    • @monitorlizardkid8253
      @monitorlizardkid8253 Před 25 dny +1

@@NovicePCBuilder AC7s storyline may not have been PHENOMENAL like the ps2 trilogy, but it was still pretty darn good in it's own right, and it carries a message I agree wholeheartedly with, to paraphrase a quote from captain kirk: "Death, destruction, disease, horror, that's what war is all about. That's what makes it a thing to be avoided. Drones will make it neat and tidy, so neat and tidy, that there will be no reason to stop it."
That being said, Alex, the A.I. from the DLC missions is the antithesis of the twin ravens. And I think that as long as an A.I. remains loyal to humanity, they should be allowed to live their artificial lives, the trouble comes when you design an A.I. solely for military purposes, if a fully developed A.I. chooses to join the military, that's probably fine, but if a potentially sapient A.I. develops while being taught that it's sole purpose is to destroy the enemy, that will inevitably result in the A.I. being insane.

    Great video! Very to-the-point
AC7 is definitely a game that as a whole is greater than the sum of its parts. It's not Shakespeare, but boy does it sell you on being Trigger. Side characters are fun, the story is passable, but the gameplay loop and music hook you and don't let go. The aircraft tree and mission ranks ensure you have good replay value. You have to play the game at least five times to S every difficulty, then the time, guns, and damage challenges are another three if you didn't complete time and damage in one of the first five. Some missions aren't as fun on the tenth run as they were the first, but each suits the plot well and makes that first run so, so memorable. It remembers to be fun and it's refreshing to pick up a functional, finished product in an age where games are still broken years after launch or abandoned before cresting a single anniversary
It was my first introduction to the series, something that's now become a bit of an obsession for me in the last three years and I do think it suffers in some ways when compared to older franchise entries. Planes in the PlayStation trilogy handle exponentially better, missions in 6 are massive and varied, actually allowing for changes in play style to be rewarded. Overall though, still a great entry in the series that has brought in a new generation of fans who are now desperate for Ace Combat 8

I just finished AC7 after basically binging it for a weekend. First of the franchise I’ve played too.
I had a great time. For me the weakest point was the story, or at the least the off branching ones. I did find the conflict and world itself very interesting though. Needing to rethink how to handle certain missions was great , like the A-10 might not deserve a ton of love but god damn I couldn’t have beaten the Long Day for the first time without it!
I also didn’t even notice the music. The first missions music wasn’t great and it irked me that I could turn it down mid mission so I lowered it in the menu. I’ll have to go back and pay attention to it since I plan to play a bit more.
Funny that you reviewed it late and it worked out perfectly for me. Cheers.

I picked up the game when it was on sale here recently, and I'm very glad I did. There's a nice wide range of aircraft, especially with DLC, so there's many good choices. I do somewhat like that each has it's own special weapons loadout, which kinda forces you to fly more than just one aircraft that you like, incentivizing attackers for heavy ground strike missions, etc. I do miss a few aircraft, the Tornado is an interesting aircraft that I see has been in past titles, but isn't here. I ended up running the 2nd SP mission alot, and loved using the Rafale, as it let me use LACMs to clear the ports and ships, while switching to AA for the mopup and boss, I wish it gave abit more of that option in other missions.
That's one of my only real quibbles, is that I can't take a better multirole loadout, LAAMs and 6AGM or something similar, letting me run some of the more mixed missions more easily. The standard missile does serve well enough as a filler weapon, letting you use it on ground targets when you take anti-air and vice versa, I just wish there were a better way to upgrade it in that case. The upgrade system is pretty great in most aspects, forcing you to make some choices and specialize in what will be useful, rather than upgrading everything across the board, but I wish you could have a separate tree that gave the standard missile permeant upgrades, or that you could use upgrades on guns and standard missiles separate from special weapons. I'm honestly shocked there doesn't seem to be a mod tweaking the upgrade system, allowing for more freedom in upgrades, I like playing through with the limitations for the campaign, but once I've completed that, I sometimes want to sortie in a horde mode style mission and go to town with a fun weapon, going all guns one run, or railgun, or whatever. I love that about Project Wingman, allowing for some of that freedom, and even more with mods.

I played AC7 when it came out and it was the most infuriating game I ever played. I love the series generally but had a very difficult time with this one. I think putting a timer on the missions is totally unnecessary and coupled with some really bad missions, like being in a sandstorm and having to locate key targets within the time limit, man it killed the fun stone dead. I've sunk about 190 hours into project wingman and about 100 in ac7.
AC7 is quality wise the better product.
The product as a whole is just way more polished, there is no aruging there.
Less bugs, more story in like world and charaters, the music and a hell of a lot more beginner friendly.
What made me stick to PW instead of AC7 is just a way looser expirence.
There are no pauses or cutscences, missions are shorter and they just let you get away with dumb shit like 180 railgunning at mach 3 or throwing unguided bombs onto airships.
The pace overall is just faster.
I mean hell, with the pw mk1 i can run through the whole game in like 5 hours.
Tomcat might be abit slower, but still pretty fast.

The physics in PW for sure is more robust. I don't actually know if it's possible to hit an enemy jet with an unguided bomb in AC7.
Also, while AC7 had the budget for an actual orchestra and PW didn't, Jose Pavli's composition still really shines. It's very distinct from what AC does but still hits the same feelings, I think, despite the overall quality being a bit lower.

Please use the button that makes the camera follow your selected target and get used to using it most of the time. I see way too many novice players never use it and it's just painful to watch when they could make dogfighting and tracking ground targets while turning so much easier for themselves. Even if you mod the game to widen the FOV, it's still extremely useful.
Even without a gamepad that has back buttons, multitasking with all four of the face buttons should be easy as long as you keep your thumb above all four buttons at once.
