If you get value later on, wasting draft picks can be compensated. Look at the Seahawks in the 2010s, or the Pats or Indy under Manning, how many 1st rounders they wasted. But they drafted well in the later rounds, so it offsets.
@@bbryant9455 Bootleg Football did a great breakdown of Purdy in an episode about the 9ers, and why their offense does well with him and because of him. He certainly has put in the work at every stop he's made, and it's nice to see his efforts pay off. The next Mr. Irrelevant is either going to be some punter out of UMass or the name of his yacht.
Lawrence is solid. Little inconsistent but still solid. Wilson was very bad. Got surrounded by so much talent only somehow still be bad. Lance had very little data. Had few opportunities but the few that he did have he showed very little promise in. Fields is probably the one that got screwed over the hardest. Had plenty of potential but was put into a situation to fail. Then his successor gets everything he should’ve got. Bruh Mac I think actually had a very similar situation as fields. He had very little talent around him after a decent rookie year. But the constant switch of coaches and lack of pass protection made him start playing scared and thus leading to his failure.
It also had Derek Carr and Bortles and Bridgewater made a conference championship and a Super Bowl. I think it’s a mid draft class. Not the best, but not the worst either.
"Fields showed significant improvement." No he didn't. He showed marginal improvement in a couple categories. His problems don't show up on the stat sheet. Like him being the screen pass king because he can't pass with anticipation or go through a full read progression, that he holds the ball forever because he can't read defenses or decipher disguised coverage.
*..Not once did you mention the oc.. that alone tells me some. Whenever y’all mention Fields struggles you have to mention getsy goof ass n the lack of talent for most of his time there..*
Justin Fields is okay. Doing well in Pittsburgh would give the boost this draft class needs. Yes, he was traded by the Bears, but Chicago wouldn't have been in position to draft Caleb Williams is David Tepper was competent enough to have a decent Panthers team. I imagine Dallas might give Trey Lance a shot...but who are we kidding. Jerry Jones always lets people overstay their welcome in Dallas and Dak Prescott isn't going anywhere lol
No, not 2009. That draft class had Stafford. I’d put 2009 with 2011, one really good qb and then everyone else. 2010 was worse. Sam Bradford was the best QB in that draft and he couldn’t stay healthy and never made the playoffs. I’d also put 2022 in there.
The whole 2021 draft class is the worst of all time! Jones is the worst draft pick ever, Zach Wilson is terrible and fields and Lance are both disasters.
In all these videos critiquing Trevor Lawrence no one ever mentions that last season everything went downhill after he got injured in that snf against the bengals, the guy could not even walk off the field after the injury and he was starting next week and for the rector the season and as expected he was trash, that why the jags traded for Mac jones, so if Trevor gets injured again he doesn’t need to be rushed back to the lineup so he can heal and not suck in the seasons homestretch
The guy rushed for a career best on his final 6 games you dope yes couldn’t walk that’s why he rushed for more yards then he ever did if he was hurt he wouldn’t have played
What QB Draft Class do you think was the WORST?
In my opinion I really think the 2021 QB Draft class is still the worst!
2019 close runner up 👀
I could argue that 2022 is the worst QB draft class
The one with Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota was pretty trash
Absolutely insane the 9ers blew that much draft capital this recently and still managed to put together arguably the best roster in the NFL.
Lynch and shanahan really lucked out on purdy, otherwise they would’ve been fired and we wouldn’t have seen the 49ers super team today

@@johnnydepp4866thank you. It's all luck. Purdy was Mr. Irrelevant but he was a damn good QB at Iowa State.
Trey Lance didn't really get a chance.

Lawrence has a career 85 qb rating awful not solid
Every team wants a mahomes clone but forget that doesn’t always correlate to the pro level

This class yet so talented but so disappointing the 2021 QB draft class was.
@@dagamerjulian1685 lot of potential for sure in the class

Absolutely not. 2007 was. At least got Lawrence out of this class. 2007 produced nobody even halfway competent.
The most disappointing yea but not the worst
@@moayegbusi9623 good way to put it 👍🏼
I would put 2021 at the #10 spot on the all-time worst NFL draft class. My Top 5 were: 1992, 2013, 2007, 1999, and 2009

@@nathanrice5636 yeah they were bad but I’d still take them all day over Jamarcus Russell & Brady Quinn
I think Lawrence and fields could turn out alright, or maybe well, and maybe jones if he found his confidence and got picked up by a qb needy team
Davis Mills is the best QB out of this draft 😂
Im already betting that the 2024 draft is going to be even worse
Ryan Leaf was also a horrible quarterback. Also additionally that one QB Matt Leinart.

Agree, because only Purdy has been relevant at all. The only thing that hides this class is because most teams didn't over reach for a qb.
