    When I worked at FLETC Artesia it was called Mixed Basic, BIA really does their own thing and remember once when a new BIA class was coming in, had to send 2 recruits out to the range to get weighed in on the brass scales.

    Also those in California who are 0083, y’all need PC832 training, state of California POST course, before you assimilate state code. Also that training course would enable 0083 in California to be considered “peace officers” according to state law.

    As someone who spent 25 years as a State Police Trooper and attended FLETC UPTP after my retirement (working on my second gov't retirement check.....lol), I agree with most of your assessments about FLETC. I went through FLETC UPTP in my mid 50's and had no issues at all with the PT or academics. I work for the Dept of Navy Police (GS-0083) and we have no supplemental academy training after FLETC. Since all the UPTP instructors are mostly retired LEO's, I had no issues with them as they tend to cut a little slack to fellow LEO retirees. I went to FLETC Artesia which was fairly tolerable considering the 2020 pandemic.

    The Department of Army Civilian Police and Marine Corps goes to Ft Leonard Wood for their academy. It's 10 weeks for the Army and I believe 15 weeks for the Marines. You will only fail if you don't have good study habits for Law week and dont qualify at the range. You do get some chances to retake. Other than that, the goal is to pass everyone like the gentleman was saying in the video. The VA Academy was accurate but way more academic too. I went through both of these academies. It's a basic academy but you learn more in the field.

    A couple of things from this video. I went through UPTP and graduated March of 2021. 1.) Not everyone that is sent through UPTP passes any "PT test" to go to FLETC. My agency didn't require me to pass a PT test. 2.) Some agencies will require you to pass the PEB at what ever percentage. No FLETC itself does not require you to pass the their PT test (the PEB). My agency just require me to participate. The PT in UPTP is not that hard, you just have to show a effort. 3.) UPTP is not, I repeat, not paramilitary. The only thing you do is call people sir that is it. Some agencies in UPTP requires their employees to march everywhere, that is on them and not a requirement. 4.) not every agency have agency add on's (more training required after UPTP). My agency doesn't have a agency add on. I graduated from FLETC and went into the FTO program by at my place of employment.

      FPS only hires veterans, usually with a campaign metal, and if you have a 30% or more military disability rating you get additional points. hiring is a long process, but you can be placed anywhere in the U.S. Numbers right now are actually low but they have some key areas that, if you volunteer, they will pick you up faster. academy is at FLETC, GA for a durations at 6 months (3 basic police academy, 3 additonal training). Once you get to your duty station you do 3 months of field training. As an FPS inspector you wear many hats. You are a Police officer, yet you also do a lot of physical security work (knowing all security aspects of federal buildings and countermeasures.) this all depends on what state/ area you get assigned to and what Mutual aid agreement you have with your local/state police departments.

      The academies are all different. The same academy experience might be different or the net class because they swap the instructors sometimes. The academy for customs if more relaxed than something like border patrol because of the duties you will be responsible for in the end. Border patrol you encounter strangers out and about kind of like working as a Police Officer. At the ports of entry, everyone is on their best behavior because they want ro be let in to the states so customs tends to be more relaxed. But I would say to stay with the capital police because it would be less taxing on the body. I work along side cbp as a security contractor and I see how miserable they are at cbp. Most officers work 16 hour shifts and are rotating every hour from post to post on the port as pat of the anti corruption initiative. Most of the customs officers I met work 6 days a week and very long hours. Most of the posts require tou to stand. The only times you sit is when you are operating the computers on the primary or secondary inspection line for pedestrian visitors. If it's automobile you will stand all day in pre primary, primary and secondary. You will stand at the x ray machine, if you are k9 you will constantly be walking the "In" traffic line. And real quick, don't disclose dates or locations about your academy. OPSEC is huge, especially right now when law enforcement has a huge target painted on it back. Don't give a nut job the ecuse to make sure you don't make it there. Stay safe and good luck.

      They usually don't disclose that information unless you are an actual candidate. If you find a position on USAjobs, it will give you the basic run down. But if you javelin ever been an MP in the military in any branch, it is similar to that. Remember, all federal police agencies can only enforce federal laws not local. If you want to do cop things you should join a local police department where you can enforce local, state and federal laws. The pay is less, retirement is bot as great but you will be a cop doing cop things. There is a difference between the cops and the police. It generally means the same thing but the fbi can be the "police", so can CBP, DEA, etc. But only local law enforcement can be cops. Cops are the ones who show up when you call 911. The police is anyone who enforces any kind of law.

      Most federal uniform police agencies go through UPTP (Uniform Police Training Program i.e. NSA Police, CIA Police Capital Police). While people working for the National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management and US Forest Service all go through (Land Management Police Training Program which is like 4 weeks longer then said program about). • @enriquefuentes7697
      @enriquefuentes7697 Před 2 lety

      For all the smaller federal "police" agencies the basic training is the same. Think of it like the military, you all graduate boot camp but then all go your own seperate ways to learn your specialty. All the federal police agencies will send you to their desired location for police training. Once you graduate that, you go to their specific location for indepth specialty training. Once that is done you get sent to your post and they put you on probation where you complete on the job training.
