My baby went to daycare full time at 4 months because I had to go back to work. One of the best decisions for me was to start him at daycare a week before I went back to work (for all 5 days). That way I could get out all of the tears and get more used to a daycare routine before adding in the stress of returning to work. Getting back into the groove at work was hard enough, and I'm SO grateful that I was past that first daycare week by then!
My boy just turned a year old yesterday and we are still going strong at daycare - he is absolutely thriving there and I'm so proud of what he has learned! For any mama in the thick of the tears from dropping off your baby - HANG IN THERE. Like Olivia said, it gets better. You've got this! You are stronger than you realize 💪

My baby is 1 month old and I’m already crying at the thought of dropping her off when she becomes 3. I plan on starting a week early as well to get used to it. It’s all so scary

    • @cherryblossoms32

@@kroline8 I wish I could hug you! It's so hard, and it's ok to feel sad and cry A LOT. It's ok to feel like you're not yourself at work. It took at least 6 months back to feel more normal, and a year to feel like I had found my groove. Snuggle the hell out of that baby when you get home from work. Say no to commitments and give yourself space to process the transition. If people look down on you at work for not performing the same way you used to - ignore them. You're a mama first, and any good employer will recognize that (I am a supervisor and I encourage all of my employees that family always comes first!). Hang in there ❤️

My baby just turned 4 months and I did the same thing. He started this week (my last week of maternity leave) and he came home yesterday with a hoarse voice. I cried all night. I'm hoping he adjusts soon :(

We looked at care too and what we found odd was someone would put their rate ($15/hr) but later would tell us they actually charge more. So we did daycare early on. It was hard at first since he got alllll the cooties during winter. I actually found a site where you can go and pull up copies of inspections done at the daycare. One of the daycares that had such a good reputation and on a huge waitlist had awful violations. That’s one way I searched for the best place. I got cute bottle labels off amazon for cheap. Also bought a bunch of cheap onesies and shorts to leave as extra. I felt very guilty leaving him there at first but once I realized he enjoyed it and honestly, it was healthy for me too. Some days I’ll just leave him for a few hours to go to the gym or sit at a coffee shop for alone time. It’s been a blessing. I’ve been following you since you were pregnant and I am 6 months behind you!

May you please let us know the side where you found the inspection reports? My baby will go to day care soon and I need to be completely comfortable with the site we picked.

I had to come back to this video and watch it, thank you for making this Olivia. My sons 19 months and I’m working at his daycare and his first day was so rough. He threw up from crying so hard, I had to go in the bathroom and cry because it was so hard to hear him cry all day. He had good moments but he was scared and it was awful I was balling the whole night. I’m really really trusting that it’s going to get better.

Olivia! Thank you for the content. Do you have any videos that talk about your though/decision making process for SAHM vs nanny vs daycare? I was curious if you’ve debated each of these and how you’ve coped with him now being at daycare so you can work. I can constantly torn between all of these :/

My son is 8 months old and I've been talking about putting him in daycare soon part time. I already feel tears welling up even mentioning it, but I work from home full-time and take care of him and it's just getting to be too hard. I just don't know if I'll be able to do it. I'm glad I watched your video so I can try to remember this and be confident.

  • @karsynklaire

Thank you so much for this video and for always sharing. My son is now 8 months old and I'm still on maternity leave until just before he turns 1, but will be in the same boat with daycare. I'm a single mommy so daycare is really the only option for us when the time gets here. Most of the daycares in my city typically only take toddlers from 18 months and up, so my son is currently on waiting lists at all of the ones that take babies. I'm already having a lot of anxiety about having to leave him and I know that it's going to be super difficult. Thank you for being so honest about that. The day I saw you crying on Instagram was so very real and broke my heart for you and Christian as well as let me know what I'll be in for come October. As mommies we do the best we can and that's all we can do. I love your channel, thank you. 💙

Same here, probably she is from Canada or Europe. I am afraid to start looking for a daycare because I know I will freak out of leaving the baby, but if I do not do it now I won’t be able to find one that takes babies under 18 months.

Thank you so much for discussing childcare. This is something I was so lost and confused about, did you have to get on a waiting list to get in the daycare? Did you have to interview and get a tour to decide if you liked it? How much are you paying per week or month for the daycare? How much are you saving by not using a nanny? Thank you and God bless

Hi Olivia, thank you for doing this video, it was super helpful! I love all of your videos by the way and look forward to your uploads weekly :) I did have some questions, if you don’t mind. How did you check up on Christian during the daytime? Did your daycare provide video, pics etc of him and send it to you every so often or did you call and how often did you call them? Also, the first few days when you dropped him off, how long did you remain there before you took off? Him crying and screaming would make it hard to leave! Thanks again for taking the time to answer our questions and post videos! 💛

My sisters and I work at a daycare my third sister yougest daughter goes there and my fourth sister baby goes there . My Niece had been going to the daycare since she was a newborn . So she likes it ok my nephew he just turned one . He started at the daycare when he was six months . It took him 2 months to get use to it . He is finally getting use to being there . He only cry's when he sees his mom and I . He loves his teacher so that's good I try not to go into the baby room to much . Because when he sees or hears me he cry's . When he is asleep I have to tip toe and be quiet when i go in . If I make any noise he awakes up and won't go back to sleep . So it is hard to work there with my Nephew . I am like his favorite Aunt
