Best line ever: "Get off me!" cause it immediately shows a direct understood connection between persona and the summoner.
He understands already that the floating knight is a part of him just as much as his regular flesh and blood body is.

Think of it this way, when the shadows hit izanagi, it looked like Yu felt pain didn't it? Think of it as if he feels what izanagi would, so as lumberluc said, what izanagi's doing would be exhausting Yu at the same time as him doing it

Its described by the creator as "Being a "key" moment of "opening something that was closed." I guess his shirt in a sense acts as his mind being closed to his powers and the world around him and as he awakens, his mind begins to "open" itself up to new possibilities.
Yu got his revenge in the Golden version of this scene. Holy shit he was smirking the whole time.

It's the same for every Persona user. It is their "other self", after all.
But izanagi used to be voiced by dave wittenburg, kakashis english va and he was so cool but jonny young bosch does that line pretty well too

I like how in this one, Yu is learning how to use Izanagi and got a shadow to land a hit on him, but in the Golden Version, he's basically in NG+ at Max Stats and Maziodynes the entire area lol
I think this may be my favourite awakening scene. 0:47 I love how Izanagi slowly ascends up, looking all manacing, while Reach Out To The Truth plays in the background

I agree, I do think Yuri Lowenthal (yosuke) and Johnny Yong Bosch (Yu) have always been a good team though. Code Geass, many Tales of Games things like that.

Let’s be honest, it’d be better off if it was multi season, plus didn’t get pressured to heavily to meet deadlines. If enough time was spent, it would’ve been on par with if not better than this. Oh well, I’ll settle for the 5’s cutscenes
It is really confusing to me because Persona 4 gave them the EXACT model for how a story like this should be adapted into a television format. But they still screwed it up somehow.

This anime was what got me into Persona in the first place. Thank god it exists. Plus, when I first watched the show I stopped at the second last episode and bought Golden the next day, so the anime never spoiled me to Izanami

Izanagi is such a badass looking Persona. I love the starting Personas (for the 3 games I've played), Orpheus, Izanagi and Arsene, but god damn is Izanagi arguably the best of the 3, not only in this but he only has 1 weakness whereas the others both have 2. In P4A, Izanagi is an absolute beast.
I can smell the animators blood sweat and tears with how fluid some of the animation is.

Imo, when they do P4 Remake they need to take this scene for MC awakening. Imo it much better than og awakening. like here is when the persona awakening and the og location is when we learn how weapon works
I also hope they put in the detail with his jacket, he doesn't wear it open until he awakens to Izanagi here
When i first watch the Animation and the soundtrack kicked in, cant deny i was super pumped!
He was the only one to embrace who he really is. That's why his Persona was unlocked immediately instead of becoming a shadow. Yu knew who he was and embraced it. Awesome ^_^
Daniel Rutledge I'm not sure that's true, to an extent. He unlocked the power because he is the wild card persona user. He obtained the power of his persona because of Izanami, the goddess who gifted the power to him, Adachi, and Naratame. Although, he eventually does accept his shadow in the true ending animation, he doesn't accept his shadow to gain his persona in the beginning of the game ^_^

No, he never met his shadow because he was straight up given his persona ability. He didn't awaken to it the same way anyone else did.

Well remember what happened when each character learned/earned their persona's? They felt weak and some even passed out. If I were to guess, he probably felt weak after learning how to summon his for the first time too.
I always liked the feature that Persona Wielders can feel what their Personas do playing on the whole "Personas are just you with more bling"😁😁

My favorite version of the Persona 4 style cut-ins. Looks better here than in the game.
This show had a lot of heart to it. I've never played P4 but I was able to get hooked right away and enjoy this show quite a lot. P5 the animation, on the other hand...I don't know if it's just the way it's directed, or if the story of the game is just like that, since I've never played it, but I just can't get quite hooked to it. I found it kinda boring and I eventually just had to drop it since I wasn't enjoying it
Don't worry, that's just the anime's fault it seems boring. The actual game (in my opinion) is much better than Persona 4. Though I can't say for sure with Golden(the game) since I've only played the original

LaserShark123 Persona 5 is just as amazing, just a bit more adult in aspects. Not to mention the final boss scene was amazing AND that the protagonist can actually speak.
I'm still playing through P5 at the moment. Gameplay's definitely a step up, but so far I still have to give the 'Best Story' award to P4. (Not that P5's story is at all bad, just that P4 is so good.) But I'm just at September now, so maybe it ramps up.

The difference between this and P5A shows a difference between making an anime out of respect and passion and making one for a cash grab. If you don't believe me, just compare this awakening sequence to P5's. Night and day

Persona 4 Golden was the best in the series, man! Hundred times better than Persona 3 and Persona 5 on terms of story, soundtrack and characters. And its anime adaptation is just the definition of perfection. That's how a game is adapted to an anime.
1:36 is a pretty cool shot. It shows off how big Izanagi is. Plus the lighting and colors are on point.

yosuke in this scene of anime almost shitted himself asking himself if yu is really an ally or an enemy, also 1:12 when yu killed this shadow and appeared standing with the head set down the mf looked so much like the final boss

The thing is that the persona's voice is actually the same voice as the user, I just wished that it didn't sound so awkward here. In Persona 5 they did a great job in making it sound like they got someone else to voice the Persona, but if you listen very closely you can tell its the same voice actor.

Persona 4 was and is still the best game ever. What a great game man! Persona 3 and Persona 5 are not even close in terms of Story, soundtrack and characters. Persona 4 is also out of this world!
