his brothers came and stood outside, hoping for a chance to speak to him.
47 “Look,” someone said to him, “your mother and your brothers are standing outside wanting to speak to you.”
48 “Who is my mother?” said Jesus to the person who had spoken to him. “Who are my brothers?”
49 Then he stretched out his hand towards his disciples.
“Look!” he said. “Here are my mother and my brothers. 50 Yes; anyone who does what my heavenly father wants is my brother, and my sister, and my mother.”

I have a question for you, Do all the proceeds who donate to wounded warriors project go to all who are in need, because they advertise with celebrities and commercials that have to be paid for, so I'm just wondering if most of the money donated by the people who care, are their funds being used for the betterment of those impacted by War and not to profit off the poor people giving their money away?

Back in 1918, a boy named Howard Loomis was abandoned by his mother at Father Flanagan’s Home for Boys, which had opened just a year earlier. Howard had polio and wore heavy leg braces. Walking was difficult for him, especially when he had to go up or down steps.
Soon, several of the Home’s older boys were carrying Howard up and down the stairs.
One day, Father Flanagan asked Reuben Granger, one of those older boys, if carrying Howard was hard.
    Reuben replied, “He ain’t heavy, Father… he’s m’ brother.”

Now I don’t know if my version is correct but I believe the correct telling of the story is that there were two brothers going to a place called “Boys Town” and they had to walk. The youngest one got tired and physically couldn’t walk anymore, so he carried him all the way there. And when he arrived they asked him if he was heavy and he replied “He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother.”

When I lost my younger brother Martin I played this song over and over again. Not because I took care of him but because he took care of me. You see there was a time when I was addicted to pain pills and I mean bad. I had no place to go because of my addiction and the withdrawals I would have. When I would withdrawal I'd go crazy so my wife asked me to leave. At the time this happened me and my brother weren't getting along. As a matter of fact I hadn't talked to him in about a year. I was living at the park and I went to his apartment to ask him for help. Without hesitation he took me in knowing my problem. During the time I was staying with him I had a heart attack. I was in the hospital for a week and during that time my brother had a heart attack and died. I'll never forget what he did for me. Everytime I hear this song it reminds me of how he took me in knowing the struggle I was going through.

One of the best songs ever written. I try to sing along and cannot get through the first phrase without my voice cracking into a lump in my throat. The song punches you with two meanings at once, both connected. The literal road in the battle scene and the road that humanity's on. So good.

And this song isn't just about war. It's about basic respect for our fellow human beings (which is at the core of disagreements/greed at any expense/war). Respect is sorely missing today. It's given way to social media insults and threats, narcissism, cell phones over human contact, lack of empathy for others. If people would just respect one another again, put down the phones and look at each other and see the humanity in their eyes. I believe this world could still heal and change for the better. Hey Rogelio, I do not know where you live, but I want you to know that the government of the USA today in no way represents the heart and soul of the majority of the people of the USA believe me when i tell you the wars and hardships many countries and their citizens endure as a result of policies endorsed and initiated by the government of the USA are not the will of the people here, but they are the will and desire of the Federal reserve banking elite and their corporate masters and banking accomplices who are driven by false and deceptive beliefs which if continue unrestricted will eventually lead to WW3 and a nuclear holocaust which no one will laud or commemorate because those that survive such a war will eventually envy the dead as their survival becomes a damnable living death!@@rogeliosolognier8862

I learned how to play this song on the harmonica in my last year of preschool. This song has always stayed with me since then.

I was recently asked to meditate in Galations 6:2 which speaks of Jesus command to love others as we love ourselves and to bear one another's burdens. The holy spirit brought this song to my memory. This song is so fitting and true. As we walk along this journey of life we have to help one another who may be in need of any kind and not expect anything in return if it's done from the 💙.

Heard this song so many times but never really got the meaning until I saw that picture. Now it all makes sense. So appreciative to those who fought and died for my freedoms. Thank you

@@christinajacob6871 Yes this photo gives this song a new meaning to the original meaning when it was written back in the 1930's, it's the slogan for Boys Town, a school for boys who were lost and neglect in society. The slogan is written on Christmas Seals under a rendering of boy carrying his little brother on his back to the school, it was a way to raise money as donations for the school buy selling the stamp seals. But this current photo has a more powerful meaning to the slogan since I've had friends who were killed and who were crippled physically and mentally in Vietnam.
