This video helped me, thanks. I only needed 40 seconds of it in total because I was only removing the shift assembly without removing the transmission from the car. The spring pin holding the weighted shift lever onto the shaft of the shift assembly simply rusted out and broke, resulting in no way to get out of neutral to shift between gear pairs. Getrag should really be using stainless steel spring pins because they are exposed to the elements. I replaced the broken spring pin but it was a real pain in the butt to get the shift assembly back onto the transmission with all gears working. I ran out of swear words and had to try many times. It looks so easy when the transaxle is out of the car! But seeing the few clues of how things are aligned after removal of the shift assembly and during re-insertion did help.

i did the exact same as you. i had a parts trans with bad 5th gear synchro though so i used the whole shifter off of that, since the one in the car was missing the plastic bushing too. i had to use this video to see that bolt in the side was holding the shifter in the trans. Mine went back in pretty easy though. that bolt on the side is not easy to get to!

Is there anyway YOU can do a short step-by-step instructional for said procedure? CAN NOT find anything on the web that helps one out with such said procedure in particular. As for the shear pin, I totally agree. Had this exact same thing happen to me as well, and an "assistant" deemed it would be easier to remove the shift assembly, then proceeded to drop a few essentials into the shift assembly's hole... Leading to disaster due to digging around in transmission while still mounted to motor, causing sum things to get out of "whack"

Hello, good video, could you upload these videos in Spanish, cars with that type of manual gearbox were sold throughout Latin America, if you can translate these videos into Spanish I assure you that your followers in Latin America would be hundreds of thousands, already that there are many of us interested in learning from that knowledge that you are sharing through this medium, just paying attention to your videos I say goodbye, hoping to take into account my humble suggestion, greetings from Venezuela.
It is important to mention that the Opel Corsa car has been the best-selling car in America from Mexico to Patagonia Argentina, this has been the flagship car of Latin American families from the Corsa classic 1.6 and 1.4 gasoline and manual gearbox F15, it could Upload a video where you can teach us the disassembly, identification of the most common damaged parts and the assembly of said gearbox, we would greatly appreciate it, without further ado I say goodbye and I leave you greetings from me and my friends.

I hope they changed the drain plugs in these to a bolt. I have this in my 5 speed manual 2002 z24 chevy cavalier and the check plug and the drain plug will not come out! We tried every trick in the book. Fianally went in with a small hose through the plug by the vent cap in the top of the transmission to try to change the fluid. Not sure if I got out all the old fluid but I put 1.8 quarts back in. It is working for now. Poor design on the drain plugs!

@@zerogameskill9670 oh it's ATF alright, 2.6 qts as well based on the TSB from 2002. I have the highest HP/TQ GM 2.4L Twin Cam mated to this transmission and that's what I use
