Vintage has been changing its definition by people since it is getting bigger in the fashion world and people tend to lose the real meaning behind it. When I started out with vintage clothes, vintage was used to describe clothing between 20 and 100 years old which clearly is a representation of the era in which it was produced. Considering clothes being over 100 years is antique. It could be said that depending on what era you are in. for example its the 1990s, clothes from the 1970s are considered vintage, and so on and so forth. also, no official merch from this era are vintage, yet. they will be in the coming decades but they arent vintage as of now, theyre just merch from this era. there are also vintage (shirts that is also at least 15-20 years old, yet wasn’t licensed), but waaay different from counterfeit bootleg vintage, that are worth alot like all the oj simpson shirts, so you cant count them out. that’s why you have retros, which some people wear because they enjoy the nostalgic look and feel of the vintage style, but a retro doesn’t mean its vintage, retro styles are commonly used to bring back old fashions, while vintage is a genuine piece from an era it was made. that’s why people enjoy it so much, they can get a piece of history, and the excitement you get of finding a grail in an ukay is something you would never get used to. But its a good start for you! I hope you find the real meaning of vintage clothing, its something I want you to experience first hand, cause its really fun and you start to appreciate clothes for what they are and what history and story it comes with!
