  • In this video we take an in-depth look at digiscoping adapters to help you decide what the best phone scope mount adapter, or phone scope adapter is best for your specific digiscoping needs and uses.
Over the course of the last year plus we have been testing, using, and experimenting with seven different digiscoping (also known as phone scope adapters or phone scope mounts) to find which ones work the best in what situations. We wanted to find the best phone scope for hunting, best digiscoping adapter for the money, and the overall best digiscoping system.
Each design has its inherent flaws and benefits, and in this video we go over each of them in detail. In this video we feature the following digiscoping adapters:
    ScopeCam universal adapter
    ScopeCam phone specific adapter
    Onglass digiscoping adapter
    Magview digiscoping adapter
    Ollin digiscoping system
    PhoneSkope Universal system
    PhoneSkope phone/optic specific adapter
Each model and option works, but how well, and what are the benefits/downsides of each? We'll cover all of that!

A few notes about the phone mounts you reviewed. Any push-on or clamp-on eyepiece mount that sits above the eyecup will be a problem for eyeglass wearers as they will reduce full field visibility when you bring your glasses to the eyepiece. Another issue is light leaks around your phones camera lens. If there is an open gap between the mount and the phone that allows stray light, especially if the sun is directly above, will cause ghosting, flare or a drop of image contrast. I don’t hear anyone talk about this, but I’ve seen it happen in my own images. I’m also surprised that you didn’t include the Novagrade unit which the one I use on my Kowa 99A. It’s not perfect, but it does offer some advantages. Thanks for putting this video together. The amount of information about digiscoping online is limited and this is a great resource!

Hey there! Thank you for those great points! Yes, those are both very true, and we did notice some light getting between the phone case and adapter if there was a gap, which caused a flare and/or sun spot in the lens in certain situation (with the Magview and ScopeCam...those are the only ones that had a gaps). We tried to get as much of that info in the video as possible, but this one already got very long! Thanks for watching!

I got my magview one last year and I’m pretty happy with it the lack of phone case is important to me since me and 3 of my other buddies all just have the metal plate on our phone and any one can use the spotter as we only have one between the group. I also have magviews binocular adapter and I really enjoy having it with me for those quick moments or times when I don’t have a spotter with me! The alignment can be a little tricky at first but I’ve found it pretty easy after using it for a bit.

What a great comparison of these devices, great job as usual!
I like the universal ScopeCam, yes it takes more time is a bit cumbersome and takes getting used to but, it also fits binos and you dont a new case when your phone changes!
I traded the Magview for the ScopeCam, found it too tedious aligning the picture on the magview.

I have the ollin for my binos. I wish I knew that their phone case for a Samung phone covers the camera light as well as blocks the other lens on the phone so you can't zoom in like normal when not using it on a spotter nor can you use the light on your phone around camp. Seems like something they could easily fix and not cover these up?

@@BackwoodsPursuit probably towards phoneskope, mainly because of the lack of fussing with it. Self-alignment, fit for my old phone, price. If I can find it, they even make an adapter for the otterbox case I already have. Having said tha the Olin looks very nice, I am going to look at that one a little more. After I finish the video later of course. Didn't get to your final feelings.

Hey there! Glad it was helpful. I'd have to check if Ollin has one that fits the spotter, but if so, that one was one of our favorites. If it doesn't fit and you want a self aligning model, the Onglass is another great option that is less expensive.

I just received the newer phone skope carbon pro for IPhone 15 pro max. Nice case, not bulky perfect alignment on the 1x and 3x camera. A little pricey but seems worth it so far. I’m selling my Magview and Novagrade tired of fighting with alignment and phone slipping on magnet due to weight. IMO, Carbon pro is much better system then Magview and Novagrade.

@@BackwoodsPursuit I went with the new fixed position scopecam adapter, which wasn’t in your review. It’s a bit bulkier than others but seems the most heavy duty, fits the widest range of optics, and is self-aligning. All at a decent price while supporting a small company.
