Lol it's almost as if he was offended!
'You think THIS is what we look like!?'
Must be the uncanny valley for crows hahaha

Nice! I loved seeing the Catbird and Robin perch on top of Stella. I can’t wait to see the Catbirds. 😁 Plus, the change of music accompanying the Crow’s spat with Stella was pretty comical and adorable. 😆🥰 Thanks for sharing! Also, love your new profile picture, BTW. ❤🤗

He looked young to me - I'm sort of guessing it was the equivalent to some teenage boy throwing a bit of a tantrum and punching a wall.

Hey there! Thanks for commenting. It's hard for me to tell how old crows are once the insides of their mouths darken to black. That said, you might be right here. At least this is a crow who isn't familiar with Stella. Maybe he's new around here.

@@thesuburbanmorrigan I was just kind of going of my experience with Magpies. His plumage still looked like it was settling in if you know what I mean.

@@Aryzo If you look at the birds chest you will notice that the feathers are different to other crows shown in the video and seem to include a mix of more downy feathers still. In Magpies that would definitely indicate a bird just entering maturity. I would expect it to be the same in Crows from what I have seen in the past but like I said I dont have a lot experience with them. As for the behaviour is it playing or aggression. Who knows because I doubt the bird sees the decoy as anything more than an inaminate object.

@@alphaomega2117 thats where i disagree with you, i dont think a raven, as smart as they are, knows wether or not its an inanimate object, he might have a clue, but he was clearly just testing whatever it is to him to see how it reacts in my opinion. I just found it odd that youd compare it to an antisocial teenager thats punching a hole in its wall to this

Do you think the prop brought in more crows? Did it provide them comfort like duck decoys or more a curiosity? I'd appreciate your insight from experience on this.
As an aside - I have a large chihuahua who is as black as any crow. I've been calling crows when we walk and leaving small piles of kibble and sparkling acrylic diamonds at a few open areas we pass through.
After the past couple of months I find a few crows sitting on my chimney or in nearby tall trees. They follow us on our walks... I kid myself that they see my dog as a chubby four legged crow :)
But they do call to us first. We call back... then at the edge of the park I keave them their gifts and snacks. I'm hoping to bring one in close before summer is done.
I could use a few smart friends LOL

I'm jealous! Crows don't call to me yet (that I know of). As for the decoy, do consider checking out the video in the description, but long story short, I got it to deter starlings -- it's quite literally a scare-crow. The manufacturer advertises it as something that could attract crows as well. Oh, and just as an aside, I believe the idea about crows loving shiny things is a myth; it's actually the opposite, from what I've heard.

@@thesuburbanmorrigan I haven't had the time to watch over the gift pile - but we do visit the same spot each day... and they are gone. It is beside the playground parking lot so maybe some tyke thinks they found that pot at the end of the rainbow :)
I've been using the Faulk's crow call and simulate a young bird. I think it is disarming

@@wayne00k Ah, I see. Interesting! I only ever use my own voice to call -- I think some crows, at least, do recognize it, especially as I repeat the same phrases when calling up to them.
