When I worked at Harley Davidson, there was an incident with a new bike owner, she was inside the building, working on the paperwork for her brand new Sportster. Her boyfriend was with her, he was chomping at the bit to ride it around the parking lot. She was the hardest woman I have ever met, she kept telling him no! At the last moment, he asked her if it was alright to load it onto the trailer and she said yes! He had maybe 100 feet to the trailer, he was weaving back and forth, in big loops, when the foot peg caught the ground and his left hand slipped off the grip and he floored the gas! I wasn’t the only one standing there watching this unfold, there were at least 5 mechanics and a few salesman watching as well! It flipped 3 times, before coming to a sliding stop at the ramp on his trailer! He had that same look on his face as you did, only difference, he had to go inside and tell his girlfriend, as she was signing for the bike! Never a dull moment at Harley Davidson!
Had similar experience in Littleton , CO In 1998. Working as a trustee for Arapahoe County sheriff's office. They had taken delivery of a brand new Kawasaki 1000 still needing police equipment installed. Lights/siren , radio Etc. A nefew or son of a Lt. In the department decided to attempt a wheelie on this 550lb machine at the Sheriff's garage one morning. Disaster Soon followed. He lost control of the bike , thrown off the back. The motorcycle then continued on , hitting a 5 " curb , bounced once , hit a small tree, Then veried off the tree through the man door to the garage and dropped! $ 800 Dollars in damage just to bike. It's OK. Live life! So many people in this world trying to control everything They will die in a hospital bed yelling about some ridiculous political debate on television and not even realize how much they missed. Peace!
You T-Boned a picked-up truck with a trike and just walked away.... If it was me, I would have ran out and bought a lottery ticket hoping my mojo was still working...
IKR. The stoic narration that was spliced into the video was leading me to believe that he crushed one or both of his legs during the inaugural run. Lucky man!
About 40 years ago I had a beautiful and wild 2005 cc VW Trike. It had all the go fast stuff, dual 48 IDA Webers etc. I had it set much lower than yours, but it would still do wheelies for as long as I could hold on. When I sold it the guy noticed the back of the engine was slightly grinded away - I explained to the guy that was the limiting factor keeping it from flipping over, best to avoid going that far.
Sorry to see this happen. However, I can remember fairly stock VWs lifting the front end popping the clutch, and they have WAY more weight up front. Live and learn.
Its a wonder he survived, after all, it was his wife's truck. He never heard the end of it. Bet he no more than pulled that trike off before he was fixing her truck.
If you had pulled it off, you had a 50/50 chance of snapping the forks coming down! Saw it happen behind Froggy's during one of the many bike weeks I worked! JustSayn!
My cousin built one in the early 70's. He still has it. I've rode it and it is fun to ride, though it does have a tendency to raise the front wheel off the ground if you open the throttle too quickly. It has wheelie bars, so it can't flip backwards. It takes some getting used to, but does corner pretty well, at rather low speed, 35mph or so. On straight roads you can open it up and it tracks nicely. He did a good job on it.
I nearly did the same driving a heavily modified 2200cc trike almost identical..the Front came down just in time to avoid crashing into a pick up. I had no idea a VW engine could put out that much power???
Bro glad your ok I was 20 had a 64 Corvair 140 turbo automatic trike. I did a wheelie at the signal light an my throttle stuck looked at the stars for what felt like a mile but a block later I realized turn the key off . Nearly shit my self 😂
It's even funnier when you say it's not funny.
😂😂😂 I know right. Zero chance that this isn’t funny. I laughed my ass off.
Nine months later, the truck had a litter of 8 three wheeled little trucks.
Very clever, well done....
😅😂👍😎
😊😊😊😊😊😊
4 of them were diesels🤣
2 were air cooled and 1 had three wheels😅

@@brianhoppersr.3671 I only know the 10% rule as it applies to harvesting. How does it apply here?
Hay! "You can't park THERE"! 😂🤣
He should have put his foot on the brake.
You manage to walk away instead of being carried away.
Yeah, I thought this vid was going to get alot darker.
Lmfao that was great 😂😂😂
Mental note - fit wheelie bars to my trike for first test ride. Thanks for the heads up!

@clairhennings8423 it's called mindfulness or awareness/ thinking.
That's my dollar...
I went to a Harley dealership once. We walked for a half hour and we were still in the clothing section. Never did see a motorcycle.
😂😂😂
No, it’s wheelie not. It’s hilarious!
You own that one, buddy.
Hold your head high, my man.
You're part of a small group of people who can claim to have done this.
Thanks for sharing. 👍
That’ll buff right out
The snow tires made it funnier 😝
...snow kidding!!!!!
Illegal front forks no front brakes, no floor pan under pedals. Did he think he was going to license it and put that death trap on the road?
Yeah, I was really anxious about his feet just dangling like that.
Maybe he just wanted to mess around on his property with it?
But yeah,he definitely needed those things you mentioned.
It's OK. Live life! So many people in this world trying to control everything

I'm not sure if any legal forks or front brakes had prevented this wheelie...

I think we better sell it... oh God, wiping tears away, too funny!
I want to hang out with this guy. The trike, what looks like a CJ under the cover, and the lifted Elco... I’m in!

Finish before riding - Amen
Now that's some funny shit
those back wheels are a really good look.
Hilarious
We all think its funny..
Classy people
It looks incredibly hard to ride. You need a foot rest so the foot just rests on the brake.
How is this Not Funny…😂🤷♂️
Yeah, I'm with the wife laughing here !
Sorry to see this happen. However, I can remember fairly stock VWs lifting the front end popping the clutch, and they have WAY more weight up front. Live and learn.
In fact. This is funny😂😂😂
One more wheel makes ALL the difference .
Now that was funny!

That trike is improperly balanced. The front end is too light.
@@nakedfreak1 Ha ha ! A NASA engineer to design a trike ? It's like asking an F1 race driver to drive a garbage truck LOL !

Because of the length they're weak in the middle? I'm guessing that's why it could happen.
@@jacktorrance2633 Yes, because of the length, but they are also not very robust-looing for the length. Longer needs stouter.
That blows!
At least you didn’t get hurt!
Poor truck
Nobody got hurt, maybe the truck just a little.
I made that mistake. Very honest mistake that can be costly. Better get wheelie bars
Oh shi_!
Not a successful test
Good you walked away
Probably need to fix that throttle.
Definitely not designed by an engineer that knew what they were doing.
Archimedes over here!
Dude,,, that was cool.. you rock. !!!
😂I can’t stop laughing 🤣
how did this not go viral
I give you lots of credit for sharing. Most people would be too embarrassed to tell anyone this ever happened
Striaght rammed a Ram.
I mean... it's kinda funny 😄
the very first thing I would do is go into the house and change my shorts!!!!!
I made one of those back in the 70s, I ended up strapping a Ford 351 head under the fuel tank to keep the front end on the ground.
that's a good idea I've been looking for a fat girl to ride on the handlebars
when a trike and a truck have special feelings for each other, they hug in a special way...
That was hilarious, the way too loud sad music over the top is absolutely perfect!
I detect the smell of alcohol. No? Okay I detect this. No? Well I detect that. No? Well I detect something so I can make money.
Back in the 1970s a friend built a VW-3 and had to fill the fork tubes with lead to keep it down.
Good insurance will make it look like it never happened!

Shut up dude.
I love your crash helmet! 🤣
Wheelie with an open differential...= turn.
Thanks for posting the video! Glad you weren't hurt much. Wife seemed good natured about it, too.
Better advice, do your first test drive without your wife around. That way you can blame the dog if something goes wrong.
Reminds me of The Black Widows gang off of the movie Every Which Way But Loose lol
I couldn’t believe my eyes, I could not! How many weird projects are you working on? Or have bought?
Yes it was very funny.
