    @lyonvensa Před 4 lety +459

    What were the guys in Project Aces eating to make this mission?
    We got an escort mission against good enemy aces and very annoying hard-to-hit drones, while giving you a feeling of being with a big allied squadron that protects each other and cheers when you down an enemy and saving them
    Then it shifts to the breath holding moment to detect the Alicorn with the MAD with the sense of urgency to find it as fast as you can nagging at the back of your head. The moment you do, you find out the enemy KNOW how you're going to look for them and disappeared, running away. That part is heart dropping alone, and then you have to do it again with enemies on your back, hoping that your allies that you always know to be less skilled then you to cover you. Since most people tend to shoot things down themselves in Ace Combat, this really tore you between finding the Alicorn ASAP or shoot down the enemies first.
    And then, the Alicorn, the very thing that you've been chasing for three missions appeared in front of you, unleashing INSANE amount of fire, the first time you see what it can do, even sinking allied ships so easily. Watching the flurry of AA fire, missiles, fighters, UAVs, the railguns AND the shield drones will show you that you're facing a really, REALLY dangerous enemy. I don't think there's another enemy in Ace combat where you have to pay so much attention to different things to dodge.
    The moment the Alicorn surrenders really felt like a 'you know he's guilty, but you can't arrest him' moment. I think it's just me, but knowing how unpredictable Torres is, I actually think that he won't attack again and find out some other way to do it. The part when you have to stop the railgun through the shield drones gave me a feeling similar when everything goes into slow motion and you have to shoot a precise target in mere seconds.
    That final part is just plain madness, not just from Torres himself. The entire submarine felt like it's a madman that just got shot and bleeding, but they still swing a knife wildly and spraying bullets everywhere. Add the fact that the railgun turrets keeps firing in a high rate of fire when you have to go REALLY close to it to hit the main railgun.
    Also, I like Torres' story about how he 'managed to hit one out of the two shots'. It's an ominous foreshadowing that even against a harsh condition, he will not miss, but if he somehow does, the next shot WILL hit. Ironically, this applies to Trigger too, when he didn't manage to destroy the railgun at first, he'll destroy it the second time. When Torres said 'landing a shot on a difficult target is elegant and true beauty', that ALSO applies to Trigger trying to hit the railgun.
    Finally, when it's over, when Strider and Cyclops just fly together in a straight line, sighs of relief are made as the adrenaline dies down. You did it. It was really tough, but you did it. Pretty nice that the mission didn't end immediately.
    I'm gonna say it: This is the best boss battle in the Ace Combat series ever by a LARGE margin. No other opponent gives you that much adrenaline or that many emotions coursing through you.

      Nah, they were all loyal unto death to Matias. Not only was he already a venerated war hero but by following his orders for those two years they were stuck at the bottom of the sea, they survived. Yes, some of them died, and I think they might have been killed off to preserve supplies while also being the ones who would not fall in line with him. For two whole years. Just imagine the panic, claustrophobia, homesickness, and 'sub fever' a person would suffer. . Undoubtedly, they all became a bit unhinged and Matias being the sensual and charismatic war hero, they held onto the belief that he could get them out of there.
      Lo and Behold, they were rescued which undoubtedly made them even more loyal to him. They had the ocean buried on top of them, everyday worried about dwindling food supplies and the structural integrity of the hull giving way. "Be not afraid! Did you not leave your fears behind at the bottom of the Abyss?"
      These men knew no fear of death and would follow their captain through the gates of Hell. Even when the submarine was split in two, none of them sought to escape. The captain went down with his ship, and his crew chose to sink with him.

Both games have impractically large submarines with railguns targeting high-value targets which, if destroyed, will bring about a swift victory in the war for the enemy. Both fights take place at either sunrise or sunset. In MGS4, the submarine _Outer Haven_ engages in battle with the _Missouri,_ an Iowa-class battleship. In AC7, it is explained that Torres was in command of the _Tanager,_ also an Iowa-class battleship, before taking command of the _Alicorn._

    So, having learned through CZcams comments that both the Scinfaxci and Hrimfaxi (sp?) were based on Norse mythology, I decided to google "Alicorn." And this goes way back.
    According to ancient Assyrian mythology, Alicorns are a hybrid of a Pegasus (winged horse) and a unicorn. They were commonly mentioned as being along side winged bulls. According to the exact legend, either the Alicorn itself is seen as evil or they are seen as good counteracting the bulls' evil.
    Fits in perfectly with Ace Combat. The Eurusians saw it as a weapon to justly strike Osea while the Oseans saw it as a terrorist's weapon.

    Torres wouldn't have saved a ten million by killing a million. If he had nuked Oured, I gurantee the Oseans would have returned the favor to Erusea and at the minimum turned Farbanti from a crater into a radioactive crater.
