- The fix is finally in for the S&W M&P 2.0 Metal Competitor...no...not a shorter name, a better trigger. You guessed it, Apex launched their flatty for the Metal M&P and yes it's everything you didn't know your M&P needed and then some.

Picked up a competitor last week and fitted an apex gunsmith fit barrel and flat face trigger. Having a little trouble finding a spring combo that feels right. I have a 1.0 in 40 and a 40 shield with apex triggers and used the oem springs. I think the newer 10 degree striker is messing me up on the competitor. I'm getting under a 4lb pull and it's a little squishy.
This is a beautiful beautiful build ! I got my competitor last week im gonna be souping it up soon!
How do you like it so far?
So far I love it, the trigger is finally warming up lol
OMG. She is beautiful!!! I really wish Smith would just do a limited edition deal with Apex and have their triggers installed from factory.
You happen to see the new Spec Series M&P? S&W decided to use the green I’m using on mine and they say they have updated the sear, I’m guessing so that it mimics the way the Apex functions.
I installed my apex trigger that I purchased with the discount code last night and it feels excellent! My last apex trigger I took to a gunsmith but this one I decided to do on my own. I was nervous and it took me about an hour but I got it done. I can’t wait to get it to the range today to test it in live fire. I must have dry fired 100 times last night.
Awesome. It’s not super hard to do but testing it is definitely the important part. If it’s dry firing well should be good
Great review. I have Apex triggers in a couple of my handguns. I love them and trust them. But on my M&P 2.0 competitor I have a Timney Alpha trigger. I love it and trust them as well.
I like the feel of the Timney, don't get me wrong. For a range gun I would consider using it. I just feel like Apex is the best bet when it comes to a carry gun
That is a beautiful setup
I’ve got a case of ammo packed up ready to hit the range first thing tomorrow morning. Gotta love range day
MY GUY!!!!! THANK YOU!!!
Glad to help!!!
I’m about to order this today with the code!! Thanks brother!
Glad to help
Came for the Apex trigger, stayed for that M&P. It seems to look meaner with every video.
I’m going to try something original next year: I’ll get an Apex trigger, then shop for a gun to install it in. Don’t judge me lol
Or...you could get the Apex for your FN lol
@@360TacticalSolutions hard pass on that lol
Curious how is your competitor green . Is there away to change the coating with after market company’s ??
I covered that in my review but im glad to give you the info. S&W used cerakote for the finish on these guns. They used H-237 Tungsten on it...thats the color code. The H series is ok but not as strong as the cerakote E series. I changed it over to E-210 Moss. That E series is the strongest most durable thing Cerakote makes but the colors aren't as wild and metallic as the H series. Anyways ive been doing my own Cerakote work for around 5 or 6 years now so I did this gun myself. Wherever you are im sure there is a certified cerakote applicator close by but if you want my opinion or advice...look into sending your gun into Branson Cerakote and Laser. They are a licensed FFl, certified by Cerakote for applying the coating and in my opinion not only do they do the best work but their customer service is unparalleled. Because its a "gunsmithing service" in the eyes of the ATF and they do hold an FFL, you should be able to ship it directly to them and when its done they can ship directly back to you. If you are interested reach out to them and they can walk you through it all. They also have a CZcams channel if you want to go check them out
i prefer the timney trigger on my m&p. best avaialable in my opinion
Id love to hear your opinion as to why they are the best available. Ive tried Timney and they are $10 less than the Apex while having less in the packaging. There is no forward set sear actuator so the Timney isnt removing take up like the Apex does. Some people like take up so I guess thats fine for some people. There’s also no springs included with the Timney so you cant dial in your trigger weight for your intended use or experience level. No striker spring but again if you arent looking to change trigger weight thats fine but I dont see how they arrive at the price they charge.
Another thing is that the metal M&P requires some slight changes in geometry in the trigger for function and safety. I find it a little concerning that Timney just sells the standard M&P trigger for both the polymer 2.0 and the metal 2.0 without any change to the design or included parts. Apex actually added a sear plunger to the metal M&P trigger to improve reliability over stock. There’s just so much different between the two triggers. I dont think the Timney triggers are bad triggers but for what you get in the package as well as improvements in performance I cant find a single logical justification for spending $170 on a Timney when I can get an Apex for $180
@@360TacticalSolutionsi love the hinge design over the safety tab in the middle of the trigger. hinge designs are my favorite as they are easy to rip on really fast. lots of competitors prefer a hinge trigger. i got a safety plunger and spring in my package. you are correct, the timney still has alot of take-up, but the break is waaaay more predictable, crisp and breaks like a lays salt & vinegar potato chip. the takeup is almost weightless, it just swings so soft and freely. if apex made a hinged design, id probably buy it over the timney because i know apex is all about triggers. just wondering why they arent in the a.r. market
I’ve waiting on someone to make a video about the apex metal trigger! They are 180 so that’s kind steep for me but I’ve got to have one.
I agree $180 is a bit of money. Well worth it, especially with the discount. My first Apex trigger I went back and fourth about it for almost a year before finally spending the money. Once you get one though you start to wonder what made you wait so long
@@360TacticalSolutions you’re exactly right. I had one in my polymer m and p. It was definitely a much needed upgraded for that version of the 2.0. I bought the polymer trigger which was cheaper than the aluminum by about 80 bucks.
@@Shooterready901 oh I 100% recommend the polymer trigger. Most people won’t be able to work it enough to wear it out and justify the extra cost of the aluminum one. I don’t think they have a polymer trigger for the metal M&P yet though
What about the apex barrels for the M&P pistols? Are those worth upgrading on a M&P?
I have one for this gun actually. I also have a threaded Apex for my Hellcat Pro. Apex makes incredible products and they are meticulous about making sure something is perfect before it hits the market. With their barrels, if you need a threaded barrel you won’t find a better one than Apex. If you just want to swap out for a better performing barrel, say on this 5” or even the 4” M&P like you want more accuracy and cleaner groups…that’s complicated to be honest. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say probably 80-90% of people can’t and won’t out shoot their stock barrels in any firearm. Most people just don’t need to spend money on a barrel upgrade and the people that do want some spiral fluted, multi color job mostly for the clout and the IG pictures. The vast majority of us will be lying to our self when we do a barrel swap and say we can notice a difference. You really need to put thousands of rounds down range almost competitively every year in order to justify the upgrade, and that’s coming from a guy who loves Apex products but I’m honest so I won’t jerk you around about it either
@360TacticalSolutions Good morning. Ok. I understand where your coming from. Thank you for that information. I will stay with the stock barrel. After 4,000 rounds thru my Smith&Wesson M&P9 2.0 4.25 metal pistol I'm doing really good. At 21 feet on a 12 by 18 inch target, I can blow out the 3inch bullseye that are on it stack shots on top of shots. I was more looking on tighten up my groups after 21 feet. That's why I figured I ask you on the their barrel for the M&P 4.25. i've watch their videos on before and after on shot placement at 25 yards. Stock barrel had 2 inch groups and their apex barrel had 1 inch groups at 25 yards if I remember correctly. It wasn't a bad price ether. 200$ for the gunsmith apex barrel. If I where to buy it. I'd get that one
@@jamesdelong6401 that's the thing though if you are really training hard and your end goal is working on consistent and tight groups then a barrel upgrade could make sense. Im just saying that the vast majority of people just hit the range and go plinking here and there and they won't see any difference in barrels. It sounds like you are really running your guns and you have a specific goal in mind and are willing to put in the work to reach it. You could very well see those 1" groups very quickly on an apex barrel and if you use my 360TS discount code you can cut that price down 10%.
@360TacticalSolutions ok. Then I will look into adding that apex gunsmith barrel to my 2.0 4.25 metal pistol. Thank you for sharing your code. Every little of a discount help. Yes, sir. I train my ass off. Since last December I have a total of 7,000 rounds of 9mm, .380acp, 45acp, . I just don't buy a pistol and put it up. I live fire train, I dry fire train, I practice my draw training appendix and strong with mag changing. Now I'm adding long distance rifle training into my pistol training. Before I start with my M1A socom 16, I've been practicing with my 22lr. So far at 130 yards I'm holding 1/2 to 1 inch groups at that distance. I think I have around 500 round of 22lr ammo in the past month of starting my rifle training. It's fun and I love the challenge. Looking for to getting my M1A out to the range. My goal is to hit that 1,000 yard mark.
did you cerakote that??
Yes. I used E-210 Moss. Posted pictures all over IG and tagged S&W so people could see the guns potential. Now S&W is making a copy of my gun with the new Spec Ops Metal M&P
HEll yea it looks AWESOME!!!
