      I was having such a hard time earlier today because of that and I wish I had seen this video yesterday 😅 well at least I made it on time (it was supposed to be for Friday but I was asked today to deliver it today 😬

    Can you please make a video on difference between Sharp corner in a straight line vs curve corner in a straight line.
    One of friend always use curve corner, he almost never use sharp edges.
    One of your video explaining that topic will be really helpful.

    Nice tips! You can also use the Pathfinder tool non-destructively by holding alt/option when creating combinations. This used to be the default.

      Yep that's a good one, but then it's still a compound path :P
      I have shown that shortcut a few times in older videos, the main focus today was the attributes panel

    It is super easy to undo the Pathfinder - Minus Front once you knockout a shape. All you need to do is press Command-Option-Shift+8 on a mack and it will release the shape from each other.

    Very nice tips! The first logo looks like "Gamer One" because of G and 1 on his end. A nice logo for a channel or a games review blog or website or even a pc gamer accessories manufacturer/brand :)

    I've made a suggestion in a AI suggestions forum (from Adobe, recomended by an Adobe Evangelist) to be added a Type Arrow, to select only type... Nice tips!

    you can do that... or simply use modern tools like Figma to build complex nondestructive shapes with ease. I haven't touched illustrator in couple years and now looking back at this I definitely can say I don't miss it.
    Overall good video though. 👌

      To each their own, I cannot be fussed in learning new software, plus I can do what I need to do with Ai, so there isn't any need right now

      His example is logo design which is a very appropriate use for illustrator. Nobody’s going to use Figma for logo design. Lol. Icons? Sure.

    Isn't it quicker to just Option+Click Minus Front from the Pathfinder Panel? That way it's not destructive.

      I might make a video on that at some point, but essentially it is a square, an outlined G and a lot of work with compound paths or if you want, the pathfinder

    I hate using compound paths! They always feel clumsy.
    I rather use optical masks to keep easy edibility.

      There is no real thing as brand logo design. When you hear the term branding, is often related to a brand package. This could include things like a logo, typography design, brand colour palette, demographic research, market research in general, actual brand name creation and so forth.
      Logo designing is just making a logo for a company or brand

      @@SatoriGraphics Hey, Tom - You use the terms "compound path" and "compound shape" interchangeably, but they're not the same thing. You went down the Object menu to "Compound Path", then called the result "Compound Shape". Now you're saying that holding down the Option key when using the Pathfinder panel results in a Compound Path, but it doesn't: it's a Compound Shape. Granted, in some ways they're similar, but they are not the same. You do some really excellent work in your tutorials, but I would ask that you try to be more careful in using correct terminology. Makes it a whole lot easier to follow. And thanks for what you do.

      @@SatoriGraphics Well, that's not entirely true. All you've done is created a compound shape when you use the pathfinder tool. So all you really need to do (in most cases) is to go to Object > Compound Path > Release and you'll get your shapes back.
