It is always interesting to watch these historic matches. Carman Salvino was off his game this week, but today 53 years later . he is a living legend. Ray Bluth never lived up to his potential but, at least, I think he is still alive. He was a household name in the mid sixties. Bowling is great!
@@irishpogi Ray Bluth owns Crestwood bowl with his son in St. Louis, I used to work there and bowl there quite frequently. Ray is an awesome guy! Back in like 2016/2017, he threw the opening shot at our high school state championship which was being held at Crestwood, our team actually ended up winning that year!
@@irishpogi Tropicana is in Clayton, Mo. which is a suburb of St. Louis and a former stop on the PBA tour and the WPBA/PWBA as well. Different owners, but a great place to bowl!
When Bill Bunetta said, "that ball didn't take" after Salvino left the bucket, he hit the nail on the head. I think that phrase should have become a popular expression for a dead ball but it didn't take for some reason.
@@danwinkfield6104 I never met Ray Bluth but I met Carmen Salvino during a Pro-Am around 1973. Remember him and "The Equation"? I asked him about it and he gave me a hint. It helped my get more turn on the ball. Carmen was quite colorful.

Brings back old memories. I was 16 years old when this was taped. Loved bowling in my younger years.

Starting the new Year : Bluth born in 1927 is 95 and still alive. Heck of a life. Salvino 1933 and 89, also alive.

You're absolutely correct. Carmen just bowled February 2020 at the TOC breaking his own record for PBA performance years at his age now 86!
@@bobfishnut Wow, that's amazing. Good for Carmen!
Ray Bluth has part ownership of Tropicana Lanes, a center located somewhere in Missouri.

Thank you so much for posting this !
Such gentlemen back in the golden age of bowling.
Im just jealous of how well the scorekeeper's writing is.

Ahhhh,the good ole days!
When I was a kid, Ray Bluth was my favorite bowler. It's great to see him in action again.
He was mine too. I actually tried to copy his style as a kid.

Bluth was my favorite when I was a kid too. I don’t know why, maybe bc he was so good and consistent
That "peek a boo" set up made him very unique!
A tough match for Carmen but he did go home with bonus money!
The guy at the end of the front row looks kind of like Tom Hanks
It's been two years since a comment. That ends today. I mean.
1:46 $100,000 to the Winner !! 🤗
$500 for the runner up. ☹️
You heard that wrong. I heard $1,000.

Is there any truth to the rumor that Bluth moved to Russia and called himself Gorbachev?
Nope
No black dudes, even in the crowd. 🤷 just saying. Fun to see the old days, but it’s glaring!
