    This was pure gold. Because reading that book can be a pain in the ass honestly. Especiallly if you´re just looking for something real quick. The writer should´ve devided pure rules and the fluff more visually so you are able to find what you are looking for much easier.

    Thanks a lot. I'm getting back into rpg and into Kult. I played it in '90's and I find this newest edition very nice. This is my first contact with moves so this video is quite helpful (together with Black Madonna on RMRPG - great job, sometimes maybe seems a little too railroady😊). Thanks and see you somewhere beyond the illusion...😉

    • @leslieshafer6343
      @leslieshafer6343 Před 4 lety +1

      @Kanal Termosa - When the Black Madonna was written the "Railroad" approach was the in-thing, actually it was the only thing because the Sandbox approach hadn't really been considered yet (at least not for campaigns). The Railroad approach allows for things like a dramatic build up in the story. But then just as now as a GM you had to expect the unexpected when it came to what your players had their characters do. So it's seems like (at least to me) that the scenario could be run in a bit more of a freeform fashion. Red Moon Roleplaying did an AWESOME job with their playthrough of The Black Madonna.

    The campiness of this video is really fun. My girlfriend's looking to run her first RPG session sometime soon to give me a chance to actually play a game for once (been stuck as the DM for my D&D group since middle school and I'm beyond college age at this point, LOL), and she knew she wanted something that ran on the Powered By The Apocalypse system. While flipping through a few options, I ran across this one and thought it sounded perfect. We're really excited to actually play it soon!

    Question, for bit on when the Greed disadvantage was used, would the GM require Max to make a check or is there a bit of an honor system where Max’s player would need to remember/want to use it?

    • @Hj4a
      @Hj4a Před 2 lety +1

      Depends on the group, I would say. Personally, as a player, I will occasionally suggest to a GM that it's a good time to roll my disadvantage. They drive the story forwards and just helps making the story!

    I was thinking of starting with sleeper, no dark secret no disadvantages or advantages, to start, then after the intro scenario, have the players choose the dark secret, so it starts with vague dreams, which lead to disadvantages & advantages which are introduced one by one as you play the sessions, so it gives a narrative flow, to the character development, or descent.

    I have a dilemma and a couple of silly questions ;). If someone could help me out I would really appreciate it. I dig the setting, I have been looking for a silent hillesque rpg for a long time. I have done the research but I still want to ask...So kult is more of a story driven rpg right? It is still possible to play with minis and terrain? Would solo play using a GM emulator such a Mythic be feasible? I am on the verge of purchasing it but can't make up my mind ;)) cheers

    • @-Markus-
      @-Markus- Před 3 lety +1

      Its a quick and easy system, both to learn and play!
      But one thing to note is that it requires much more attention and judgement from the GM than many other systems. The "skills" and "moves" are diffuse and often encourage a form of "success at a cost" situations where the GM puts the player at a difficult choice etc.
      Of course the GM can always simply judge the rolls as failure or success but the system is not designed for that kind of absolute resolution.

    I'm a little bit confused with the "engage combat" rules, now the "Harm" value is just a bonus to the value thrown or does the opponent get as many "wounds" as the "harm" value?
    Can anyone help me to understand this please? :)
    Thanks

    • @Helmgast
      @Helmgast  Před 3 lety +1

      Engage in combat (the Violence roll) isn't modified by Harm. Harm is a negative modification to the Endure Injury (fortitude) roll. If a pistol does 2 Harm, for example, the roll for Fortitude is modified by the same amount negatively (-2). This is for the player characters.
      When it comes to non-player characters the Harm is equal to the damage taken. But remember that a non-player character could also have armor or natural protection that lowers the harm value against them. The Violence roll against an NPC shows if the PC inflicts full Harm, half Harm or no Harm against an NPC.
      We hope that helps!
