- That actor Scott Wilson, who played Hershal Greene in the show, sadly passed away during filming? Herschel Greene was a father figure for Rick Grimes, played by Andrew Lincoln, in the popular zombie television show, but actor Scott Wilson who plays the character in the show was diagnosed with terminal leukemia in 2018. Despite his illness, the actor returned after his diagnosis to film his scenes for Lincoln’s final episode but kept his illness secret from the cast and crew of the show. Wilson featured in a hallucination scene in Lincoln’s final episode and after news spread of the actor’s death, it made the scene all the more poignant. His fellow cast members remembered Wilson as very similar to his character in the show - someone who was gentle and kind.

Man,Wilson was a legend for coming back for that scene
But he didn’t come back, whoever is making this lied because he died in 2018
@@rhiannonlewis7963 he literally returned in Lincolns finale ep before his death💀
@@Bruh24748 No, he didn’t. He died in 2018 babe.
@@Bruh24748 Scott died in Oct, the Episode where Andrew “died” was November. So unless he rose from the dead; he didn’t.
@@rhiannonlewis7963 they aired it on November but they needed to film it first so Scott was alive when they filmed it which was before November (I hope it made sense)
Watching that scene knowing Scott Wilson was dead irl too made it feel a lot more real
@@TheCursedCat1927 wow I thought he was dead when they filmed it too and that it was a stuffed Scott Wilson
@@TheCursedCat1927 are you serious? Correcting people in n something this obvious? Of course he was alive during filming and by the episode came out, he died. Are you that dumb to think we didn’t understand?
@@TheCursedCat1927 no shit we was alive when they filmed it how else would he have been able to do the scene
@@TheCursedCat1927 How would have AMC been able to make Scott CGI when they're budget is so low that they weren't able to animate a deer which obviously didn't looked realistic at all
Felt weird for sure
Man Hershel was a big impact on everyone in the group and helping them farm was big. His death was a sad episode for me
I was more sad that it wasn’t a clean quick death, he felt that no doubt
I met the guy who played the Governor at NYC comicon and told him he should have had a lucky kill Hershel. I like the actor but was happy when the Governor was killed.
Honestly even after how long ago it was I think his deaths is one of the most memorable and impactful in the show.
I was pissed off when Hershel died. At least Michonne put him out of his misery and the Governor died
No more spaghetti Tuesday's 😭 Hershal always knew it was important to give the people hope. Even if that hope is looking forward to spaghetti in the apocalypse
No. We continue with spaghetti Tuesdays. Hershel Green and Scott Wilson deserve such things.
Negan will make the spaghetti now😢
Truly one of the most selfless person in the series
He would've gotten along well with Negan. Even Negan would've respected Hershel in seasons 7, 8. Negan be cooking them Spaghetti on Tuesdays.
I grew up on the walking dead and my fondest moments from the show is when they showed up to Hershel’s farm in season 2. Wilson was one of my favorite actor and characters on the show and finding out he passed broke me. I was always love and remember Scott Wilson for his time in the walking dead and the over 50 other movies and shows he was on. I just wish i could have meet the man😢
I met him 5 months before he died. You would never have known he was sick. He was at a Walker Stalker Con in Nashville, still doing what he loved.
My father took me to a convention 8 years ago and he spent a good 15 minutes just talking to us about TWD / older movies that my father knew of him from, took pictures with us and everything for free. He’ll always be one of my favorite actors for that.
I was lucky enough to meet Scott at Walker Stalker Con in Chicago. We had a FULL conversation about the current events in Wisconsin at the time. And he signed my poster to me personally and told me he wasn’t going to let me pay the rediculous prices for it. That it was on him. RIP SCOTT. We love and miss you.
Rest in peace. You will be missed and always have a soft place in our hearts. Your amazing ❤️
I met Mr.Wilson at a Comiccon in 2016, such a sweet man
Rest In Peace Scott Wilson.
my family and i got to meet him during a comicon in 2014. such a genuine and lovely human. he is missed dearly
Thank you for giving me another reminder of the man's death as if I hadn't already cried enough tears because of him
Gosh I cried when I saw him in the flashback ❤
Yeah, I gotta admit, I was really close too
Andrew knew. “I’m so sorry for what happened to you”
That moment when he was killed by the stupid governor "liar" was seriously the most heart wrenching moment for me in the entire show, Glenn's death following close after. Then Beth and Carl. All of those deaths fucked me up irl too I swear lmao
RIP 😢
May he rest in peace.
Rest In Peace. He is a legend especially for working hard for what he loved dispite being ill
Hershel was one of the best characters in early TWD. His death was probably the saddest behind Glenn just because of how impactful his presence was
I met him walking through comic con years ago. He was nice enough to take a picture with me. Great person.
Man. I have so much respect for that man. That scene is way more, special and difficult. I am sorry for what we lost. That's all I got.
People who love Hershel
Edit: 1k likes? Holy

RIP Scott Wilson one of my favorite actors OAT 💔
That scene will always get me knowing he passed away, what a wonderful person
Hershel really was their best character ;-;
Did u forget about Daryl and Rick.. literally the best characters in the show- (along with Abraham and Glen.)
I'm glad he got to finish his character before he passed away. rest in peace
This gives me the same feeling as the story behind "leaves from the vine"
RIP a legend was lost
Hershel is among the best characters in the show, always loved him
RIP Scott Wilson
I had the honor of meeting Scott Wilson in Nashville at the Walker Stalker Con in May of 2018. He passed away 5 months later. He was as nice as his character, Hershel Greene. Fun fact that shows how nice he was, he still had his ponytail up to two weeks before his death. He cut it off, sold it (Norman Reedus bought it) and gave the money to cancer research.
Rip! Hershel was just one of the most impactful characters on twd
Rip Scott Wilson fly high 😢
Hershel died with a smile on his Face and I think so did Wilson.
They both had outstanding personalitys and were respected by everyone they met.
He was a father figure for all of us fans !
RIP Mr Wilson !
Fun fact my nana was good friends with Scott and his family. He would sometimes come over to her house. He was a really nice person.
Rest in Peace Scott Wilson, we miss and love you. He was a legend, and Hershel was one of my favourite characters on TWD.
Hershel was literally one of my favorite characters in the whole show
R.I.P Scott Wilson. He was a good actor. Check out his old movies.
After I watched that scene, my mum told me that Scott had died from cancer and I just balled my eyes out.
I had totally forgot that he sadly passed away. Almost forget how walking dead has been airing over a decade. R.I.P.
He was one of my favorite characters..😔😔
That scene was emotional
Mr. Wilson will be remembered Rest in peace 😔.
Scott will be remembered by all of us
I know. I loved Hershel. Scott will always be a legend
"Hershal was like a father figure for rick
Rick's actual father:☹️
Hershel Greene, the man with unlimited ammo.
That’s why he fit the role so perfect. Because the personality was genuine.
Rest in paradise. I'm still mad about his death in the show
Omg that makes his character all the more meaningful 🥺 wow rip Wilson ❤️
R.I.P. Scott Wilson
May God bless everyone. ❤
He brought everything to that role. Hershel in the comics is kinda a nightmare and I have no doubt Scott Wilson’s good nature is what molded the character into such a different and better form.
“Wilson died this afternoon while on set”
“Wait, why is the body moving”
Hershel blowing away walkers in the farm finale was my favorite scene of him. He went from an awful character to an awesome character after the farm. RIP
It sucks for people like that. Chadwick boseman had cancer and still decided to play black panther. R.i.p all of these legends.
literally everyone who stayed up to date with the walking dead knew this.
That episode came really close to making me cry
Saying he passed away during filming makes it sound like he was still on the show at the time he passed. He wasn't
Damnnnn i hope his in a beautiful land as shown in the walking dead
One of my favorite episodes was during the outbreak in the prison and Herschel was the facility medic. “Beside the dying fire” was another one of my favorite episodes. Herschel showed he was bada$$ when he tried to defend his farm.
forgot about this and it was super sad seemed like a good person and a great actor
That makes it 100x more emotional i love this episode
Nah him being in Rick's hallucinations is actually just depressing
Rip
Rest in peace. Wilson (Hershel Greene).
Two of my favorite Scott Wilson movies is the Shilo movies when he played Judd Travis
I cried so badly when the governor hacked Hershel to death with the katana. 😭
Loved Hershel! Like he was the granddad i wanted in my life 🥹
Rest In Peace legend
Will always respect him for giving us Maggy ❤
Emily Kinney (Beth) wrote a song about his death called “I Went Looking For You”
I declare that we have spaghetti tuesday
Every wendesday
But first we gotts find some spaghetti
i love his character and i love him as an actor
Wow...I didn't know that. That makes it all the more geartbreakibg and devastating to watch.
Thats sad I didn't know he passed away, he was a good actor
this made me cry
He died in 2018, I don’t know why you guys are acting like you never knew this information when this was all over the news
Scott was also able to see his final scene with Rick
I miss him😔
He left the show in season 3(2012) because there were disagreements with the writing and between directors etc. And a few other people left because of this as well. He didn't leave because he was sick
hershel’s death had me sobbing. absolute tragedy to see
I just learned about this show a month ago. I just saw the episode where he died. Didn’t know he died irl. 🥺💛
Bro that's so hard to record and act knowing that
That makes me so sad I love Hershel i wastched the show because I remember seeing him in the show as a kid
The story I heard from Norman and Jon is that he was a badass
Scott Wilson also played Scott Crossfield in The Right Stuff..
He also stares at Shane for ages
Anyone else rewatched walling dead n cry evertime they see Scott.
We miss you Scott ❤️
I seriously blubber every time I watch it, it was beautiful and heartbreaking
I love how Hershel is more likable in the TV series than in the comic series.
I met him and he was very kind
You could see he looked much more fragile in that last scene than he did in the last scene outside the prison.
What A Legend.
Rip hershel we love you
Thats sad he probably knew he was going to pass soon so he put his soul into the scene
RIP 😥
Gentle and kind and had infinite ammo cheats
WE KNOW WE DONT NEED A REMINDER 😭
This was my favorite character i was so sad when he died
Scott was my great uncle on my mom's side. I met him once when I was 7, I was in court for being molested by my own cousin. He took me out to dinner and bought me a suit fir court. I never seen him again until TWD.
Hershal was my favorite character in the walking dead and I was like I don't want hershal to die then the governor killed him and I just felt rage and was so upset he died and now I know this and it makes it so much worse 💔
