- Ferrari weren't too keen on lending the Top Gear team its new Enzo. Not surprising when you consider it costs half a million pounds! Fortunately, Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason, just happened to have one. He also had a new book out too. Cue some shameless plugging... of the book!

Ah, back when paddle shifting needed to be explained.
What's paddle shifting?
Jeremy wasnt explaining paddle shifting. He was saying about what all happened during 150 ms and contrasting it with the simple action of pulling a paddle.
+Bandit King Manually shifting gears with the paddles on the back of the steering wheel.
150 milliseconds.... modern dual clutch gearboxes do it in.... 30? What a progress in just over 10 years.
cloridan Beauchamps a cvt does it in 0ms
I love how many Pink Floyd references he's dropping, besides the book plug.
It's so good haha
I'm not a pink Floyd fan, can someone tell me some of them?
i wish you were here
+Nushnee it's A Saucerful of Secrets, Atom Heart Mother, Dark Side of the Moon, Delicate Sound of Thunder, Set the controls for the heart of the sun, Wish You Were Here, The Division Bell ;)
+Mafkaas Dikkema PLus ther's the one armed bandit noise at the beginning of Money at 1:31, and then the whole intro when Mason takes his helicopter
13 years later, and it is STILL an absolute marvelous... book
😆😆😆😆😆
this clip is from around 2005
The "Author and part-time drummer" line is even funnier when you consider the fact that Nick Mason was in Pink Floyd from their formation in 1965 to their last album in 2014. He never left or took a hiatus. The only member to do so, in fact
they played fcking mbv. so good
yup that was the whole point of the joke good job buddy
2:30 A Saucerful Of Secret
4:00 Atom Heart Mother
4:33 Ummagumma
4:39 Delicate Sound Of Thunder
4:43 Set The Control For The Heart Of The Sun
4:48 Dark Side Of The Moon
4:51 Wish You Were Here
6:04 The Division Bell
Just a few Pink Floyd reference that I managed to pick up
+when nick mayson ride a helicopter *Money*
1:28 Great Gig in the Sky
High Hopes
astronomy domine
I picked them up too. They know their references well.
so the laferrari is actually an F70
Yeah apparently, what was the 30, 20, 10?
+Attie Russell good question, why start at 40?
+Matthijs Nijhuis f60, the f70 is the laferrari
+Matthijs Nijhuis Ferrari's 40th anniversary.
+Matthijs Nijhuis and the enzo is a car i'll do anything to get.
0:22 Astronomy Domine
1:26 The Great Gig In The Sky
1:33 Cash register sound effect from Money
2:30 Jezza namedrops Saucerful Of Secrets
4:00 Namedrop of Atom Heart Mother
4:33 Namedrop of Ummagumma, Delicate Sound Of Thunder, and Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun. He also mentions Wish You Were Here and Dark Side Of The Moon with High Hopes playing in the background from 4:48
5:32 Astronomy Domine again
6:04 Mention of The Division Bell
7:38 Money
Thank you for this. I was going crazy trying to figure out which song was playing at 4:48. I just couldn't put my finger on it. Thanks mate :)
You totally missed the best tune. Soon, by My Bloody Valentine.

This car is turning 20 years old and it looks like a car that released out yesterday! Time really does fly
exactly
This car is older than me
I don’t know why but I think it’s ugly.
Camed
It looked old the day it came out...
From before he had coined flappy paddles...
Fancy seeing you here
Can't believe it's been 10 years since Top Gear did this review...
Damn man that's crazy, and Jeremy did not age well.
***** At least may and clarkson aren't dying their hair and having their teeth whitened
Josh Rice He doesn't whiten his teeth!
Bill Pairaktaridis One episode, he was reviewing the Marcos tso gt2. After the review, Jeremy found a tooth whitening kit on the seat of the car.
MrWoopWoop12345 I was joking because that's how he always reacts. And it's TV. I doubt it was actually found...
It's crazy to me that 1300kg was considered heavy back then. Nowadays it's near impossible to buy a new car under 1500 kilos.
I can safely say that the Enzo has aged very well
Yes
exactly
Just like Jeremy
It looks incredibly old
Over 10 years old and still out of all the Ferraris, it's still my absolute dream car.
TheTarrMan 458, f12, 488 and laferrari are beyond it
Lewis Taylor Yeah but the Enzo is dedicated to the man himself.
I'd go with the F40
My dream car is the 488 spider. It’s a beast.
+TheTarrMan
_The best Ferrari is the next one_ *Enzo Ferrari*
It's weird this was 10 years ago and now look at the evolution for those 3 supercars at the end...
We have the Porsche 918 replacing the Carrera GT
We have the Pagani Huayra replacing the Zonda
And we have the Laferrari Evolving from the Enzo
And who knows what will happen in the next 10 years! God I love cars
Thunder Catz don't the reventon and the veneno
And McLaren P1 replacing the F1
masteralexdalcompute The F1 is 90s so it's older than enzo and CGT, he just mention cars that only wait 10 years to develop a new one
LaFerrari was made from the FXX project, not the Enzo.
12 year later, still the most ahead-of-its-time looking Ferrari
the enzo is 20 years old now
that's because its proper Japanese design.
*"oh, I wish you were here - just to feel this power!"* 4:49
Not only is Pink Floyd my favorite band of all time but the Enzo is, probably, my most favorite car of all time. That, by default, must make this my favorite video of all time.
+xXGrizZ It´s also my favorite band but not my favorite car.Still an awesome car though !
how about the F40?
Yup favorite car my exotic car the Enzo my muscle 1969 camaro
+xXGrizZ
Enzo Ferrari + Pink Floyd = nice combo.
Being a Jeremy Clarkson fan just adds up to it
still by far my favourite ferrari.
its an absolutely stunning looking car
What about the Ferrari 250 GTO?
Nah best is the f40
chemicalBR0 it really is
I prefer the F50, 355 and Testarossa purely on grounds of looks.
@@childericking The F50 is hideous.
Its 2019 and the F60 is still the most beautiful car ever made...and Pink Floyd is still has the most iconic and timeless music of all time
The solo from High Hope fits the car, the video and supercar passion very well! Just imagine the freedom of having your own supercar that you love with all your heart, an empty road, and High Hopes on the stereo. That's what I'd call freedom and living!
Engineering perfection. Now, 13 years later we have the holy trinity of LaFerrari, Mclaren P1 and Porsche 918. Imagine where we'll be in another 13 years.
LaFerrari 13, Mclaren p13 and Porsche 931
Andrew Cuthbertson I would prefer an enzo to a 918 and p1!!
BugattiSS 13 Why lol
Mind Faq Well firstly I'm more of a Ferrari person, i think it looks better , and the sound of it is unlike anything else ever!!! And the insane power from it. Also the feel you would get with this car. I reckon it is better than them!!! One day an Enzo will be mine ❤️
BugattiSS 13 You know that there is a LaFerrari?

"the gap between enzo and slr is as big as between Schumacher anf Coulthard"
BURN
You can't spell "and"?
BURN
2000s era F1 rivalries. That takes me back...
Coulthard has always been a cocky presenting himself as an F1 Worldchampion.
But he is just as the level of Webber, nothing special though.
@Salad Breath Yeah Because McLaren was the best at those times
But he always was a 2nd
Of course he was going to get podiums having the best car, as Weber with Red Bull, Rubens with Ferrari, or Nico with Mercedes
So what's your point? What about his time with Red Bull?
He always crashed, got failed starts, he isn't good, he is a bad driver believing he has 9 world championships
@Salad Breath Just facts
Love all the Floyd references
"part time drummer" wtf
1:27 the great gig in the sky
1:33 money
2:30 sourceuful of screats
3:59 atom heart mother
4:33 ummagumma
4:38 delecate sound of thunder
4:43 set controll for the heart of the sun
4:48 dark side of the moon
4:50 wish you were here
4:54 high hopes guitar solo
6:04 division bell
7:38 money once again
And that is evry single reference in this video to pink floyd
Sorry for any spelling errors
The Enzo is from an era, when computers managed mechanical engineering, not controlling them. Where formulas of mechanisms had to be manually calibrated. Just like the Carrera GT (who the same company produced the carbon chassis for the both the CGT and the enzo) demonstrate. A true masterpiece.
I am a die hard Ferrari fan but i don't believe in a war between Lambo and Ferrari . Both brands create masterpieces . Diablo SV, F40 , Countach , F50 , 355 , Miura etc etc .
Miura , uogh! So nice...
JPB UploadsUK Absolutely ...
Neil Leisenheimer Well of so , the winner is obviously Ferrari for me anyway .
Neil Leisenheimer I love the 355 , f50 , f40 , 550 maranello and so and so but the ones i counted were my all time favs .
Neil Leisenheimer That's my dream man .
I actually bought the book because of this video. How about that? :)
It's a good book...
I used to watch Top Gear with my father in law... he has a copy of the book. I now think he bought one because of this review too.
Me too ,🤣🤣🤣. I don't like Ferraris I loved lambos and I got one too And I hear Pink Floyd In it 🤣🤣🤣🤣♥️
we'll i actually brought the car becuase of this video
Still head over heels for the Enzo! Stunning and timeless ❤
To this day I'm still waiting for the Lotus Collin
Or the McLaren Bruce
My first dream car, The Enzo will forever hold a place very near and dear to my heart.

F40!
I really like F50's looks :(
It's under appreciated
It's my fav ferrari i dont care what people think about it
F50 + Buggatti

_Enzo_
My favourite car let alone Ferrari is the F50. Underrated car, due to the McLaren f1s impressive numbers and racing pedigree, then the high anticipation following the F40. Most liked the F40 more, but only those who have driven the two would be qualified to give an opinion. Schmee and evo were more impressed with the F50
But jeremy does complain about the engine feeling like its bolted to your back.
This is not just a car... This is one of the rarest piece of mastery in art of it's own kind...
It's beauty is timeless ❤️❤️❤️
exactly
Nick Mason is just such a class act. We should all be happy to have had Pink Floyd.💰
Omg lol, I had watched this episode before I really got into Pink Floyd. And now, after totally enveloping myself in their music and history, this episode is golden. Jeremy is perfect.
I am you and what I see is me!
I am assuming you are quite young considering you got to know Pink Floyd so late, nevertheless you have a good taste, I can see that in your profile pic as well. :). Cheers.
11 years old car, still one of my favorite car of all time
One of my favorite reviews. Classic Top Gear. I love Pink Floyd and the Enzo
This car was my childhood, I remember the poster in mine and my cousins old bedroom, and a little car model I stole from him, I always loved this car but as I matured and grew older it slowly became my favourite car, and today it’s my definitive dream car
Anyone else get chills from 4:48-5:10?
No why
Pink Floyd; high hopes;
watch?v=vDb7px_pwl0
from about 4:20 seconds onwards.
It's not quite the same version but you should be able to find it on youtube.
+Seige CJ Epic song, epic car, and Clarkson waxing poetic. What's not to get goosebumps about?.. : )
+Roninwarrior7 He is quoting songs by pink floyd actually.
If the book had a Ferrari logo on it, it would cost at least £100.
If it had an i in front it would cost £600 XD
Right!
Just realised another pink floyd reference, the cha-chings (1:33) I believe are the first few notes of “money”
The Enzo was the first car that I was able to identify, I was five years old and I knew what it was,... to this day it’s my favorite car, and I got to see one in person once it was amazing !
Same, it’s my first „favorite car“ I can remember. Still haven’t seen one to this day :(
one of the best top gear films. great music, superb filming and stirring commentary. clarkson manages to describe the enzo like a person, he just gets it.
Ohh man i love that sweet solo from high hopes
"Ive never known such savagery" One of his most iconic quotes.
coming back to this classic is a pleasure
I think Chris Evans and the BBC will screw up the new topgear without Clarkson
You mean without all three of them.
You couldn't have been more correct!
Yeah idk what they were thinking when the put Matt lablonk (nice spelling) on British top gear. It's a British show and here in America cars are way different. We like cheap horsepower so when you put a man who doesn't understand hot hatchbacks then there is a problem
Yup. When I saw one of them pressure wash the paint off of a perfectly good Volvo I knew that it wasn't just "not top gear anymore" but also terrible.
I miss the old top gear it's just not the same without Clarkson,Hammond and maye
11 years and I cry every time I see that car. Automotive perfection!
Hands down my favorite Farrari. More beautiful than the LaFerrari in my opinion. Love driving mine... on Gran Turismo 🤦🏻♂️
it's my favorite flagship ferrari i suppose. but i like the f430 better.
That kind of machine truly belongs to somebody like Nick Mason, one of the most musical drummer in rock
"RACE!" 2:40 HIS EXPRESSION IS JUST MAGIC.
This was the last car of the era of mechanical masterpieces, last of the raw hypercars, all the new hypercars are nice but they are missing the rawness of the oldies
i would rather say, this was the first supercar of an new era. The Carrera gt is the last mechanical supercar. Just the fact the Carrera gt has a clutch and a gear leaver. The Ferrari a flappy paddle gearbox... Both great cars!
Oh so you must've driven them all then.
***** That one also has gismos and drive settings im afraid. But it's at least not as nerdy as a 458.
That doesnt make any sense
zehero z Why not, nerd boy?? You can post random statement,s but back them up if you possess the power?
It makes perfect sense. And only laymen dont understand.
3:30 all that build up for clarkson to misshift on a flappy paddle
All you had to do is press the right button
4:35 hands down the best moment from this video
exactly
Favorite Pink Floyd song playing at the end, and this video is a testament as to why lol
I have watched this video on 4 or 5 separate occasions and I would have to say that this review is my favorite top gear review of all time. The passion Jeremy has in his voice and excitement from a guy that has driven every super car to date is something amazing. I hope I have the privilege one day to drive one of these incredible cars so I can feel what Jeremy is feeling in this video. For a guy of his background to be so blown away from driving a car, it has got to be something special.
Love the very subtle product placement 😂 Nick Mason is the coolest guy on Earth!
I've been watching this for years, and i still smile like a moron when he brilliantly uses Pink Floyd's titles... just perfect... absolutelly perfect. In love with the car for years and years, and obviously a huge respect for Jeremy Clarkson... just amazing!
Can't believe that it was that long ago. Just think, The Mercedes SLR McLaren, the Porsche Carrera GT and the Ferrari Enzo were the best of the best. Technology could not get any better. Now the McLaren P1, Porsche 918 and the LaFerrari. How times have changed!
Well in that case times haven't changed at all hahaha
I was thinking the same thing, those almost feel like "classic" cars now. I hope the P1, LaFerrari and the 918 will be looked at years from now like these are.
I dont think anyone at that time thought that we would be making a hybrid supercar within 20 years and not for the reasons that they made them.
@@snyc42 Times do change indeed.
I've seen one of these, an Audi R8 and a Dodge Viper parked at a car wash one day, in the middle of fuckknows New Jersey
+MrChiefBlackhawk ill see if I have pics to prove it, I know I took some but it was a few yrs ago
+MrChiefBlackhawk ok fairly certain it isnt an R8 but idgaf about audi's so I don't know what each one looks like but

+MrChiefBlackhawk I live in Jersey!
I love watching this 10 years later. How amazing those machines were then (still are) but just how much further with the engineering and design we have come today, it really makes you joyful for the looming future!
Not really. All we have awaiting us are silent boring electric cars. Bah!
The best program ever. And reviewing the Enzo with High Hopes in the background. Love it
I might've already said that a few months ago, but ill retell it:

Can't believe there's so much hate on the way this car looks, I must say the one I saw in a Ferrari dealership has to be one of the most striking cars I've ever seen.
Your profile picture could not be more appropriate for this video.
@@artiegohome lol
Seen this a few times now , love the view from above
there's no one who can design a peak nose on a such beautiful car than ferrari itself ... for me the most special designed car ever ... very classic and beautiful and the v12 6.0 l sound naturally aspired it's legendary... whom who designed it ...respect
Why didn't they play "welcome to the machine" or "On the run" white driving?
0:12 I paused on Hammond's face. I can't get this image out of my mind. Please help.
A guy that lives down the street from me knows another guy that restored an Enzo. And not just any Enzo. The one with the most miles, one that was actually totalled in a crash. I've sat in that car. Got about 70 pictures to prove it too. I love that car
"you can't help thinking that we really have reached a peak, that supercars today are approaching a state of engineering perfection"
it's wild that the models of this era really were the very last in the analog sportscar lineage. DCTs, driver assists, forced induction all became the standard in the coming years.
1 of Jeremy's best reviews
The puns are awesome!!
I've been working inside Ferrari factory for a while years ago.
I sat in many Ferrari's. Just sat, haven't drive, but still a great feeling.
My favorite by far is Ferrari 149 California.
How can a man be this brilliant? Best moment of all of top gear, right here... just love this
Top Gear + Pink Floyd = Awesome
+the enzo
Just after 7 min Jeremy comments that he believes we've reached a peak of supercar perfection. Then some years later we get the Huayra, LaFerrari, 918, and the P1 along with the One:1, Vulcan, and the other cars coming soon. One can only imagine what will exist and what track times we'll see in a decade's time.
Forgot the c-x75. Even tho its just a concept car
this was a simpler better time for cars I have to say. this CAR will never be beaten for its time
I also come from the future, President Hillary started a war with Russia and now Lada is manufactured in Detroit , it costs 3000 rubals.
Bob Jan lol, I come even more from the future. Want to confess? :-)
until we run out of petrol :-P
People who are saying look how far we've come with supercars from this, more than 10 years, when I don't think we have evolved car experience so much so as just piling horsepower on top of another, nowadays, it is not about experience and excitement, it is just simply how to make more money without seeing what enthusiasts want, that is my opinion
I agree! More computers handling everything. More power with forced induction and electric motors. Faster acceleration using super fast automated gearboxes. It seems to be all about statistics and not about the driving experience. Then again in the used car market there's a huge amount of choice for average people to choose from if they want a sports car which delivers driving pleasure. I encourage people to get one. Don't let it be just something you'll do some day.
Clarkson: "Engineering perfection"
Pagani still making one off Zondas: If it ain't broke don't fix it
nick mason is a badass.
damn, this made me shiver all over! This is absolutely classic.
still the best background song ever for a car review. Truly majestic & did the job to enhance the mood
Craig Armstrong - Business
This review is incredible. The Enzo will be forever my dream car.
me too
There was a farmer who owned a tractor repair company who was a big fan of Ferrari cars. One day he bought a Ferrari and was disappointed to see the engine wasn't much better than his tractors. So he went to the Ferrari company to give them advice but was coldly rejected. The manager their was furious that some farmer tried to give Ferrari advice on engines.
The farmer got home and vowed to make better cars than Ferrari. That is why we have the Lamborghini today. Ferrari still seems to show a lot of arrogance.
" you were chosen by Ferrari" lol
No it he didnt, it was only the clutch that was broken and he wanted a better replacement since the clutch was the same one his tractors used. Ferrari rejected him because a tractor producer couldnt possibly know more about sports car than ferrari. He wasnt even a farmer, he was a mechanic during ww2 and after that he started a tractor company and a gas heater and air conditioning manufacturer.

Yorick Derksen Well done. Maybe my version is close enough and moral values are more conspicuous?
Korenoob Peekay There isn't much difference I would say but the guy already was a successful businessman, so that definitely helped him a lot. The rest doesn't matter a lot in the story. The moral values might be a bit more conspicuous not too much. I just wanted to tell you that it wasn't exactly accurate. I do agree with you though Ferrari was a huge dick about and they still come off as an arrogant company. :)
I'm not arguing with Yorick.
Le Moulin De La Galette Sir Feruccio was a astrology nut and a taurus that is how he got that outrageous bull that sits on every Lamborghini.
5:48 pure gold
" This is the division bell between the ordinary and the absolutely astonishing! "
Perfectly summed up one line review of the Enzo.
7:38 man spawned a helicopter like he was in GTA💀
money!
At 0:50 I thought he was going to say "sponsored by audible".
😂 😂
Crazy how far we’ve come in just 10 years. Jeremy drove that Tesla P100D SUV thingy on GT which would absolutely crush the Enzo in a drag race.
2019 here and still an awesome video
3:40 My Bloody Valentine - Soon
Very surprised to hear this here
Subwoofer Dildo yes
I love the way people are asking why is Nick Mason so special to be selected to be one of the lucky people to get an Enzo.
Nick Mason has been a Ferrari customer/collector for over 40 years.
I suspect he has owned more Ferraris than most people have had ordinary cars.
The highest prices for investment-grade autos have been achieved through discreet private sales. Owners of other Ferrari GTOs, who include Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason, have recently received offers between $40 million and $50 million from prospective purchasers, dealers said.Mason was among the GTO owners convening for a 50th-anniversary get-together in France in July 2012. He was joined by the Goldman Sachs banking scion Peter Sachs; Rob Walton, chairman of Wal-Mart; and Lawrence Stroll, the financier who built Tommy Hilfiger into a global brand in the 1990s.
The Enzo has always been my fav car ever. It's seriously sad to see how far we've come. I remember when this was THE shit
I remember watching this while eating some of them tiny doughnuts from Sainsbury’s and getting so gassed over the shear sight of it
The way Clarkson included those Pink Floyd references were genius!
Top gear is my favorite show and the cars are great. Enzo rocks!
No FHD video, but this is masterpiece video forever
LOL it’s a great way to advertise a book and also show the public a beautiful car. This gentleman is a good man for getting top gear to check out a very unique car along with a very interesting book. Thank you so much for dedicating your car book and time for the public
