guns, crack & knives - short MC Lyte remix - original vs remix

I was still in elementary school when i heard this tune come by on YO! MTV Raps. I recorded it on tape by holding my casette recorder next to the TV speakers and then i played it on walkman.. over and over and over...
Fast forward to 2018: with today's technologies i can isolate the vocals,drop in some samples, an 809 and 909 and remix the shit out of it.
So that's what i do :) First part is the original, second is my remix.
Just a quicky, for fun. Oldskool hiphop ftw.

I feel the vocals are pushed back too much in the remix. My dad might like the 2nd version more, but I'll gladly put up the first one ;)

Marinus an acapella does not exist so I isolated the vocals by out phasing them. This of course comes with a big loss of quality

You did a good job.. just bring up the volume of the vocals.. so it does not get lost in the mix.
