ALRIGHT FELLAS THIS ONE'S A LITTLE CHAOTIC. It's FINALS season and my last brain cells are being eaten alive by comparative vertebrate anatomy but that doesn't mean I'm not delivering some C O N T E N T!

Hi DanTheGuppyMan, I live in Wyoming and I have a painted turtle. I was wondering if I should brumate it. And if I should when should I start and finish. Thanks
No your hair doesn't make you look homeless it makes you look like you just woke up and turtles breath through there butts WHAT
It is an iconic look that I strive for. Also yup! Breathe through bootaays

I just found 2 teeny babies in my greenhouse, about quarter size. One has orange dots by his ears and on his front legs. I’m keeping them inside and since it’s usually 80 inside during winter I wonder if they still need a light?? Seems late in the year for babies but wtf do I know. Thank u for making these I love them👍🏻
Please email me pictures of them to dantheguppyman@gmail.com and I can help you out!
Hey I’m from Ireland and I was just wondering is there any species that could live outside all year round here
Thank you, very helpful.
thanks funny and informative lol
Thanks for watching!!!
Does anyone still answer comments here? Wondering if i can brumate 2 yellow sliders in outdoor pond on the west coast (north). We do have winters typically ranges in 20s or 30s. There is a portion of the pond that is a foot below frost line.
um I have a turtle which never sleeps in the water and he hate it. so I made a small place for him to sleep there. it's nice and warm but there is no dist and dust and no leaf. is it ok for him to sleep there for winter or he need to be inside the water??
Ok so i have a pond outside its like a few feet deep do i need a stock tank heater for the winter orrr no heater it rarely gets below negative but it still gets cold and stuff freezes over but i just wanna know do i need a stock tank heater for the tank
I'm also in south Carolina do you breed musk turtles?
I have 3 yellow bellies and 1 res and I'm wanting to build my first turtle pond outside. I live in Georgia near Atlanta, so it doesn't get super cold but still quite cold. What do I need to make sure the temps and that they are brumating properly? I know a de-icer is always good to have, I'm just a little confused about the water temps right? do I need a heater or no?
No heaters! When temps get in the 50’s stop feeding and the turds will handle the rest. Don’t try if they’re not in excellent health and provide a balanced diet. If their weak in any way chances are they won’t make it.
Can a turtle sleep outside his tank outside of water..because since I dont have a lamp or heater for his water and it's cold his water gets very cold so I put him in my shoe box with a comfortable blanket until the morning ? Is that ok
I live in Denver and it is hard to tell how cold it will get for the winter one moment it will be so hot 1 hour later it will be soo cold😂
Found my 3 of my 4 Red eared sliders dead in my backyard pond today which has really got me down. It has been cool but really hasn't gotten that cold for any length of time here in Texas, so I really don't know what could have happened. It got fairly cold a few days here and there, but nothing that harsh. I took out the last turtle and brought him inside. Does anyone know what could have happened? This is very depressing and surprising to me since they are native to Texas.
Idk if hes dead or not i tried to move him he has his basking light all the time his water is warm all the time i tried to poke at him hes not moving so i just put him on the basking dock is that the right decision or should i leave him im the water.PLEASE SOMEONE RESPOND BACK TO ME.
So if I have a box turtle inside di we let him bury himself ? Or what? And should I still be turning his light on during the day? I just noticed that he has not been eating very much if anything for a few days so I have alot to learn.
Is brumation good for hatchling?
You say check on the turtle occasionally just in case what? And if so what can I do? Prepare for the trash can?
HELP!!! this turtle laid eggs in backyard and its cold here past 2 nights. are the eggs gonna not make it?
Should you who do that with hashling turtles
Dan: talks about breeding
Neighbor: yeah, I got a squeaky mattress.
i have a reeves turtle and i am just wondering if it is necessary to brumate him? Is it bad for his health if i dont brumate him? Will it help him live longer? Btw this turtle stays inside my home in a 75g tank with heaters and basking setup. During the winter i run the heater inside my home and i was planning to get an extra heater for the tank.
Please help :)
What do i do with my turtle in winter, when it's in my garden (don't have one yet)
Depends on the species!!!
Yo so um i have an 11 year old RES and she jumps outta her pond to sleep in a hole in the ground. I live in Cali and its 100 degrees rn
Someome plz help she keeps doing it lmao i dont want her to dry out
Do you have to do it I want to get a red ear slider but now I don’t really want now cuase it’s very confusing 😂
Not necessary for their health!
Do I even need to brumate species like the Sternotherus minor minor?
Hi handsome Guppyman, I'm one of your audience from Malaysia. I have a question here. So in Malaysia, we do not have four seasons, but we will face monsoon seasons during the end of the year, so the weather may be cool. My question is: do this brumation setup apply for my turtles (they are stinkpot turtles) during the season as well? Thank you 😄😄
Hey there!! That depends on just how cool it will get. I think stinkpot musk's can deal with cooler temps, I'd have to look into it a little!
@@DanTheTurtleMan_ I see, thank you so much 😄😄
First. Lol great video
Thank you!!!
Would it be okay to have a turtle pond around Atlanta, Georgia with a Yellow Bellied Slider? And let them brumate with the weather?
Yup!
At what temperature do you recommend hibernation of ornate turtles and how many weeks?
Around 50-55degrees F, 60-90 days
Can I keep my Red Eared Slider's basking light on?
For how long/when? During brumation I wouldn't recommend it
dantheguppyman0:37| this is going to be a short 10 min video
me loos at the time of the video 11min LOL😂🤣
Should I be scared of hibernation
Dan, I need your help buddy, I am in New Port Richey Florida and I am looking to get a Diamond Back Terrapin Baby, I was curious if you know anywhere to get one cheap or possibly even free, I currently have 2 Three striped mud turtles and just moved them to a 100 gallon tub, but i have a 55 gallon tank i want to use for the DBT. everything i read about them says you need to keep them in brackish/salty water, but i never see anyone in videos use that...is that wrong?
I don't know any for free or cheap, but check my video on brackish water for Terrapins!
Check Craigslist and stuff like that. That's how I found my turtles
I have two RES that are 6 to 7 inches. I can't have them inside because pets are not allowed, so I keep them outside in above pond liners. I'm in California and it gets about 32 degrees during the coldest months. To keep them warm, I set them up in a 4 person tent, with two warmers at night, and one warmer and a lamp during the day. Is this okay for me to do, or should I let them get cold?
Did you ever find out the answer? If so what was it
@@uh.jokestea3347 I never got an answer, but they survived.
This video was 11 minutes exactly 😂😂
For me it is 11:01 😭
Gotta get dat CZcams bread
Why you always lyin
Ig time goes slower in europe
-22 f here in Canada our turtles are just a diffrent breed
Does my red eared slider have to go into brumation if I live in California ???
I keep my turtle in doors by the way
They don't have to if they are inside and warm. If they are outside, it depends on how cold it gets during the winter
King shit as usual
🙏🙏🙏
Where do you get your tubs for your turtles because I’ve been looking for a large tub but can’t find one.
Tractor Supply!
DanTheGuppyMan do I just search large plastic tubs or do I have to look under a certain category
@@drouzy9588 check under livestock tanks!
DanTheGuppyMan thank you so much. My turtles will be so happy 😁
DanTheGuppyMan I am now getting a 110 gallon tub. Thanks for the help. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
Ben DOES NOT equal smol…. For the record
Then why is it in the video....(?)
Why is the turtle in a saltwater tank?
me i wonder how to hibernate my turtles...
nobody...

Have you lost turtle
You look like hulk bit younger and bigger eyes.
Well My turtle may be dead but I’ll assume he’s hibernating
Tax evacion
3:19, why? Turtle hatchlings in the wild do it, and the strong and healthy ones make it through.
Bears don’t hibernate they can wake up and leave there dens at any time during the winters. So bears don’t truly hibernate
i gave it a big thumps down
