Amazing what paint can do! ;-) see • Briggs model 23 Turned out the original ignition coil was intermittant but it was popping because it was put on backwards.
Just found an old model 23 on my property, my dad has had it tarped for over 20 years and it hasn't run in at least 25-30. I'm gonna get it going! Edit: Almost a year later but I just finally got it running today, Aug 1st 2022
I found it when I went to recycle metal finding it with only a small dent in the shroud and missing the base but inside looked perfect so after straighten the shroud and getting a base- BINGO!!! Kinda sad how many like it end up crushed.
Y. Mine orig had 2wires kill wire and orig points ignition . Do u have points box on the side? If y try replace condenser swap wires to find it u have spark. Or just replace the coil with new as coil.

Seen any with 2 coil wires coming out of the block , I've run it one 1 , then changed to the 2 nd . wire ,& it ran opposite direction , any idea?
