  • This film is intended to counter the misinformation presented in the U.S. mass media
    Sources are cited at www.iranisnottheproblem.com
IRAN (is not the problem) is a feature length film responding to the failure of the American mass media to provide the public with relevant and accurate information about the standoff between the US and Iran, as happened before with the lead up to the invasion of Iraq.

We have heard that Iran is a nuclear menace in defiance of the international community, bent on "wiping Israel off the map", supporting terrorism, and unwilling to negotiate. This documentary disputes these claims as they are presented to us and puts them in the context of present and historical US imperialism and hypocrisy with respect to Iran.

It looks at the struggle for democracy inside Iran, the consequences of the current escalation and the potential US and/or Israeli attack, and suggests some alternatives to consider.

This 79 minute documentary features Antonia Juhasz (The Bu$h Agenda), Larry Everest (Oil, Power, and Empire), and other activists and Iranian-Americans. The DVD also contains a 20 minute preview version ideal for meetings. The goal of this movie is to promote dialog and change the debate on Iran, so please consider organizing a screening, big or small, in your area.

Produced by Aaron Newman, an independent film-maker and part of the Scary Cow film co-op in San Francisco. He is an anti-imperialism/pro-democracy activist, founder of the SF Chomsky Book Club, and a member of Hands Off Iran

There are differences of opinion between many of the voices in this film, but all agree that a war would be unjustified. Below are brief video introductions for each of the people who participated.

I am an Iranian and I admire the american people at such times. We Iranians are courageous people, but what you Americans are is that you are more courageous in admitting your past mistakes. Something we need to learn from you guys.

Iranian itself are tired of an old system just like an ordinary American. People today need some changes because of a growing economy crisis. This is the time that people around the world must think and share the good solution to solve the global problems. War,hatred are slowly vanished from the face of the earth. There are still left or right wing but the ordinary people are beginning to use their common sense. Love and peace for all !!

If its one thing I've learned in all my years of traveling the world. (Yea I am pretty young and well traveled from childhood into my early adulthood which is now). IS that everyone is suffering, and that everyone is dealing with quite similar problems. The world is fucked up, and it seems to be no solution but there is a solution, but it must come from all of us, and not the few that we elect or deem themselves the elected.

There was a misinterpretation at the start of this documentary. That guy, don't know his name, he was right in saying that Ahmedinejad is not in charge but wrongly again accused the President for saying "crazy things like wiping Israel off the map." Second in power or not, the President never said that. He said that the tyrannical Zionist regime should come to an end. Long live the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the great Ayatullah Khamenei, and the best president in the world, Ahmedi!

@istt Like in Thailand they are doing the same thing the Iranians did and we are saying nothing. Or the fact that Israel has 200 nukes but we say the Iranians can't have one.

Secondly, I ask you if you have even watched these videos to which you do not even give answer and just rally accusation of racism? Are you serious?
Did I mention the global agenda of Israel or the USA? Are you really even reading what I am typing or are you that close minded that you are unable to see the questions I have asked you?

@hlimkb yes ayatollah is the top gun.. but in the U.S the president holds the same power as the president in Iran, he's just there to uphold the constitution , the real leaders of U.S policy is not shown to the public, and thats why we have a guessing game as to who really calls the shots in the U.S

I dont think you are clear about that part of Iran's history, as this documentary is not neither. Shah signed the oil nationalization law, and the oil remained nationalized. After that the oil price just went up by creation of opec. And Mosadeq was not really a muslim, he was a communist! and the story is not about muslims, but pulitics.

You speak of terrorists and terrorism from Iran. Define that term please. There are some indications that they might be providing support to groups that undertake terrorism, however on the other hand many of these groups have legitimate political grievances in terms of the situation in the middle east or in Israel itself with the people being deprived of their rights and property.

    Thirdly, the CIA ...
"We" are eager to know? Who is this "we"?
Read some history if you wish to know what I know regarding our governments involvement in operations. I never even bothered to mention the CIA's agenda so please stop putting words in my mouth.
Also the vast knowledge comment, if you wish to turn this into an ad hominem / paradigm shift, please have the honesty to admit such.

Actually yes. The supreme leader of Iran did denounce it. Do you even know how it works there? The president's office is not like the usa. He does not run things there, it is the supreme leader that does.
Ayatollah Khamenei says that Iran is willing to back the Saudi peace plan in the middle east. Do you know what that means? It is a plan to normalize relations with Israel if they are willing to withdraw from occupied territory in the west bank.
You are the one that believes propaganda.

Firstly, asking your race did have a non racist point. You speak like a jew sympathizer. How many posts do you have on this thread? Over 98% of them speak of Israel and you defending it. Only a jew, a zionist or a zionist sympathizer would do such thing, hence the question.
Furthermore you speak out of complete ignorance. There is nothing racist about anything I said. The argument you propose is fallacious to begin because todays jews are khazars, and hardly the biblical semites.
