I left uneasy at Step 1 of the process: drop SD card parts with Gold into acid. The acid and "acidic smoke" is enough to not want that near me or my family. Hopefully a far less pollution method will be developed one day. This is why I put quite a bit of thought into how I consume electronics.

So here’s a question: how much does the processing cost vs gold value recovered? How much gold do you need to recover to turn a profit? That tiny bead doesn’t amount to your costs.
Only those acids and sodium, maybe less than $1 if I buy 1KG each ingredients(could be cheaper buy in bulk). Current gold price for 0.08 gram is $5, that actually pretty profitable if you can securing large amount sd card trash.

Based on the comments I see alot of people thinking th why are gonna do this. This is extremely dangerous and can kill you. You Must have a ventilation system if indoors and ventalator. the white powder is sodiummetabisulphate same substance used in wines or beers, hydrochloric acid is also concrete cleaner term as hcl. can be bought at any hardware store for $15 can.
I asked a whole town of gold smiths if they could extract the gold from electronics for me to make a small angel shaped ring I could pass down to my kids some day . Not one of them was willing to do it . I still dont know why . I was even willing to give them a larger piece of he gold as long as there was just enough to coat the angel shape .

This can't be that profitable unless you go around collection SD cards all day and essentially melting them down for the gold plating. I mean when you factor in time, supplies, etc, you might break even if you're lucky. And this isn't even factoring in the potential risks, especailly working with things like acids.
Next you can collect bottle caps and sell them for Gold which you can melt back onto the SD cards you extracted Gold from in the first place! Lol 😝
