  • Holding your pace in a marathon isn't as simple as training and fitness...hydration and fueling come swining in. Even if you had the most perfect training in the world but don't hydrate or fuel properly...it will come crashing down. Practicing my fueling. Not fearing to slow down to fuel, has gotten me to the podium of many races and also had me outlast stronger athletes because I took that 3-5 seconds to hydrate properly through those later miles. Do not fear a proper speed walk to regroup, drink, eat and get back on pace. It is an overlooked strategy that can keep you on pace, running faster without really running faster.
